My favorite owl was a Snowy Owl that showed up in Cypress, California around the first of the year in 2023. We made the drive up from San Diego and it was sitting on top of a house in a suburban neighborhood.
This past year I was lucky enough to be privy to a nesting site for GHOS. Saw one of the two hop out of his nest onto a higher branch the day after his sibling fledged (never saw either officially fledge). I’m also blessed enough to work at a nature center with a resident GHO so I get to feed and care for one all the time!
It’s amazing! She came to us 13 years ago as an imprint. Now she’s getting older and is losing her vision and is on daily pain meds. Her QOL is still high though! Hopefully we have her for a few more years.
Good morning to you. Singapore has the Black-napped Oriole birds. Both MALE and Female look different in plumage appearance, but both are yellow, and the FEMALE is paler than the MALE. The MALE has red/orangey beak, whereas the FEMALE does not.
This was a crazy but awesome day! Thanks for birding with my goofy self again. Also thanks for the shout-out!
Thanks for inviting me! Happy birthday!
The shots of the birds keep getting better! Hammonds Flycatcher and Sandhill Crane were both so good
Thanks Hawkin I appreciate you saying that!
What a day! Seventy-seven species is fantastic ( flat tire was your bird tax). And what a sunset!
Thank you!! Haha, I definitely agree, the flat tire was definitely the price for amazing birding and a beautiful sunset.
Good stuff young man😎
Young bird watchers, love it😉
Thanks for watching!
Congratulations on the flammulated owl! I remember seeing an eastern screech owl at night when driving home on the 4th of July.
Thanks! That would be an awesome bird to see on a holiday!

Oh wow, a Snowy in California?! That's pretty incredible! Did it end up okay in the end?
It was checked out by Ca game and fish and they said it was healthy. Was there about a week then moved on.
