I'd love to listen to you and Tom Moran having a chat about spiders. I think you are two of the most informational and drama-free keepers on this platform
Dave, this is the greatest gift I've received in over a decade, and "EVER" on UA-cam, I'm so excited to watch listen and learn from you, the beast master extraordinaire. Edit.. Dave, your theories are indeed repeatable, as true science demands, and this is the most important aspect of your videos... I've personally appreciated learning a little bit about your past interactions with animals, thought truthfully I'm not surprised by that revelation, mate.. in all of your future endeavours I truly wish you all the best, and I also anticipate receiving knowledgeable updates from you, concerning such projects.. PS, I totally agree with your opinion of the 'SPIDER JUSTICE WARRIORS' in that I've also found that most complainers or suggestion casters haven't actually ever kept a spider...
Its gotta be said, I haven't subscribed to somebody in many years, but your interaction with your community is absolutely unheard of. I'm 24 and terrified of spiders, but your video's are amazing, big ups.
Thank you Dave and Camera Lady. I am one of those arachnophobes who enjoys your videos. Your channel, The Dark Den and Tom Moran’s big spiders have made it possible for me to be near a spider in its enclosure and not be scared. Your passion and dedication to education are gifts. Thank you. I have a question, “Have you named any of your spiders?”
you have single handedly gotten me over my fear of spiders. I was very close to buying a sling , but chickened out at the last moment. the movement triggered me, but your kindness to these creatures has given me pause to rethink my fear. only took me 61 years, well done Dave keep the videos flowing sir Hi camera lady.
Jumping spiders are incredibly intelligent! They are adorable and have been shown to potentially go through REM sleep. I find that just incredible given their tiny size.
Dave & Camera Lady I just finished watching your recent Q&A video and simply wanted to comment to compliment the obvious commitment the two of you have maintained and the breadth and depth of content that has resulted as a consequence. I wrote to you one time in the past and mentioned then that I am one of those subscribers who is not personally a hobbyist. I suppose I watch your videos mostly for reasons of general curiosity - however, to the extent that I may glean hints of your personal philosophy of life via some of the videos, it occurs to me you might find my deeper reason for having become a regular viewer to be of interest as well - even though it has nothing to do with spiders, per se. I apologize for its being a cliché, but I can say I am literally a poet-philosopher. I studied philosophy at UC Berkeley and though I never formally studied poetry I have had many poems published, and my first full book of poetry, titled, “It Doesn’t Work Like That” was published in 2016. The connection probably won’t seem that clear at first, but one of the philosophical concepts that drives all of my writing is the pursuit of truth. As anyone might conclude from my making that statement, the past half-decade + (especially for any citizen of the United States) has been a particularly challenging era when it comes to finding people who have a respect for the truth. As it happens, I have found many UA-cam channels (all sorts of subjects, from quantum physics to tarantulas) that have helped me survive the age of Donald Trump - and “Dave’s Little Beasties” is a prime example. So, I realize this longish note is hardly more than a personal confession but your wonderful Q&A video left me thinking you might find the deep-down reason for why someone like me, having no interest in any sort of exotic animal husbandry, might develop such a dedicated interest in the subject of keeping and breeding tarantulas. You and Camera Lady do a fantastic and much appreciated job of revealing so many of the normally hidden truths of the world of tarantula spiders.
PROFF and CAMERA LADY i would like to thank all the questions from people and your brilliant answers and great advice. most enjoyable video to watch. ITS AMAZING THE COMFORT TO PEOPLE THAT YOU BROUGHT DURING THE PANDEMIC WITH ALL YOUR VIDEOS. as i have asked before when is the BOOK coming HA HA HA. MAGICAL GUYS--TAKE CARE AND MANY THANKS
When Camera Lady asks the question about them and sharing their spider hobby together and you can see his glowing smile, Dave is such a gentleman to his Camera Lady, absolutely love it.
Gday from Australia 🇦🇺 where every animal is dangerous . I’ve subscribed . Quick Q/A - what is the most dangerous spider you have? - ever been bitten (I was bitten by a Aus red back as a kid- it was like a hot nail being inserted in you) - Do you plan on getting a male Sydney funnel web (the most brutal spider ever) I have one living in a hole in my garden Been told to kill it, but it is going to the milking rooms at Aus Reptile park for anti venom
I can thank three specific people for getting me into caring for tarantulas. Dave's Little Beasties, The Dark Den, and Tarantula Kat. I just started keeping tarantulas a year ago. I obtained 3 tiny slings. Seeing them grow, and being a caretaker in these spiders lives has changed me. I thank you for putting these videos on youtube for people to learn. It changed my life for the better in so many ways. Thank you!
Really love the way you treat your spiders, it helps an arachnophobe like me to learn more about them when they're shown and cared for so calmly and with so much respect. I'm a snake keeper myself so I have a great deal of appreciation for those who promote learning about exotic animals instead of unnecessary dramatics to spook the "civilians". Thank you for the videos, keep doing what you do 👍
Speaking as someone who doesn't keep spiders - I adore and look forward to your videos. It's actually because of watching you, I have a much different reaction when I see garden spiders. Last week when I went downstairs into my basement, I went to turn on the light. There was a thin web across the light switch and two small spiders moving about. I looked at it and said "Oh, it's a nursery web - I'll leave you alone" (clearly we don't go downstairs that much, and I figured the little ones would eventually find their way out). My other thought was to collect the web with a paint brush, and paper towel to move the smaller spiders outside. Thank you for all you do! Much love to you and the Camera Lady! 😁
The tarantula's heart is a long, slender tube located along the top of the opisthosoma. The heart is neurogenic as opposed to myogenic, so nerve cells instead of muscle cells initiate and coordinate the heart
Thank you Dave (and Camera Lady) for this video! You've answered a lot of the questions I've had for you, and questions from others that I didn't know I wanted to ask! I've had a bit of Arachnophobia from the time I was little, but nothing debilitating. They always just made my skin crawl. Though I have always known that they do provide a service of killing a lot of the bugs that can be harmful to humans. I have always harbored an equal fascination about spiders, and the ultimate question that Arachnophobes eventually come to... 'what about the largest of spiders'? Back in the days of cable TV, I became obsessed with documentaries on tarantulas. Since then, I've come across channels like yours, primarily focused on tarantulas. You have diminished a lot of my fears, and even created something of an affinity, or at very least, a greater respect for tarantulas. I still don't have any real interest in becoming an owner, but it's still extremely interesting to watch. Thanks for all that you do.
I got over my fear by watching Dave and getting a few slings - and then three juveniles. You soon get over your fear when you watch how comical they can be. I can sit for hours watching them dig, like little bulldozers and they flatten the substrate out using their bums. The moulting process is also magical as you don't realise how much they can grow after each moult. I talk to them all (nine of them) and my husband and grown up children laugh at me constantly as they know how I used to completely freak out at the sight of a house spider!
@@CaroleEvans93436 There are Arachnophobia classes, where people are so entrenched in their fears that they can't even hold a printed piece of paper with a spider silhouette! I've never been remotely close to that level. I could manage being an owner, and I "might" be able to convince my wife to be ok with it, but I think it would take more attention than I'd want (and need) to give to them. So, I live vicariously through Dave. 😊
I love the answer to the mesh lids "sheep" Biggest pet peeve in this hobby is the regurgitation of rhetoric as if it's first hand knowledge. Everybody wants to come off as intelligent, regardless whether it's fact or not, you can't come off as intelligent when all you say is "BAAAAAAAHHHHHH" Thanks from California Dave and camera lady!
I didn't know there was going to be a Q & A but, I have a burning question: In the wild (or captivity) - do tarantulas recognise other T's that are the same breed.....for 'romance' or reproduction? I've often wondered by seeing many T's that seem to share physical traits. Also, we've expanded our exotic animal collection with two ball pythons. I know you said maybe in future that you would get reptiles again and I'm hoping to hear your views on ball pythons as pets. I wasn't keen on snakes until my daughter wanted a BP and I fell in love with hers so now, I have my own. They are amazing - so gentle (and extremely inquisitive).....
There are two UA-camrs I tend to absorb most of what they say. One is Dave and the other is Chad from 1st508th Airborne because both guys are very calm and respectful to the animals. Also the Mexican Red Knee is the spider I had my first nightmare about when I was around 5 I think, my Mum took years to convince me it was a nightmare and not real, I must've been watching a nature show or something. I find the tarantula pretty interesting these days.
I love how informative you are! I work from home and have been watching all your videos this week for the whole shift so if you see me commenting on old posts that's why 😂 I'm considering a gbb next!
First of all, thx Dave and Camera Lady for this and every video before! Awesome work!! And this paticular video is so informative and gripping, that I forgot how long it is. 😉👍 Me and my wife have the same development like you 2, relating to the hobby. It's wonderful to have someone who shares the same love for this amazing animals. Greetings from germany 🕷️
I love jumpers for their inquisitive natures and generally friendly demeanors. My only gripe with them and most "true" spiders is how short their lifespans tend to be. I had a bold jumper for almost 3 years, but most die within a year; if you're buying them, that's not a lot of "return on investment," so to speak. I have a brilliant jumper right now that ballooned right into me when I was fishing. She's so pretty and nice, and I'll be sad when she's gone.
I'll also mention that although I never handle my tarantulas, I handle my jumpers everyday. They truly seek out my hand, which admittedly they know they're about to he fed and/or watered, but sometimes they just climb and jump all around my fingers, and often stop to just start grooming themselves and relaxing. I feel like gears are turning inside their little minds a bit more than, say, the average tarantula.
I'm so glad you started this channel Dave. It really has changed my life. Been an arachnophobe all my life. The summer of 2021 I had a record amount of spiders appear in my apartment so much so that I had a mild nervous breakdown. My doctor actually recommended I speak to their therapist and he helped motivate me and guide me on the path to understanding and confronting my fear. It lead me to this channel and believe me, your footage, knowledge, and overall great personality has made a world of a difference in my life 💙
Thank you so much im glad your confronting your fears and seeing these creatures in a different, light you got this another year and you may have pet spider of your own ❤️👍
I'm so glad I watched this video. You're helping with a phobia of spiders and knowing just how many different animals you've worked with throughout your life makes you even more awesome
Hey Dave! I got a question In the future when you do rehouse care videos, could you use the world map if you still got it and show us where the spider is from? Visual queues help me remember because I was never the best with geography 😅
It was because of this channel that at the ripe old age of 51 i got my first slings, over came my fear of spiders and creepy crawlys and gave me a new respect for inverts of all kinds
I honestly could listen to you all day long. You are so insightful. I live in the UK and I live in a large village. There's an absolute abundance of wildlife if you look for it and sometimes if you don't!! I used to get woodlice in my flat but there's Cellular spiders that moved into my flat because there's food. I let them stay with me and I don't have pests. All I see are the bodies. I've read so much about them and I've read online that they are cannibalistic but I completely disagree. I've watched them so much that I know if one moves home, which they do quite regularly, I can notice if I see it again which one it is (mostly). I've seen them living side by side and none of them eat any of the others. Nature is so fascinating, the Cellular spiders in my home don't often live on the ceilings because they are eating food that is found on the floor mostly. This means they have learnt to adapt because most of them live on ceilings normally. The only time they go to the ceilings is to carry their egg sack to a high up place where the female guards them until the tiny dark dots disperse.
Dave I feel like I have to confess something. I was vaccumming my room this morning when I disturbed a large brown house-spider that was relaxing under some cupboards. Before I knew what had happened the poor thing was sucked into the machine! Though very sad this little episode made me realise that your videos have caused me to have a great deal of empathy for these fantastic creatures. I really hope I don't accidentally kill any more during this season when they're all looking for warmth inside!
Dave and Camera Lady: Thank you both for such an extensive sitdown and time to answer so many question, my own included! I really like your mentality and insights. I found myself agreeing with you a lot! Plus your answer did help me see where I went wrong (too much soil for too little water and thinking water would seep through the moss from uptop too, and a spider cavern right under some of the moss). I must say though the favorite part of this was the question if Camera Lady likes spiders as much as you do. The amount of love and passion I could hear and see, that you have for one another is truly heartwarming!
Love this video. Reptiles next for me, on tropical fish and crayfish at the moment so looking forward to husbandry videos on reptiles. I have a sneaky feeling one day I may get a spider, because of you.
Watched this late, only thing to add is," Be calm, be gentle and love your spider fairy." Also if you ever have a ceiling full of baby "escapees" maybe a spider fairy can grab a pic?
Dave is very generous with his sharing of what he has learned. He holds the welfare of spiders above his secrets to success with them. I didn’t even know that I was interested until I happened upon this channel. Now I watch all his videos with enthusiasm. Who knew the spider wizards wand was an artists brush? Hahaha.
Hello Dave and Camera Lady. What fun to have you both answering our questions. I was pleased to have gotten my question answered. I am one of your many fans that started as a terrified arachnophobe and now find spiders beautiful and fascinating. Thank you for that. No package yet? I hope it didn’t get lost. Okay off to sleep. Have a lovely day. Stay safe and take care.❤️💖
I accidentally handled my H. gigas when I got her. Tried to get her out of the shipping container, she wouldn’t move, I stayed calm but all of a sudden she bolted out onto my hand. Most stressful 5 minutes of my spider mum life 😅 I was a bit scared of getting bit - however, I still stayed calm and gave her the time until she strolled off to explore her enclosure. Lovely and interesting video ❤
Did you notice, that your balfouri on the lower shelf in the back just moulted out on camera? Nice little extra content. Btw, from what I know, Tarantulas have actually a real heart, its located in the middle the upper front part of their abdomen, right behind the cephalothorax.
Honestly Dave and Camera lady, your channel is my favourite animal channel on UA-cam, you're so informative and fun I've learned alot from you both, and hopefully one day I'll be able to own a tarantula of my own. I'm so thankful for your channel, I hope great things come to you both!
Great video, great questions and great answers, thank you both for entertaining and educating us. Dave, I love your attitude to the "patreon" question, too many people see UA-cam as a business, it's refreshing to hear your response to the question. I'd definitely buy some merchandise for myself and kids, I'd love some T shirts and hoodies, keep up the great work👍🏻👍🏻❤️
Such a great video, explaining a lot of things about the hobby, and cool background story 👍 I had a real laugh, at 26:00 Camera Lady having listed several names, from people who asked, if Dave's ever been bitten. Getting ready to answer it looked like, and then the "good lord, there's more" expression 😂 I'm glad something truly good came out of the lockdown, and big thanks to Camera Lady, for delivering the final motivational push 😁 It's also good to know, someone is looking after you Dave, so you hopefully won't burn out, for all the good you do for us viewers 😊 But you do seem well aware, if there's a balance 😀 100% agree, it's very therapeutic seeing Spiders at their best, disarming the fear, but never the respect 😊
Yay, I loved this Q&A it was really interesting to hear about how you started out, the world is my oyster I cannot wait for a proper tarantula, seeing you say that jumping spiders are boring, it was like an arrow thrusting straight into my beating heart, I will let you off on this occasion! I am very excited about being a Patreon , I have Sam from Bug realms, Gar Arachnotube, and the rest are dogs that are mistreated in another EU country, so I have a space on my page just for you Camera ladyI love this channel, during COVID, I was in hospital with covid and your channel was a breath of air, the nurses and doctors would stand behind me to watch these incredible videos, they were speechless, they went from ooh to OMG these tarantulas are beautiful! When a break was needed but they couldn’t leave the ward they would sit in my wheelchair and watch your videos! Much love to you both . ❤️❤️❤️🕷🕸🕸🕷
Dave, I have two questions that should have been asked but were not. 1. How do you maintain and keep all of your specimens organized? I follow your recommendations and use front glass labels, but there is so much more that needs to be accounted for. Purchase origin, arrival date, price, size, sex, bred date, sac date, extraction date, and so much more. Do you pen and ink all that documentation, or do you have super memory? 2. This is a point, not so much a question. When you were answering the venom question, the actual physical size of the spider is a very considerable factor. 😃😃😃😃
A lot of the information I carry in my head 😂 I know every spider in my room and can remember what I last did with it , the only things I write down are moult dates and pairing dates , egg sac dates , and yes the size of a spider can make a difference on the amount of venom given but doesn't make ant difference on the toxicity of the venom 👍
That seems weird, since baby rattlesnakes actually can't control their venom and when they bite, it can be way more dangerous since it's not one bite or shot of venom it can be several all at once. At least that's what we were told when 2 classmates in 6th grade got bitten by the rattlesnake on a field trip. I live in northern Nevada, so I think that's a Western Diamondback.
Great video Dave and camera lady, absolutely superb! Thank you both 😍 I've learnt so much from watching your channel and look forward to seeing what you do next! I know camera lady is shy but she's coming out of her shell more and more and it would be great to put a face to her name! She needs to pop up and say hello very soon! Keep up the great work both of you 🖤🕷️😍
What a lovely video, I was setting up new enclosures and feeding while listening to you, felt like we were having a conversation, even though one sided ;) Nice to hear camera lady more often, she's pretty important and totally sweet!
I am new to the hobby from the Texas and I am admire you so much! I may not comment like I should, but the husbandry I have learned from you has made me a lot more calm and confident. You and Camera Lady are amazing and I love you guys so much! Thank you for educating me on how to be a better a Spider Dad. I am looking forward to more 2023 content!
Crackin’ good video! I started collecting Spiders 2 years ago, and I have watched every video on your channel! I have learned so much valuable information from you. I’m going to pretend I didn’t hear your comment about jumping spiders! 😂😂
Dave this has to be for me one of your very best videos, very interesting and your knowledge is top draw 👍 camera lady did a fantastic job with you as always but was very nice to hear her on a more conversational way throughout the video, well done to the both of you. 👍👍👍
Woah ! I was not expecting the Q&A so soon :D I would absolutely LOVE to see you doing a collab vid with Tom Moran. No disrespect to other UA-camrs out there, but you and Tom are by far the best of the bunch. I also enjoyed learning that your folks were reptile hobbyists and gave you that most precious love of exotic animals. Very lucky :) Stay safe and thanks for sharing :)
You have been a great help to my husband. He's learned a lot. He is now in the process of building a table like the one you have, as a D.Diamantimensis sling bolted and jumped to the floor(Thankfully spotted it a few hours later going for a wander across the floor). He is also wondering what type of enclosures you use, the one with the sliding lids? Patreon is fine if the content creater gives something in return, i.e videos specifically for them or the occasional Live for them. They could maybe get earlier access to merch.
Just finished the video. Top notch as always very informative. Being from England I moved to America to get married coming on 10years now and me and the wife have just become sling owners to a Antilles Versicolor and a T seladonia your knowledge has helped us so much and we are going to a Arlington show in Texas next weekend to get maybe some more. Thank you for the fun and knowledge you bring and the education. Thanks again look forward to the next Vid.
I’ve been a subscriber for quite some time now, and I must say it was really nice to watch a q & a from you guys. And I rather enjoyed Camera Lady being a bigger part of the video too! I almost feel like I know you guys a little better. 😊 Thank you for everything you do! 🙌🏼 Congrats on the continued growth of the channel as well!
Hi Dave: Mrs. Camera Lady shares so much of your fun that I’ve come to appreciate her humor and gentleness despite never getting to see her! One of these days might we be introduced to lovely Camera Lady if she would be willing? As always, love your videos!
Really enjoyed the video. It's always fun to learn about someone you enjoy spending time with - even virtually. Especially enjoyed your sharing your appreciation and affection for your local enclosure cleaning fairy. I've been with my Mister for a good 30 years and counting now and I don't know that he'll be turning a hand at cleaning fairy any time soon!
Your calm knowledge is comforting. The knowledge is new to me. In my home years ago, there was a large wolf spider who came out. Stood watch. It returned over several years. It was a sort of companion. Wouldn't kill it or let any other of my family. Never knew there were so many tarantulas. You are like me. Your favorite anything. spider , flower, song is the one you are working with at that moment.
i realy apprecait you taking the time to answer all the Q. I just love to hear and learn from you . my fav spider is suntiger ,redknee ,metallica. moving my spiders [stressfree] is the fun part of the hobby.
I like that you present these spiders from a scientific view. I am interested in how they live and the breeding. The stages of their life and that you don’t put bows on them or a dinner jacket. I would imagine that they would be terrified if you picked them up so i am glad that you don’t do that. You show us what they thrive on and give us information that we cannot find anywhere else. Bravo to you sir and thank you for a fantastic channel.
Just watched your Q&A vid and it was as interesting and entertaining as the actual spider “documentaries” you produce. I am 70 years old and have only just learned about the beauty and fascination of spiders mostly thru your videos. I truly doubt I will ever keep a tarantula but I have really enjoyed your introduction to their world. Thank you for sharing it with me. It has greatly enriched my life the last 9 months. I look forward to further insights into the tarantula perspective. 1:42:12
Thanks for answering! I’ll have to get my own table made up when I have a house of my own. As for camel spiders, good luck! If I find any breeding info, I’ll send it your way. Also, thanks for the two for one molting video!
Wow Dave that was awesome! Thank you so much for doing what you and camera lady do!! I have a few questions for you if you have time or if you want to answer on the next q/a is how old is too old to breed a female, how many time’s can you breed that same female, and how often can you breed a female? I’m asking cause I want to do some breeding of my own and I want to do it safely
Once a female is mature she will breed between each moult , once she moults she can start again , the average tarantular lives for 12 years ? , there are many other factors to think about not all will produce viable sacs every time ? temps , food , humidity theres so much more to breeding ❤️👍
Thanks Dave Im not going to pair them that much maybe a few times each I just didn’t want to hurt my T’s you know they are my family. Oh and the beastie incubator I made works great!! Thanks for that!!
Amazing video and very informative! You are definitely my favourite channel when is comes to spiders. Your knowledge is amazing, thank you so much for sharing it with us.
But Dave, you are giving us something! It’s knowledge!! I didn’t know anything about spiders except to be afraid of them (because of what happened to me when I was much younger). The knowledge you have given each of us is like a professor in the front of our classroom. If people wish to donate maybe you can look like it that way. Your knowledge about spiders is amazing!! Your spiders are just as amazing and beautifully stunning!!
Really enjoyed this, the longest youtube video iv ever watched but it certainly didnt feel it. I really look forward to Mondays and Thursdays with a cup of tea and checkout what you have posted up. Keep up the great work Dave, it is hugely appreciated! 👍
Dave and Camera Lady, thank you for all of your interesting, informative videos. All of your tarantulas are beautiful. That's a compliment from someone who has been arachnophobic all of her life. 💜💜
Dave, Camera Lady. Thank you. The channel is amazing I look forward to seeing your videos each week. It was really nice to hear more about you especially being a Zoo keeper and also keeping Birds. As in the channel name I've got it's about my little Parrot Ick. In general I enjoy the animal Kingdom. So thanks again.♥️👍
David.. you and your lady are just great people It has been my privilege to find and watch your videos.. Love and respect from my family to yours.. But you should have gotten camera lady ( I see you reading this!) to come out from behind the scenes and give us a great big smile.. Thank you so very much.. Carry on!
Dave that was brilliant, And some very good questions, should do some similar ones aswell, anyway Dave another super job by yourself and camera 📷 lady Dave.
I keep a 90 gallon salt water fish/reef tank. Those are my pets. Don't have a spider...but am just fascinated by your channel. I don't miss a video. Thank you for all your time and dedication to this hobby and to sharing your vast experience with all of us around the world!
Just coordinated my replacement Tarantula for my senior Girl who died after 18 years of a wonderful experience. She gave me great joy and satisfaction, and I hope I provided her the best experience.
@@denisegreene8441 To clarify my poorly worded comment. Replacement is not a replacement but a new Tarantula with who we will share our next 15+ years together. - At some point, your Tarantulas will outlive you, and will need a plan for their future husbandry. Not saying I am going to Croke in the next 15 years, but It did make me think of that day.
I agree with you with the jumping spiders Dave. I think it’s due to their short lifespan. I don’t think I want to get invested in a spider that won’t be around very long
I haved a jumper a while and he was totallys cool. He would comed out and watched me whened ever I watched him and whened would I drop ined a niced juicy white cricket he would followed it on the rocks aboved to until would he jumped onto it and ambushed it and eated it ! He was being my favorite of pet a while, evened more thened my bats! And they cand not hurted you at all. He was only of my pets my fosters mom was not being scared of. Whened I geted a tarantula my fosters mom freaked out and acshully maked me bring him back. But Morticus was my favorite of spider, jumpers just haved betters personality’s I do thinked. At least did mine any ways. He would all ways comed out when did I comed and watched for him and he would to followed me around as did I moved.
@@jacobsparry8525 I did want jumping spiders before but I saw videos of people handling them and they look like they have personality. I would hate to get attached to something like that and it die after a year or two. With my tarantulas I have no attachment. I just find them fascinating and feeding them is fun.
@@Jaay_562 Just do you haved to remembered it that every thing does to haved a lifes cycle and a time for going. Tarantulas cand geted sick and died too even your know. I guess it be caused my Mom and my Father and my Olders brother and my Grand of father all dided to died ined a crash at whened was I at 7 and only dided I lived haved I haved to geted used to deathed diffrenter thened other of persons.
I thoroughly enjoyed that Dave and Camera Lady! I've learnt a lot some really good questions and answers! Thanks for the nearly two hour video loved it!! I also cant wait for the live chat that will be awesome atb!
Wow what an interesting video. There are so many good questions and answers and I'm learning more and more, so my heartfelt thank you to all the viewers for asking those interesting questions like do spiders get constipated. My heartfelt thank you to you Dave and camera lady you both are the best. I rehomed my first lot of spiders because some of my friends kept fainting. Now the second time round I don't invite people into my home anymore I meet them somewhere else, so I don't fall our with them. That gas nothing to do with spiders but people rarely do what I ask them to do regarding my dogs. They get them excited and I don't like it. Anyway I'm rambling on thanks again to the wonderful viewers and Dave and camera lady.
This was one of your best videos. It showed how much you enjoy doing the channel for your community of followers that means alot. Because you will be around for a long time to teach and entertain us. I'm so glad you are enjoying it so much. So keep being calm and loving your spiders and community of followers.
I'd love to listen to you and Tom Moran having a chat about spiders. I think you are two of the most informational and drama-free keepers on this platform
You never know 😂👍

Awesome thank you 🙏
Thank you Dave and Camera Lady.
That’s awesome and no I don’t name them 👍
you have single handedly gotten me over my fear of spiders. I was very close to buying a sling , but chickened out at the last moment. the movement triggered me, but your kindness to these creatures has given me pause to rethink my fear. only took me 61 years, well done Dave keep the videos flowing sir Hi camera lady.
Outstanding my friend ❤️👍
Jumping spiders are incredibly intelligent! They are adorable and have been shown to potentially go through REM sleep. I find that just incredible given their tiny size.
Dave you are to me the most knowledgeable on tarantulas, and a great help to me on keeping them. Keep up the great work .👍👍
Thank you so very much ❤️
Dave & Camera Lady
I just finished watching your recent Q&A video and simply wanted to comment to compliment the obvious commitment the two of you have maintained and the breadth and depth of content that has resulted as a consequence.
Thank you so much my friend your support is appreciated ❤️❤️❤️
PROFF and CAMERA LADY i would like to thank all the questions from people and your brilliant answers and great advice. most enjoyable video to watch. ITS AMAZING THE COMFORT TO PEOPLE THAT YOU BROUGHT DURING THE PANDEMIC WITH ALL YOUR VIDEOS. as i have asked before when is the BOOK coming HA HA HA. MAGICAL GUYS--TAKE CARE AND MANY THANKS
We feel very humbled to have so much support ❤️❤️❤️
When Camera Lady asks the question about them and sharing their spider hobby together and you can see his glowing smile, Dave is such a gentleman to his Camera Lady, absolutely love it.
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Love to see the show 😉😉😉
Gday from Australia 🇦🇺 where every animal is dangerous . I’ve subscribed .
Quick Q/A
- what is the most dangerous spider you have?
- ever been bitten (I was bitten by a Aus red back as a kid- it was like a hot nail being inserted in you)
- Do you plan on getting a male Sydney funnel web (the most brutal spider ever)
I have one living in a hole in my garden
Been told to kill it, but it is going to the milking rooms at Aus Reptile park for anti venom
Welcome to our channel my friend , I wish I could have the Sydney funnel web would love to work with them 👍
I can thank three specific people for getting me into caring for tarantulas. Thank you!
Thats awesome my friend ❤️❤️❤️
Really love the way you treat your spiders, it helps an arachnophobe like me to learn more about them when they're shown and cared for so calmly and with so much respect. I'm a snake keeper myself so I have a great deal of appreciation for those who promote learning about exotic animals instead of unnecessary dramatics to spook the "civilians". Thank you for the videos, keep doing what you do 👍
❤️❤️❤️❤️
That’s awesome so glad you have taken the time to see these amazing creatures in a different light ❤️❤️❤️
I love the answer to the mesh lids "sheep"
Biggest pet peeve in this hobby is the regurgitation of rhetoric as if it's first hand knowledge. Everybody wants to come off as intelligent, regardless whether it's fact or not, you can't come off as intelligent when all you say is "BAAAAAAAHHHHHH"
Thanks from California Dave and camera lady!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Me too, I see people post that in FB groups, every single day, and it drives me nuts! They get really upset if you tell them it isn’t necessary!
Cool snakes indeed 👍
There are two UA-camrs I tend to absorb most of what they say. One is Dave and the other is Chad from 1st508th Airborne because both guys are very calm and respectful to the animals. Also the Mexican Red Knee is the spider I had my first nightmare about when I was around 5 I think, my Mum took years to convince me it was a nightmare and not real, I must've been watching a nature show or something. I find the tarantula pretty interesting these days.
😂m. M
Me and my wife have the same development like you 2, relating to the hobby. It's wonderful to have someone who shares the same love for this amazing animals.
Greetings from germany 🕷️
It sure does help ❤️👍
You two are doing great work. We are spoiled. Thank you!
Thanks so much!
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hey Dave! I got a question
In the future when you do rehouse care videos, could you use the world map if you still got it and show us where the spider is from? Visual queues help me remember because I was never the best with geography 😅
Dave you and your lovely wife are what makes your channel! You are so informative and just all around wonderful people! Loved this video for sure
Thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️❤️
It was because of this channel that at the ripe old age of 51 i got my first slings, over came my fear of spiders and creepy crawlys and gave me a new respect for inverts of all kinds
Thats awesome my friend ❤️👍
Dave you and Camera Lady are the best! I’m one of the never owned a spider in my life : )
Catch a small jumping spider and give it a home. You might fall in love. Jumpers are the gateway to the hobby . So cute and animated
top show Dave. I do not keep spiders but love yours show Brian, Australia Queensland.
great video Dave and camera lady, informative and relaxed as always😊👍
God save the Dave! And the camera lady(queen)
Thank you ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Love this video. Reptiles next for me, on tropical fish and crayfish at the moment so looking forward to husbandry videos on reptiles. I have a sneaky feeling one day I may get a spider, because of you.
Go for it ❤️👍
Watched this late, only thing to add is," Be calm, be gentle and love your spider fairy." Also if you ever have a ceiling full of baby "escapees" maybe a spider fairy can grab a pic?
Dave is very generous with his sharing of what he has learned. He holds the welfare of spiders above his secrets to success with them. I didn’t even know that I was interested until I happened upon this channel. Now I watch all his videos with enthusiasm. Who knew the spider wizards wand was an artists brush? Hahaha.
❤❤❤❤
Your the ONLY spider man I watch 😂 you still help me sleep and my phobia is not as bad 🙄 but I still can’t be near it so for now I watch 😂❤
❤❤❤❤
Everybody give a like who is looking forward to watching Dave & Camara Lady's video tomorrow. 👍
❤❤❤
Hell yeah!
A Dave & Tom collab would be epic! The 2 keepers i respect the most getting together would be invaluable to us all! ❤
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
That is me almost. I kept one tarantula when my kids were little. I love jumping spider's. Lol
Awesome well done 👍 ❤️
Amazing amount of information tysm for your time ..what a pleasure to listen.
Thank you so much 😊
I enjoyed this video. I would love to have a" How to care for your tarantula " guide book from you.
Thank you so much 😊
I absolutely loved your question an answering Video so very interesting please please do it again, We all still have a lot of questions .💖👍🕷
Great video, great questions and great answers, thank you both for entertaining and educating us. Dave, I love your attitude to the "patreon" question, too many people see UA-cam as a business, it's refreshing to hear your response to the question. I'd definitely buy some merchandise for myself and kids, I'd love some T shirts and hoodies, keep up the great work👍🏻👍🏻❤️
Thank you it’s important to get value ❤️❤️❤️
Such a great video, explaining a lot of things about the hobby, and cool background story 👍 I had a real laugh, at 26:00 Camera Lady having listed several names, from people who asked, if Dave's ever been bitten. Getting ready to answer it looked like, and then the "good lord, there's more" expression 😂
I'm glad something truly good came out of the lockdown, and big thanks to Camera Lady, for delivering the final motivational push 😁
It's also good to know, someone is looking after you Dave, so you hopefully won't burn out, for all the good you do for us viewers 😊 But you do seem well aware, if there's a balance 😀
100% agree, it's very therapeutic seeing Spiders at their best, disarming the fear, but never the respect 😊
Thank you so much my friend ❤❤❤❤❤
That’s fantastic so cool ❤️❤️❤️
I just noticed after watching this again that down in the bottom left you had an m balfouri molting! Imagine that! Very cool!
Keep up the great work both of you 🖤🕷️😍
That was so interesting, Thank you Dave and Camera lady 👍🕷️ x
What a lovely video, I was setting up new enclosures and feeding while listening to you, felt like we were having a conversation, even though one sided ;) Nice to hear camera lady more often, she's pretty important and totally sweet!
Aw I want to ask a question 🥺 Have you ever had a spider escape into your home and found them again in a weird place?
Not yet 😂👍
@@daveslittlebeasties Thank you x
I am new to the hobby from the Texas and I am admire you so much! I may not comment like I should, but the husbandry I have learned from you has made me a lot more calm and confident. You and Camera Lady are amazing and I love you guys so much! Thank you for educating me on how to be a better a Spider Dad. I am looking forward to more 2023 content!
Thats awesome thank you 🙏❤
Crackin’ good video! I started collecting Spiders 2 years ago, and I have watched every video on your channel! I have learned so much valuable information from you. I’m going to pretend I didn’t hear your comment about jumping spiders! 😂😂
😂😂😂😂❤
i've been keeping about 2 yrs as well! learning so much from these videos!
Dave this has to be for me one of your very best videos, very interesting and your knowledge is top draw 👍 camera lady did a fantastic job with you as always but was very nice to hear her on a more conversational way throughout the video, well done to the both of you.
👍👍👍
Wow, thank you❤️❤️❤️❤️
Very lucky :)
Stay safe and thanks for sharing :)
Thank you for all you do Dave loved this video and if it wasn't for you I don't think I would have my beasties xxx
Thank you Gemma ❤️❤️❤️
Fantastic video Dave and camera lady. Really enjoyable and informative. Thank you 😊
Glad you enjoyed it
Just finished the video.
Thats awesome happy hunting at the show ❤👍
I’ve been a subscriber for quite some time now, and I must say it was really nice to watch a q & a from you guys. And I rather enjoyed Camera Lady being a bigger part of the video too! I almost feel like I know you guys a little better. 😊 Thank you for everything you do! 🙌🏼 Congrats on the continued growth of the channel as well!
Thank you Sarah ❤️
Hi Dave: Mrs. Camera Lady shares so much of your fun that I’ve come to appreciate her humor and gentleness despite never getting to see her! One of these days might we be introduced to lovely Camera Lady if she would be willing? As always, love your videos!
Thanks so much she is very shy ❤️
Really enjoyed the video. It's always fun to learn about someone you enjoy spending time with - even virtually. Especially enjoyed your sharing your appreciation and affection for your local enclosure cleaning fairy. I've been with my Mister for a good 30 years and counting now and I don't know that he'll be turning a hand at cleaning fairy any time soon!
😂😂😂❤
Your calm knowledge is comforting. The knowledge is new to me. In my home years ago, there was a large wolf spider who came out. Stood watch. It returned over several years. It was a sort of companion. Wouldn't kill it or let any other of my family. Never knew there were so many tarantulas.
You are like me. Your favorite anything. spider , flower, song is the one you are working with at that moment.
❤❤❤❤👍
i realy apprecait you taking the time to answer all the Q.
I really appreciate that ❤️👍
Just watched your Q&A vid and it was as interesting and entertaining as the actual spider “documentaries” you produce. 1:42:12
Wow, thank you! we really appreciate your support my friend ❤️❤️
man im eighteen years old how cool it is how many different age groups this interest transcends big love and respect to you
Love you both! What a nice “visit” I feel like I had with a terrific couple
Awesome ❤️❤️❤️❤️
What is the longest living tarantulas you’ve ever had?
Thank you 🙏
Thanks for answering my question Dave. Brilliant stuff.
Thank you so much for your kind words it makes me very happy to think people are enjoying their spiders more and gaining some help along the way ❤
Really enjoyed this, the longest youtube video iv ever watched but it certainly didnt feel it. I really look forward to Mondays and Thursdays with a cup of tea and checkout what you have posted up. Keep up the great work Dave, it is hugely appreciated! 👍
Thank you 🙏
Dave and Camera Lady, thank you for all of your interesting, informative videos. All of your tarantulas are beautiful. That's a compliment from someone who has been arachnophobic all of her life. 💜💜
Thank you so much 😊 ❤️
Dave, Camera Lady.
You help us a lot mr. Dave thank you 🙏 👌😊
So nice of you❤️
David.. you and your lady are just great people It has been my privilege to find and watch your videos.. Love and respect from my family to yours.. Just coordinated my replacement Tarantula for my senior Girl who died after 18 years of a wonderful experience. She gave me great joy and satisfaction, and I hope I provided her the best experience.
Sorry for your loss.
Sorry to heat your loss but what an achievement too 15 years of top quality care you should be very proud of yourself ❤️👍
