Trivia, this song was written by Walter Vinson and Lonnie Chatmon and recorded in 1930 whom were members of Mississippi Shieks. The song went into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2008. I love how Charlie does it..

"Sittin' on Top of the World") is a folk-blues song written by Walter Vinson and Lonnie Chatmon, core members of the Mississippi Sheiks, a popular country blues band of the 1930s.

Definitely older than that. A lot of those old time songs were made popular during the old time revival era of the 1920’s and 30’s by certain groups live the Carter Family, Jimmie Rodgers, etc. but no one knows exactly when or where they were written because they were handed down generation to generation verbally only. That’s why you’ll hear different lines depending one who they learned it from. But pretty much they all came from Appalachia and the Piedmont, and the Delta!!!
