    Great to see the rangie getting some love again. When I did the footwells in my Disco I got that wheel well. Sounder deadner stuff and did the whole floor in the front. Also on the outside as you said when it's on it does a great job of protecting the metal.

    Excellent progress in this episode and really sensible to go back and do the work to a standard you're happier with, it really does look like it's paid off with the results you've been getting compared to the early episodes. I accidentally ended up with another project recently and Soup updates help keep me focused on the jobs ahead.

    Well done George! It's great to see such good progress on the Vogue! And the promo video is great too. I enjoyed your opening remarks about motivation and I think you're onto something. Here's a state of the fleet report; My Vogue is now back on LPG and running nicely. Found an excellent guy in Luton who gave the gas system a proper service. The original installation is poor though and there were one or two concerns so I'll have to take it back to him for some rectification. But that did mean we could do our Christmas road trip over to Somerset, up to Worcester, then Northampton and back home with no worries. On the SD1 Vitesse I've rebuilt the brake master cylinder and bagged an ebay brake balancing valve (hen's teeth - first I've seen in four years) and installed that. Now I have the rear wheel cylinders to do and then it will be back on the road too - I've really missed driving it.

    • @soupclassicmotoring
      @soupclassicmotoring  5 років тому

      The old black magic of the LPG system, I suspect it's one of those very simple things like wiring that everyone is scared to mess with. Getting close with the SD1! You'll have to make a video of that for us ;)

      @@soupclassicmotoring Just finished replacing the leaking rear wheel brake cylinder and stuck some new shoes in on the passenger side rear drum. @@soupclassicmotoring George, you are doing a fantastic job, I was following the Esprit and was confused to see you up to your waist in a Range Rover!
      After many self restorations I know it's difficult to get motivated especially during the winter months. Always remember.....It (The project) will look uglier and uglier the more work you carry out, cutting out various pieces of bodywork, getting frustrated that the work isn't quite up to the standard, going back over it to prove you were right, until you reach that point where it all starts coming together and you can see the end in sight.
      So many people abandon their projects relatively early on due to totally underestimating the time and cost to see it through. My advice for what it's worth, is to totally immerse yourself in the car you are restoring. Go and see as many similar cars as yours, in as many different states of repair from "Crap to Concours" to get an understanding of what level you want to restore your car to. There will ALWAYS be someone out there will criticise your car when finished, whether it's the paint finish or choice of colour of the interior. TAKE NO NOTICE.....like I said, establish the level of finish YOU can achieve and within your budget.
      Keep up the fantastic videos, I know exactly what it's like!!
