Another great episode, Ralph. I work right down the street from Captain's Auctions, but I've never actually visited it. Now I'm planning on checking out their next auction and stopping by the pinball showroom.
OMG that’s awesome! You should for sure stop into the showroom and play some pinball if you get a chance. Lots of awesome machines in there. Thanks so much for watching!
Arcades for me represent great gaming nostalgia. I remember being a kid and life felt so much simpler. No worries to deal with and no adult stess to contend with.
Great Video Ralph!! Hopefully we will see some more but if not thank you for making these episodes. They bring back amazing memories of old arcades and fun times!
It's going own hiatus for the summer but maybe we will be back in the fall. I love making them so you never know, thank you so much for watching and supporting the series!
Great video, I love all your work but this is one of my favourites. I really liked you words of wisdom at the end of the video. I'm already looking forward to your next production. Thanks for all your time and work you put into everything.
Glad you enjoyed it! I really appreciate your support! I hope to be back at it sometime in the fall. In the meantime, I will try to keep up with regular weekly uploads. I try to at least do one a week if I can. Thanks again for your support, it means a lot!
Was really excited to see this crossover with pixel game squad! I watch both channels prolifically so that was a great surprise. Great job Ralph and thanks for all the hard work making these videos for us to enjoy!
o my god that's how you make a video all about the video games. I think this is the the best one so far more focus on the the video game side. Love some of the history you guys are so amazing in what you do taking time and money out of your life for us. We thank you so much. Fan for life. Best so far.
Thank you so much! I wanted to do a little more crossing over because I'm a console gamer too, I just don't talk about it much. I met Riff and Ricky at game on Expo in 2018 so we've stayed in touch. When I asked him if he would be a part of it, his answer was "hell yeah"... and the rest is history. Thank you so much for your support of the series, it means a lot to me personally. Thank you!!!
Sorry I missed this upload. UA-cam never notified me. I am a subscriber. Great video Ralph. I love to see these kind of videos. All those old arcade machines, brought a lot of memories for me.

Great episode and wish I was able to meet up with you and Mason. I haven't been to Captains during an actual auction day so it looks very busy and crazy. Love coming here each time I've bought something !
Thanks for watching man! I will be back through OC for work soon, let's plan a dinner or drinks or something. I will give you a heads up, It will be sometime this month I think. Thanks again man!

Awesome episode, great series and looks very professional :) that showroom reminded me of what the Last Gamer's house looked like before he disappeared.
This is hands down the best episode Ralph! Really enjoyed the video and appreciate the work you put in to create this episode. Nice to see you here in socal 👍🏽.
I wanted to live in that pinball room... LOL! It was so clean and all the machines were in REALLY good shape. The word "showroom" is for sure an appropriote name for it!
Great episode and view of Captain’s Auction and what goes around it and behind the scenes. Feeling thing's are really making a comeback, where most arcades here have disappeared some decades ago. I discovered over here that a nightclub convert a few months back to a classic Arcade hall with Bar & Restaurant, disco karaoke room and more which I definitely have to check out some time soon.
Loved this series!! Sad to see it slow down or leave, but it was super fun to watch! Awesome seeing you meet up with Pixel Game Squad. They seem like super amazing dudes. Thanks for all the good content over the years I’ve been watching!
Great episode Ralph! It was awesome to see behind the scenes of Captain's Auctions. I always wonder how that stuff works and I think I was actually surprised by how many people are involved. I hope this isn't the last episode but I do understand if it ends here. I can't imagine how much work and money each of these require.
Thanks for watching bud! It’s likely not the last one but I need to take a hiatus for a bit. I love making them but it’s a lot of time, money and time away from my family. Maybe a fall return if all goes well. Thanks again man! Been really enjoying the Shedcade progress, I bet you can’t wait till it’s done!
I couldn’t wait for Penelope to wake up and watch. Looks like I’ll be watching a second time! This has been my favorite episode so far. Hopefully one day chasing nostalgia will be offered in a complete dvd collection set.
Oh man, that means so much to me man! You have been a supporter from day 1, and I won't ever forget that. Thanks for always watching and supporting the channel my friend! I hope all is well. It's crazy how fast Penelope is growing up by the way!
Then my job is done... haha. I try my best to evoke emotion so if I did that, then that's success. Thanks so much for watching and supporting the series!
I used to hit up Jack Murphy stadium every Sunday for their parking lot flea market. It’s amazing how your eyes find classics in piles of junk. You reminded me how exhausted I was after maybe just 2 hours. Another solid episode Ralph.
Great video and an amazing series. I really appreciate how much hard work has gone into these programs (like all your work). Thanks for a window into the USA arcade scene from a fan and fellow arcade collector (small time) in the UK. Stay cool man and thanks again.
Since the lockdowns I fell in love with retro gaming and pinball machines, I've built three arcade1up (one two player eight button setup, Nintendo Wii lightgun setup and my PC steering wheel and pedal setup) and an arcade one up Williams pinball with a Nintendo switch setup with zaccaria, pinball fx3, pinball arcade and stern pinball arcade.
Tell me about it, it's overwhelming sometimes. I miss the days of arcades, sure there are modern ones but it's not the same. If you ever get a chance to go to Galloping Ghost, you need to. It's as close to an old school arcade that I have ever experienced. It's just all about the games. Thanks so much for watching!
been looking forward to this! guessing that Japanese one in the orange cab was some kinda video 'medal' game, I'm guessing? I know those were (and I think still are?) pretty popular over in Japan, the way he was talking about gambling that would be my guess on that game! I do hope the signed Michael J. Fox stuff was legit (I'd heard a story in the retro community about some older PC games that turned out to be elaborate fakes, you just can't be too careful.) because if so that's super cool! I don't have the budget (or the space) for real retro arcade stuff, so I'm thankful stuff like arcade 1up and the atgames legends mini systems exist! all the fun of the real thing without all the extra issues that come with owning 20, 30, 40 year old hardware. digging this series I always look forward to the next episode!
Thanks my friend, I think the cart was a fake but I don't know for sure. The signatures just didn't seem close enough to me. I think with stuff like that you almost need a certificate of authenticity. Anyhow, thanks again for watching and supporting the channel, it means a lot!
i love your videos because you always have something new and fun to watch and you put all this good effort into finding good content for us also you probably seen me in your comments but i’m a big arcade nerd and i’m thinking of putting out my first pick up video soon keep up good work and keep hunting for games
You should totally do it man! Make the first one and then keep on going, sharing your passion with others is a great creative outlet! I wish you all the luck in the world! Thanks so much for supporting the series!
Ton's of those old radios where the faceplates come off and or pull out. They even had old rockford fosgate amps, all sorts of different brand subwoofers. Even the old school bandpass boxes. I got out of touch with all that stuff, but I'm sure people still mod their car stereos. It brought back some cool memories. Thanks for watching bro! I hope all is well!
Tons of fun to watch like everything you put your heart in Ralph. I enjoy watching those auctions too. Just waiting to find something I can't live without. Since I'm on the completly opposite coast in SC. If it wasn't for shipping I'd grab something every month. 🤜🤛
Thank you so much for the support my friend, it means a lot! Maybe there's an auction house close to you. You never know... I found a small one in PHX, it's not as good as captains but you can sometimes pick up some deals here and there. Thanks again for your support, it means a lot.
@@RetroRalph Thanks Ralph! I had a really good local one called Charleston Gamerooms. But about a decade ago he stopped getting inventory and focused only on multicade builds. Every now and then I can score some new pinballs through their Stern contract though.
I used to put stereos in all my friends cars regardless if I wanted to I did it anyway just for the experience love the auction and all the games like a dream
Man, I loved doing that back in the day. Funny how most stock systems sound decent now. Back then stock radios were such crap... LOL. Thanks so much for watching the show!
Was this video from the captain's auction in May 2022? At 6:52 was the Marvel Super Heroes I restored myself. It was an original dynamo cabinet & had dark blue t-molding on the sides :) I do a lot of business at the captains
Definitely the best episode yet-- you covered a lot of ground and it was very well-produced. I wish I had more insight into the business model of Captain's Auctions though-- where do all those cabinets come from? Is he selling them on consignment or are they purchased in bulk? Still don't understand how that operation makes money. Great episode nonetheless!
I have seen a few, I know of two empty 720 cabinets in Phoenix but you would have to piece them back together. I'm guessing by your user name, you're a big fan of the game :-) It's a great game so I totally get it!
All right we finally drove back to Tucson. You still on that blast city/astro? :) Or are you going to make me drive all the way out to LA and get one from KC?
It was overwhelming, we're going to release some behind the scenes stuff soon, there's even more than what we showed. I'm not sure what the dispensers went for, I think a few hundred bucks for a block of them. I would have to go back and check. Thanks so much for watching!
I spotted that NEO Geo cab as soon as the video started. Funny you ended up winning it. If you come to the East Coast you should check out Lucky Snake Arcade in Atlantic City Nj. I just posted a video.
Great video, the owner of cap's is a great guy. Check the line up on the next AUTION!! LOT #1020 there are 3 and they work! PLEASE ask the wife to get one or 2 more. Rub her feet for a month man do what needs to be done to get them. I got your back here in Canada
OMG I told Kim what you said and she actually was like, foot rubs for a month... ok! Your idea worked! It would be so sweet to have 3 of those networked! We'll see... maybe I can make it happen.... haha. Thanks so much for watching!
Thank you so much for watching! It's a Panasonic GH5 with a Leica f2.8/4.0 12-60. For audio we bounce between a Saramonic Blink500 Pro B2 and a Deity V-Mic D3 Pro Super-Cardioid Directional Shotgun Microphone. The shotgun mic is nice but we don't use it that much because it's just Mason and I. We don't have an extra person to operate a boom pole. Sorry, that's probably too much information... haha. Thanks again!
I missed the initial post of this video then went searching & couldn't find anything. Then I thought this must be it. Ralph, just curious why you didn't put Chasing Nostalgia Ep. 5 in the Title??
Captains will arrange shipment for you. The crew there does a great job wrapping and protecting the games, They're also placed on a pallet for you and secured. The shipping costs do vary, so you just have to factor that in when bidding. With gas prices the way they are, I would expect some fluctuation in shipping. Thanks so much for watching!
With just another quarter, the adventure always continues!!! You are awesome my friend and thank you... :-)
An arcade auction! could be a dangerous setting but super fun to experience.
Thanks so much for watching bud. Yeahhhh. it's very dangerous. Do you own a trailer by chance? You would likely need one... HAHA

All right we finally drove back to Tucson. You still on that blast city/astro? :) Or are you going to make me drive all the way out to LA and get one from KC?
That arcade warehouse looked interesting. I wonder how much those sticker/tatoo dispensers cost?
It was overwhelming, we're going to release some behind the scenes stuff soon, there's even more than what we showed. I'm not sure what the dispensers went for, I think a few hundred bucks for a block of them. I would have to go back and check. Thanks so much for watching!
I spotted that NEO Geo cab as soon as the video started. Funny you ended up winning it. If you come to the East Coast you should check out Lucky Snake Arcade in Atlantic City Nj. I just posted a video.
I didn't know they had a big gaming presence at the Orange Coast College swap meet. What did you do in Irvine?
Let’s go!
A job where you have to build and Dissabled arcade units for people?.... Sounds epic
Great video, the owner of cap's is a great guy. Check the line up on the next AUTION!! LOT #1020
there are 3 and they work!
Another great episode! Quick question, what camera are you using for the recording? The footage looks great.
Didn’t Galloping Ghost have a Sinistar cockpit when you were there?
I'm from AZ and visit cap regularly :o
Awesome, well hello to a fellow neighbor then, I'm in AZ as well.
@@RetroRalph yes sir, hope to see you at game on expo
@@RetroRalph do you have any japanese cabinets you're looking to sell???
Thanks to you Ralph, I can learn about American culture.
Is this Captains guy Twisted Chris’s long lost brother? They bare a striking resemblance this guy just has grey hair 🤣
LOL, might be, maybe I will ask Twisted Chris... haha. Thanks for watching bro, sucks we didn't have time to meet up, next time for sure!
Would you trade killer instinct for that off road I mentioned? Or for a lucky and wild arcade game.
I would but it needs to be rewired up. The PCB isn’t in it at the moment.
@@RetroRalph which one you want to trade for. Thee off road or lucky and wild
How can I send you pics of off road?
@@rubenflorez1583 shoot me an email at RetroRalph1980@gmail.com
Emailed.
Do they ship if you win or are you responsible for getting it shipped?
Captains will arrange shipment for you. The crew there does a great job wrapping and protecting the games, They're also placed on a pallet for you and secured. The shipping costs do vary, so you just have to factor that in when bidding. With gas prices the way they are, I would expect some fluctuation in shipping. Thanks so much for watching!
How much would you say you gave sent over the years in retro gaming related stuff?
OMG, way too much!
