Not to bash your riding ability, but that section you struggled on would’ve been easy if you stayed more left and just stayed on the throttle. Keeping momentum is the name of the game in rough terrain

I would agree. 5 foot into the section he was mentally and physically done. ADV and off road riders need to practice skills and be fit for adventuring alone. I have been riding a very long time and wouldn't have given that section two thoughts. I constantly work on skills and keep learning to be a better safer rider. It's so easy for new riders to see people doing trails, go and buy a nice ADV bike and think they can do the same thing. Not knocking the guy and I give him credit for getting out and exploring.

Why did your trans NJ trail take you into PA? I have been making my own route for about 3 years. I know a ton of central and south NJ just not all the cool spots in the north.

Not to sound cheap, but didn’t what to pay for two nights in Round Valley/Spruce Run and only use one. There are a couple county parks in PA with camping for $20 a night. I stayed at Tinicum Park, had the place to myself. The bonus was being able to check out Frenchtown. Wasn’t too much of a detour off the TNJT.

Just saw this video, are the state campsites free, or is there a fee? I live in orange county NY and sussex NJ isn't far. I went to the overland bound site, and it shows some deep water fording videos. If you're on a bike, are there detours around this? I might try this to see if I can handle the NEBDR. Don't have any real off road experience, just a street rider. Thanks

The state campsites are not free, ranging $3-$20 per night. The more "amenities" the higher the price, High Point was $20 with a 2-night min. The first night I stayed at a Buck's county PA park just across the river from Frenchtown NJ to only have to pay for one night. Wharton State forest was $3 for the second night for the "primitive" campsite. I think it's more for non-residents.
There are plotted detours for the bigger known waterholes, Whiting, Mt Misery, etc check the link in the video description and the thread on Overland Bound. Some of the other water holes you'll run into are going to be in the pines in the southern half of the route. Usually there is a path round to avoid them, late summer/fall they're less of an issue.

@@thatadventurejawn6787 thanks, watching your video again. are there signs showing where the trail starts? and do the campsites accept credit cards? do I need a dedicated gps, or is a phone sufficient? liking your videos. subscribing so that I can see more and possibly learn something. Be safe.

Thanks @MrBikercat! There are no physical markers, blazes etc, for the TNJT, it's all digital. You can use your phone, I did. Just upload the route I have linked in the description into the GAIA GPS app. It'll probably work on other apps as well. That said, there are two major landmarks that mark the beginning and end of the trail; the Veteran's Memorial at High Point State Park and then Cape May Light House, both are easy to find with just google maps. You can run the route North to South or South to North. All campsites were reserved online and prepaid with a credit card.

Just for the sake of feedback, music is such a tricky thing, and at the 4-minute mark it took over the video...which for me is an interest loser. Looks like you had fun though and that's all that REALLY matters!!
