sometimes i just watch gus johnson and charlie berens videos so i can pretend i'm hanging out with my cousins. they're the perfect channels for when i'm homesick.
Yes me too! My dad is from Wisconsin and he is 1 of 9 (Catholic Family🤣), so half of my family is there. My dad moved to Washington, so that’s where I was raised, but we spent every Summer in Wisconsin. I always loved it there, and considered it my other home. I miss and love all my cousins there. So I related to your comment, I watch for the same reason.
Although two years old, still great to see Charlie making it based on some of the quirkiness we take for granted, but helps define all of us from this great state. Wholesome fun. Keep at it, Charlie!
Everyone's all "he's so handsome!!!" Yous guys need to visit MN and WI. That is just how they're made around these parts. I like to think the cold is good for DNA health.
That's the dumbest shit I've ever heard. Lol that's how they make them there? Have you actually seen those people? Fat and disgusting stupid and lazy that's how they really make them there
I’m from the city and always only ever heard bad jokes about the Midwest and about how it was a hellhole but he’s definitely opened my eyes to how lovely the people are. Makes me think of NY back in the day when it had small town vibes. I’m looking forward to visiting Wisconsin and the Midwest after lockdown now.
Dear Charlie, I love you. I am thrilled to see a glimpse of the real you. I had the honor to see you live in concert tonight in RF, WI. You are totally wonderful and I love that you can see areas where you can move to other topics. Please add more “Ope” and “Keep ‘er Movin” to your live show.
His act may be that he's a big goofus, but this interview shows how handsome he really is. And that SMILE, WoW! Too bad I'm probably old enough to be his Mom.😉
I respect him more now knowing he prefers squeaky cheese curds. I worked at the very first Culver's in Sauk City, so y'all know I love fried cheese curds, but squeaky is OG.
squeaky cheese curds and non-squeaky cheese curds are in two completely different food groups. I love stopping at Eldridge Cheese to pick up a bag or 2 of warm, made-the-same-day curds.
I enjoyed this interview! He's so genuine and it is inspirational & awesome! Oh and Charlie, I really like the double screen shift when you say "Oh my gosh!" in your Manitowoc Minute videos-please keep this as it adds emphasis!
I am not from Wisconsin, but my paternal family is rooted there and I LOVE it. I have visited many times (for family reunions) and it is beautiful. I wish I could talk my husband and (grown) kids interested moving there. My great Aunt had a natural spring (man, it was freezing) on her land and one of my favorite memories is jumping in and swimming with my cousins. Also, never had a cheese curd until I was ~14 and they are absolutely delicious (not fried).
My first time on this channel and I am enjoying it. Charlie is a pretty boy-he should be a model. One of my physicians was born and raised in Wisconsin, and although he has an accent to these southern ears, I have never had a problem understanding him. However, I know a native Minnesotan whom I can barely understand. I think I could understand him if he didn’t sound as though he was talking with a mouthful of marbles.
Allie , I live in Missouri also. ST. Louis area. I’m a Wisconsin native as well. Some of his sayings are spot on, “ slippery than snot!” “ Tell your Mom I said Hi.” I just wonder what city he is actually from!?
Someone once told me Wisconsineans talk like drunk Canadians! I love Wisconsin! During the Corona lock down I've been trying to learn the native language, Drunkinese! I'm not good on learning new languages but I'm pretty good at drinking beer!
Burningredroses he is so good using humour to empathize his messages , which makes him so relatable however his over the top quirkinesses is a give away . My best friend in high school was brilliant at this kind of humour and like Charlie he always had a message to bring across . We are almost in our 70s now and he still can bring humour to any of life’s good and bad times .
Keep up the good work Charlie. Wisconsin has come from German alcoholics and dairy farmers to a formidable state to be reckoned with. It’s with your efforts, and others leaders of the state who are in touch with the goings on of the country that keeps us authentic. It’s fun to watch us Wisconsinites grow up.
I got you one better. My sisters were 6 Marys: Mary Lucille, Mary Kimberly, Mary Elizabeth, Mary Sara, Mary Cynthia, and Mary Kathleen. My mom realized it would be a problem when the oldest girl went into high school and she was called Mary. So she abbreviated the Mary to M.
Currently S of Cudahy...Charlie's posts make me so 😊! I'm an early transplant to Oconomowoc....Had to learn Bubbler real quick so my teachers would let me get a drink!!! LG, UW-Madison, Milwaukee followed, along with nice people, day drinking, camping, ice fishing and skiing... summers trips to Wiscinsin Dells, Rice Lake and hunting cabins/camps up nort', Door County fish boils, Culvers' butter burgers and custard ....kringles and krullers and state fair funnel cakes! So glad we didn't stay all the way S in Ill where girls got a truck at 16 and a husband at 18, and a Southern accent to go with it. Geez....makes me wanna go fix me a Brandy Old Fashion & whiskey (Canadian Club, of course) Manhattan right now. Ask your folks their favorite recipes when you tell them I says Hi! Go Pack!! F the Bears!!!
I can take da cheese curds either way as long as he’s eatin da cheese. But oh boy der, he looks like quite da pretty boy in dis video. He’s much more relatable in da Manitowoc minute.
I am from Florida and I love his humor. I have visited WIsconsin several times and I always got me a good feelin about them there. Yu no keepin er movin in Florida.
Grandma from WI but grandpa was from MI, so I grew up in MI and was kinda a foriegn exchange kid in WI in summer and xmas. Always slip into the accent when in WI or in Calumet/UP. Makes my wife and daughter laugh.
I loved learning more about Charlie Berens! He's hilarious! I'm proud to be from/still living in WI! 🧀🐄 (Sidenote: Why are the interviewer's eyes so red?? Did anyone else notice that?)
Alright, Charlie has been in Wisconsin for many years, and he does have an authentic accent. You don't really hear the Wisconsin accent in bigger cities due to people not from Wisconsin being there and mixing in their accent. If you live in the rural, or small towns, and typically more up north is when the accent is more apparent. I know people who naturally talk like his exaggerated accent. Also, who gives af if she likes him or not. If I was a girl I'd be over Charlie too. Who gives af if their eyes are red, I'd be smoking before an interview too.
Pittsburgh Dad has the same kind of story. Its not a far reach, but it makes perfect sense - familiarity, along with an image that is recognizable, humor, and the retention factor (keep coming back, and back, and...) spells success. Hollyweird has forgotten this...
He could do a Wisconsin working man comedy family show - I could see it. Sort of a better looking Dan Connor type who goes to the gym (secretly), drinks lots of beer and spends a lot of time lying about fish and fishing.
I am originally from way up north from superior and I have lived down here in Madison for 10 years and people will ask me where I am from. I tell them from Madison and they say, no way you are, you sound Canadian because of my accent. Lived in SD and some people said omgosh I love your accent another time I went to visit a friend in northern California and his daughter is laughing so I asked her what's so funny and she says your accent and I said oh I'm sorry I will stop talking and she goes no keep talking I like it it.
There is some very real genius in this Wisconsin-born lad, 1 of 12 (!!) ; he has that same intelligence at Billy Connolly -- to really dive into a specific and well known landscape and share it with us in its richness, humor and insight.
You can tell the accent is contagious when Mariah ask Charlie his transition from "habby" to a career. I learned more about Mariah than Charlie with this interview.
Crap, I'm actually disappointed to discover that it's a character. I had convinced myself that his accent really is that thick and that he really does employ those colloquialisms on a regular basis-in real life. I'm deeply saddened now, and I have cancelled my Oconomowoc vacation.

Hell yeah both hilarious
Eyy they just did a collab
Amen to that.
Me too, which is weird because I'm from Tennessee.
"We actually have two Marys, that's how Catholic we are."
HAHAHAHA!! Yep.
😂🤣😂
So very true here.
🤣
That first date went really well judging by the body language.
Charlie Berens is one of the funniest men on the comedy scene. He is the real deal.
Although two years old, still great to see Charlie making it based on some of the quirkiness we take for granted, but helps define all of us from this great state. Wholesome fun. Keep at it, Charlie!
Love watching his videos when I’m stressed. He always makes me laugh - lightens my heart.
He’s so cute! He has that James Dean stare. What a face! And personality! 😂
Soooo freaking cute. I would be so giddy, as I feel she is 😊
He totally has that James Deen Stare. If you know you know. Lmao!❤️
Omg I thought james dean too
She fell into the accent when she said hobby lol
Ha! Guilty.
Haha, just the one word too! Random is as random does
Everyone's all "he's so handsome!!!" Yous guys need to visit MN and WI. That is just how they're made around these parts. I like to think the cold is good for DNA health.
Thanks, had no clue hotties lived in the cold
🤣
It's that Scandinavian/German DNA... And I'm guessing some Irish. Ironically his name, Berens, means BEAR in German, 😂.
I can confirm this is true! My husband was born and raised in MN, moved to WA and I landed him!
That's the dumbest shit I've ever heard. Lol that's how they make them there? Have you actually seen those people? Fat and disgusting stupid and lazy that's how they really make them there
He's a keeper. Keep er movin'. Great interview. Just recently discovered his Manitowoc Minute. It is clear he enjoys what he is doing.

I like Charlie, he seems like a real solid guy, and a credit to America.
His act may be that he's a big goofus, but this interview shows how handsome he really is. And that SMILE, WoW! Too bad I'm probably old enough to be his Mom.😉
Ella, remember-age is just a number! We aren't OLD. 😜
@Ella Robertson,
Don't know why this only popped up today but you made me laugh out loud with a mouthful of tater tot! 😂
It's funny because as someone from the east coast, the Wisconsin accent only half goes away when he's talking normally.
I respect him more now knowing he prefers squeaky cheese curds. I worked at the very first Culver's in Sauk City, so y'all know I love fried cheese curds, but squeaky is OG.
squeaky cheese curds and non-squeaky cheese curds are in two completely different food groups. I love stopping at Eldridge Cheese to pick up a bag or 2 of warm, made-the-same-day curds.

it's definitely...interesting. :-)
Us aussies almost never hear this kind of accent 😂
Being extremely good looking that never hurts as well keep er movin
Its funny how theres the Manitowoc minute Wisconsin accent and then his Wisconsin accent, ya know?
Michael Wied Hr said he majored in journalism, maybe he took elocution lessons?
Well, he is just handsome, isn't he?? 😍😏
Gorgeous and funny all in the same sentence! Can't get better than that!
Very nice interview. Mariah really has a great style and actually listens to Charile's answers.
He’s scoping her out and flirting a bit…snicker. 🥰
im not gay but i think i love this man

nicely done - a lot to this state
Yup
I swear, he could be Jude Law's much funnier brother.
A mix between James Dean and Jude law
@Doris Barkler Nice pfp even though I don’t know what it’s from

Ya know? I've been a cheesehead my whole life of 56 years and was never even aware we HAD an 'accent'!! This shit is FUNNY!!!
Most people don't realize they have one haha.
He's really a handsome guy, dude man, writer, comic. Lol
You are a Midwest genius. I live in Missouri, but so much of this rings true for me, too. Brilliant!

It's Wisconsinites!! lol
I love this dude and his Midwest UA-cam channel. It’s nice to hear what he really sounds like.
Fun to hear what his voice actually sounds like, and a bit about his philosophy for his content.
Goodness he’s attractive
I didn't realize he was playing a character. I thought that was really him. I didn't realize it was am exaggeration.

As another Wisconsinite said "all the news that isn't"
"That is how Catholic we are" -- so true lmao
3D_tha_God as he said in another clip mass produced
You are amazing...your accent is still there even when u talk normal!☺
I can take da cheese curds either way as long as he’s eatin da cheese.

I bet he has had Late's deep fried cheese curds or their fries with mayo. Can't eat da fried stuff forever.
Great Interview
I am from Florida and I love his humor. I have visited WIsconsin several times and I always got me a good feelin about them there. Yu no keepin er movin in Florida.
His character reminds me of Bob and Doug McKenzie.
Aina hey?
I’ve always loved doing that accent too, so fun! I picture Charle staring in sitcom, set up nort dare once in so. Would be well received I think ...
I want to play the squirrely dan in that show if I could.
I’ll do set design. My yard is full of farm shit and antiques, and things picked out of the garbage so I think I’m over qualified der ey.
I could see him being the Wisconsin version of LetterKenny
The Midwest Jude Law 🖤

Aw you can see her eyes tear up when talking about not making it in LA.

Cheese curds.. Fried is good, but fresh is king. Room temp. Come at me.
