It's 4 or 5 hits but Rock Blast is a 90% hit rate move so they missed the 10% roll. If it lands it will roll the 4 or 5. It's the fact Rock Blast is 90% and not 100%.
If you'd done aqua jet you might have had a chance with the cc and potentially a Mach punch but that was definitely a back against the wall moment. I wonder if sacking infernape over slow and chomp would have been better. It's easy for us in the comments to comment with hindsight though
I think Aqua Jet would’ve help made the difference. But I understand what you were trying to do, you wanted to make sure that CC would finish the game so you went for liquidation and there was a chance you would survive an attack. IDK if the crit mattered or not but like you said it was a GG. Looking forward to the next post.
