Awesome video and great info! Ather is too costly and filled with too many features which is resulting in higher price for the vehicle. If they can simply omit too many features and make simple scooter just like chetak then everyone will love to buy them because of price
Ather 450x maybe the best but what i think is it is too costly for a scooter price if u see usually 2 wheeler are around (activa) 70k* and iqube dont seems to be that great and also tvs i dont feelthat premium brand to pay 1 lac for it (my thought) . Bajaj chetak is a best combination of electric and features it got is sufficient for me atleat and i guess for average city traveller 20km a day is a more than enough travel , like i live in a small city and its great for me i travel less than 15km so the charge will last a week for me and also it is reallycost effective compared to petrol , and for speed petrol 2 wheeler go lil high (activa) around 80* i guesss ,and also i own one petrol activa4g which on full tank of around 5litres (500rs) runs 250km max and this thing is worst about activa if u see the yearly cost of petrol 2 wheeler vs electric :) i guess someone will be helped , gonna buy chetak soon as primary and keep activa for emergency haha petrol is toooo much high.

I heard IndaneOil is adding electric charging stations to all of it's petrol pumps. Don't know if that's true but I'm crossing my fingers and I hope the infrastructure cathes up.

My daily commute is 40 to 50 KM in a 4 years old Jupiter which derives 36 kmpl approx. I will switch to an EV and waiting for a launch of Chetak or TVS Icube. I appreciate Ather's efforts to raise the bar in EV world but, they are asking for some extra bucks which may not appeal to some daily commuters.
So I agree with your ending statement to choose a KTM 125 instead of racing around in a scooter.

What will be the running, maintenance cost for long term say 5yrs. After sometime the efficiency of battery will reduce,so will the charging time. What abt your electricity bill, how will it perform under rainy conditions,cost of spare parts, at some point of time you will need to replace the entire battery,cost for the same. Anyways very nice scooter by bajaj. Price is also spot on. Same as for Dominar 400

I driven Chetak today..Does it is locked to 75 Km/hr? while i was on down slope I noticed some kind de-acceleration or locking past 69Km/hr
That's regenerative braking, the scooter slows itself down aggressively if you let go off the accelerator so it can recharge it's batteries, kinda like a dynamo powering a light on old cycles.

Ather beats Bajaj hands down. Ather is a truly indian designed and manufactured scooter. Truly Indian.
Bajaj can beat ather, but the purpose of Chetak is purely for middle class people who look for economic usage. Ather has a scam policy where we have to pay Rs. 1999 every month for Ather 450x "Pro" subscription plus Rs. 8400 per annum for "Ather One" subscription. This comes to Rs. 32,388 in one year!! God damn!! Not just that, I have spoken to people who own Ather. They all say that practically, no services will be required by the owner for paying this much money! They rarely get software updates too! So basically, they all said we have to pay 32k every year for nothing! :D
In case of Chetak, for one full year, it will cost just about Rs. 2000!! Where is 32k per annum and where is 2k per annum!? :D
Ather beats bajaj only in speed, but not economically! Their target for perfect middle class has hit spot on compared to Ather's scam subscription model!

I am sure they will justify their scheme. Ather has set up infrastructure for charging before launch. Every four km you will find a charging station in Bangalore. They are putting up similar infrastructure in other cities like Hyderabad and Chennai. What Bajaj is doing? Rajeev Bajaj is into name calling and saying all sorts of nonsense for those who come up with electric scooters. He quotes "it seems like in our country, there is a new electric vehicle launched every day. I watch with amazement how people who have spent their whole lives making batteries or motors or just plain steel suddenly want to put a button on their cost thinking they can make electric vehicles tomorrow as if it happens at the snap of a finger. I even more amazed to see how people who have done nothing but imported air-conditioners or refrigerators or mobile phones from China suddenly want to revolutionize our roads by making electric vehicles out of thin air." And see what he has done. A plain cheap copy of a Chinese product. He can't even design a scooter. Even many components in his scooter are imported from China. Look at the design of Ather. It is designed and manufactured in India unlike Bajaj. They are just new Indian startup. We really need to appreciate those young Indian Ather's entrepreneurs challenging the might of giants like Bajaj.

Do remember for the ather 450x you have to pay 20000+ a year for the subscription and for as long as you own the scooter.
How many units of electricity will one full charge consume? That will help calculate the per km cost of the scooter
Its a 2KW Battery hence 2KW of electricity meaning 2 units of electricity.
विजय जैन means for 4 hours it consumes 8 units at one time charge
Means 32 units if u travel 10 kms in a day

Charging takes way longer times than filling petrol in a vehicle. Nobody's gonna go to a charging station and charge their electric two wheeler investing 15/30/45/60 minutes of their time. The only way electric two wheelers or three wheelers will be freely adopted by the masses is by implementing battery swapping stations and not battery charging stations.

No Electric scooter is launched in South India, particularly in Tamilnadu and Kerala tier-2 cities like coimbatore, madurai, trichy, trishur, cochin etc.... All electric scooter want to sell only in Bangalore, and pune which is why the availability is more there and no one is buying.. Pls try our cities where more college students are there...

If we buy scooter about Rs 35000 then we can by battery about Rs 85000, 85 ah lithium ion battery it will give you mileage about 130 km to 150 km guarantee.

Hyderabad will probably get it sooner than most of the country because Hyderabad has a very healthy two wheeler culture. Therefore a more promising market than most other cities. So I imagine u won't have to wait too long.

Charging takes way longer times than filling petrol in a vehicle. Nobody's gonna go to a charging station and charge their electric two wheeler investing 15/30/45/60 minutes of their time. The only way electric two wheelers or three wheelers will be freely adopted by the masses is by implementing battery swapping stations and not battery charging stations. Also as ICE vehicles are sold without lifetime of petrol, electric vehicles like 2 n 3 wheelers need to be sold minus the battery to make initial investment of buying an electric vehicle economical. Investing 1lakh+ in an electric vehicle without the facility to take battery home to charge independently and having speeds less than 60 KMs n having range only upto 75-85 KM per charge is not going to find many buyers. A select few buyers which will not be even 5% of a city's two wheeler population interested to buy such premium classy product n not a practical product, doesn't do any good ro reduce pollution.
There needs to be a standard in battery implementation across all two wheelers, similar to all ICE two wheelers being run on petrol. A standard battery with capacities of 1KW/2KW from a single or a couple of battery manufacturer needs to be implemented, such that any electric two wheeler from any manufacturer can go to a battery swapping station and just swap the drained battery with a charged battery and payup some amount which includes cost of charging, cost of setup n maintenance of a battery swapping station, govt revenue (remember govt gonna loose bigtime in terms of VAT n Excise duty on petrol, the reason why govt is also not serious in implementing strict electric vehicle policy), revenue for vehicle manufacturer as they too gonna loose bigtime bcoz of no regular parts replacement n service revenue.
Hence my Idea is to sell an electric vehicle minus the battery, so that vehicle cost comes down by half. Its economical now. Promote it as a pollution less vehicle and not as a vehicle which will run for cheap claiming driving it costs less than 20paise/Km. Promote it as a green vehicle. Less pollution, less health problems for everyone, less chances of getting hospitalised n better chances of not emptying lifetime of earnings for Pollution related illness hospitalisation. The present petrol pumps should be equipped to be battery swapping stations of the future and a customer coming to swap a drained battery with fully charged battery should be charged equal to what they pay for petrol now a days. I would quote ₹200 per battery swap where the drained battery is
