The very best hook's. A good fisher person should have no problem bring out a good size fish. Play it right don't get carried away with yanking. Sometimes going with the flow works for you but it can also work against you, just take your time. After all the fight is what we are after it gives us experience which is always good. already have caught a 30# Blue Cat off of these (going to try to get a 60#+ next year). ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxzXmlErSqVAEGWFEKO530BvTqFDw53QW3 Definitely very strong, and sharp. Additionally, the gap is wide enough to actually hook a fish (not always the case with circle hooks). I purchased the 8/0, but probably should have got the 9/0 (they seem slightly smaller than other 8/0 hooks). Additionally, having the point in-line helps if you drift fish. I have yet to get a serious snag with one of these hooks.
When you said “ lowered on a big hook…”, I was certain that you were going to say “that they made, of course”! Lol! Oh the things that amuse us when we are alone and bored. Oh look,….there’s butterfly! Weeeeee!
At 1:50, there is no way that you are going to compress and make denser the metal when drawing it out. This process is intended to thin the thickness of the wire, thus making it longer. You can make metal denser, by multiple heatings and beating the metal while rotating by hand , turning over and squashing the metal however, there is only a certain amount of this can be done without intense hydraulic forces. Just needed to make it clear in case an amateur blacksmith might not understand this. I do not mean to nit-pick your story. Warmest regards.
I hate when they do that it's top secret this top secret that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT'S HOW IT'S MADE NOT HOW IT'S SECRETLY MADE!!! IDIOTS!!!!!!!!!!!!
of course what they don't say is that, of course the fish is 400 pounds, but the biggest reels can only offer about 100 pounds of drag, so it's really not in the danger zone
will attempted to prove you wrong, but only proved you more right, i'm not sure he has learned the art of debating quite yet, hopefully he has improved since he last posted this. the fact that most people would not be battling by hand more than 30lbs of drag even more so emphasizes the fact that the weight limit of the hook is not being approached. fishes don't have to pull that hard to make you feel like you're pulling up twice what it weighs due to you losing mechanical advantage and due to the fact pulling up a road is different from lifting up a weight against your body.
This video would be better if I could hear it.I have my volume all the way up and still can barely hear the video and any other UA-cam video set at the same volume is loud
I've read the comment several times that these hooks are bad for catfishing . Explain why. And how team catfish has better hooks. I use team catfish products. Mustache makes a circle hook fine wire. That works very well for catfish. And also is a strong hook and is not hard on baitfish. So can someone explain to me how Mustad makes a bad catfish hook?
They work perfectly fine for catfishing. Most catfish anglers are used to offset circle hooks that catch wherever they touch . True circles you gotta use them right which most dont know how to do. Team cats are offset
Mustad dropped the best hooks they ever made . The Sneck pattern flatted eye in sizes like 1 and 1/0 . Someone at Mustad thinks they only get used for black fish with weed as a bait . Wrong !
@Cerus98 Not what he's talking about dimwit. This commercial made it sound like mustad came up w/the circle hook. And actually they've been around for at least 1000 years, not just hundreds.
The narrator implies that they designed circle hooks. I swear by them. I always seem to have trouble "setting" regular hooks. This design works for me.
How it's made:American made. Meanwhile in Norway. Next week on American made "Gamakatsu hooks from Japan". No other country seems to be glory hunting by appending their name to the series title. How it's made is good enough.
Mustad hooks are not made in the U.S. The ONLY hooks made in the U.S., or in the Western hemisphere for that matter, are made by Eagle Claw in Denver Colorado.
@@chasnaj It says, 'Tonight at 8p All New How It's made: American made" that's something that's going to air later they're not saying mustad hooks are made in the U.S.
Cerus98 lol, when is the last time you priced a motor? Mercury has motors that push past the $30k mark. Their 350 HP Verado to be more specific. That being said, even if those motors on that boat were around the $20k mark, that's still $40k. You really think my estimate is less accurate than their $50k claim? Try pricing a 30 ft center console with twin outboard, and decked out with a tuna tower with separate piloting controls, and an electronics package that includes radar like that boat, and tell me how many $50k options you have.... Sure, you'll come across a few that are pushing 15 to 20 years old, and are likely underpowered with dual 150s on the back, but you're gonna find most are well over $100k
Cerus98 I've owned a boat several years. I'm pretty familiar with costs and worth of boat ownership. I also have a brother in law who owns a 29' center console, who had to replace his twin 250 Yamaha outboards. It cost him $48k for two 250HP with wireless steering. Like I said, good luck finding a boat like the one in the video for $50k unless you're looking for boats 15 to 20 years old
Circle hooks might only hook in the side of the mouth but at the expense of loosing fish and as a hook for striking at the fish they are inefficient . Ok on set lines and long lines that soak for ages using strong baits because the fish will have to grab multiple times to get hooked and you want easy de-hooking . Circle hooks , the fish needs to take the bait and try to swim off with it before they can get hooked . If they just bite and spit out or suck the bait they don't get hooked and even if you feel that and strike they still might not get hooked . I see circle hooks as more of a commercial fisherman's tool for long lining or set lines not so much for a person who wants to hold his fishing rod the whole time and strike at a bite .
@@zekethefishgeek8690 Yes your right a mate told me I was doing it wrong and too let the fish have more line and don't strike hard with a circle hook but I still prefer more standard hooks on a hand held rod .
@@jvalentine8376 circles are normally used for fish that run away from you when they take the bait. I use them for cobia. When fish is running away all you gotta do is point rod at thefish, tighten drag or if fishing open bail close bail and once line gets tight and drag is coming off , lift rod up slowly and fish on
the last thing he wants to do is cause harm to the fish?! yeah so getting hooked in the mouth and being dragged out of the water after fighting for who knows how many hours is not harmful right?! fact is shark will likely die from all the tramma and stress but hey at least he had a blast.

Nice video, I use Mustad Hooks and have for years
i've used mustad hooks for years and years, never let me down and worth every $
Most modern hooks wont, even those cheap canned assortments are sharp.

4:27 That's an Instron materials testing machine they're using. I worked for Instron in the UK from 1983-1989 :)
Mustad and gamakatsu are the beat choices out there
Owner
Gamakatsus break regularly. Lost a good cobia yesterday to their 8/0 circle breaking just below the barb. Bradley is right owner is alot better

good one.... wire goes in... fish hooks come out

I got taken aback with the engineer standing close to the hook tester without eye protection!
Yea hooks are important not to bend but the thin thread of monofilament amazes me more

very nice hook I like this hook
The Best. Fish Hook factory mundial
cool invention
How can i order bulk?
I like the cheaper hooks. If you lose the fish or it's a bad hook set no need to worry it will rust out fairly quickly.
Where I work, we make springs for bus and train seats. I want to start making hooks here!!! 😮 🤔
Someone want to hook fiber optics what do we do

@Cerus98 Sad when simpletons try to be average. Firstly, I just found this post. Secondly, attempt to explain how I failed & didn't comprehend.
You’re both insufferable assholes
The narrator implies that they designed circle hooks. I swear by them. I always seem to have trouble "setting" regular hooks. This design works for me.
Circle hooks were actually carved from whale bones by the Clovis, some 40,000 yrs ago!
best hooks; worked for decades; especially 1950s and 1960s
Agreed!

Can you really?! They are huge hooks!!

Hendry Hendry mine too!
You dont see Mustad hooks much on the course match fishing front at one time its all you seen in peoples tackle boxes

A boat worth $50,000? Lol, those motors alone are worth that much. Try $100 to $200 thousand

I was hoping to watch a "how it's made" and have them say sorry it's a secret. So dumb

Yessir... just let the fish load up the rod and start reeling FAST. If you set the hook or jerk it then your hook misses every time

tell their boss my husband wants to work with them
You want rid of him BAD don't you... dammit woman leave that man alone...lol
You're not going to find that shark hook for under a buck anywhere.
I bet that is probably the cost to produce.
Ok thank you smoke wood.
I use team catfish hooks
Mustad is a good hook but I prefer gamagatsu hooks. Just because it's the hook my dad used and the hooks I've always used.
Worst how it's made ever. It's all a secret still?
Anglers choice since jon was a boy
maybe stop making things to kill sharks.. i fish but shark fishing is immoral torture.
