They're both great games to watch and have their subtle differences that reward different types of athleticism and strategy. Super Rugby has undergone rule changes that have sped up the ruck so much so that most rucks cycle over quicker than a play-the-ball. And watch France or Finn Russell play and tell me it's not entertaining. It is possible to enjoy both.
Well said, I'm Irish, we don't have league here. We are enjoying a really good patch. I know Aussie rugby is having hard time, can't believe the super Rugby crowds sometimes. The NRL has a great set up with the tight statiudms and atmosphere. Hope they can strike a balance in future, so much talent over there.

Going back to suburban grounds with more atmosphere (like Saturday afternoon in the sun at Coogee Oval by the beach with a few marquees to increase the capacity) would be a good start.

Smaller grounds would make so much more sense financially, for the atmosphere, for the tv product. As you say, the right place to start.

Best convert both ways was without a doubt Brad Thorne.. championships on both sides with the Broncos and Crusaders, State of origin winner with QLD and a world cup winner with one of the best if not best All Blacks teams.

I never understood Brad's eligibility in both codes. In Rugby League he played for both Qld & Australia but in Rugby Union he played for the All Black's. Rugby League's eligibility criteria is ridiculous anyway but never understood how he could play 2 different codes for 2 different countries
Best league convert in my opinion was Brad Thorn, guys was a freak, and to become a world class lock where the roles of the forwards are vastly different to league was amazing.
Yea not a Union fan but have a lot of Union loving friends who all will tell you Brad's strength and determination made a huge impact at lock for the ABs. He is right up with the best locks of all time plus you can't help like the guy.

The best thing he has done now is getting over to union. Build himself up and return to league as a complete player. He we grow as a player in union, develop a kicking game, and come back a well rounded and a much better player. The best thing for his league career in the long run.

As an Aussie who loves both Union and league, the All blacks would annihilate any league team, club teams and international, both Australian and New Zealand teams. Saw big Brad Thorne in a cafe in Christchurch years ago. Made the chair look like one of those plastic toddler chairs they sit on, a large man.

As an Aussie who loves both Union and league, the All blacks would annihilate any league team, club teams and international, both Australian and New Zealand teams. Playing either league or union, All blacks win. There is a reason more kiwis play union than league. They are the peak of both sports in my opinion.
As a kiwi there's zero chance the all blacks are beating the Kiwi's or the Kangaroos in rugby league 😆
All Blacks aren't even the number 1 union team. League players are on a different level in speed, agility, skills
