  • Using the active DP Repeater from Cable Matters, I can extend the cable up to 7m.
    Maybe more is possible, but 7m is enough for me.
    Crystal light available.

    Great video and info Reinhard! The bondage thumbnail is amazing as well 😆 .
    Like you, I needed an extra meter of cable recently for my new VR studio. We had recently moved and my play space was further away than before. I looked into cable extensions and repeaters but ultimately decided on getting the fiber optic cable and thankfully it was enough length.
    The fiber optic cable is amazing! Much thinner, lighter, more flexible/not stiff, only one USB and of course the extra length. I was highly skeptical paying that much but it was necessary for my set up and it was a pleasant surprise. Much nicer in every way imaginable.
    Cable Matters also makes great products! Use a half a dozen products from them myself and all have been great. Highly suggest them as well.
    Great to know you had such great experiences using these! And glad it doubles as some bondage 😂 Cheers

    Love the photo on video entry all tied up in cable haha. Good way to extend cable, thank you very much for suggestion! I wonder why there is a green layout around the room, is it VR related, do I need it too? waiting for my first ever VR pimax crystal light to be delivered hence asking. thank you!

      Hi! Thank you very much, I thought it is a good idea to try bondage :D No, you don't need a greenscreen. If you look at my gameplay videos, you can see the use of the green screen, so I can be on the picture, but you don't see the green background, you see the gameplay footage. You will love the Crystal light, what GPU are you running?

      @@liebesmaennchen Hi thanks for response! I recently bought my first PC ever. had imac from 2011 but it's for watching youtube and emails. I was looking at 4080 but bought AMD 7900xtx was is probably less supported in VR.. CPU is 7800x3d. with Playstation 5 it was plug and go. turn it on and start gaming, everything is optimised. with PC I'll spend 70% tinkering and 30% playing haha. I'm playing at the moment on my plasma TV with 60fps I capped. looks good. at least I can play Le Mans Ultimate now!

    Nice tip. Just curious why you got a Crystal Light when you already had a OG Crystal? I've got a Crystal, and am waiting to order Crystal Super when it comes out and after it's been given good reviews. I don't feel the need to get an almost identical HMD in the Crystal Light. Rather get larger FOV and resolution. Of course the main benefit of the Crystal Light is it's weight over the original Pimax Crystal.

      Thx! I use VR also in my day-to-day business, so I "need" all the new hardware to test and also, I really like testing hardware. Pimax was very kind and brought me the crystal light very early to Dortmund because we had a meeting there. Right now, I'm owning 20hmds and I love all of them. So, what hmd are you using?

    Super Tipp, ich habe den selben Repeater. Das 6m Fiber Kabel kann ich auch nur empfehlen. 👍

      Yes! Schade, dass es mit der Light nur so eine Workaround Lösung gibt

    I am also concerned about the length of the cable. I know Pimax were trying to cut costs to reduce the headset price but if they were focusing on the PCVR market by removing the standalone functionality with the light, I don't see how cutting the cable length was a good idea. PCVR peeps want long cables for flexibility. I doubt the cut would have saved that much in costs either which is more frustrating.
    Do you think your repeater adds input latency? I doubt I'd try your solution if it feel less snappy between the time you perform an action and the time it shows up in the headset.

      @liebesmaennchen  3 місяці тому +1

      I know what you mean, I would love to buy a better cable like the FOC, maybe Pimax is cooking something.
      No, I don't feel more latency and I will try to check it again in fast shooters.

    Thanks for another great video! Do you have to use 2 plug sockets for this? one for the pimax and another for the repeater

      @liebesmaennchen  3 місяці тому

      No, if you mean with the Mainboard, you only need one.

    Reinhard Roscher Be honest. Is Quest 3 better? Is Pimax Crystal Lite better?

    • @liebesmaennchen
      @liebesmaennchen  3 місяці тому +1

      I own both, the Quest 3 is good if you want to play standalone games, but the picture quality of the Crystal and Crystal light is so much better! The crystal has 80% more Pixels and a nativ DP connection, you can't achieve such quality with VD or Steamlink or with the USB Cable, and even if you set the resolution to 300%, you would not get the same quality and of course you need way more GPU Power for the decoding process. BUT I would buy both if you want the play all the games.

      @liebesmaennchen
      How do they compare in terms of brightness? I know that the aspheric lenses don't block light like pancake lenses do, but is it a huge difference?
      BTW I've noticed that Q3 units differ in peak brightness depending on the different manufacturing quality of the lenses them selves to reduce glare and blooming!
      Does the Crystal Light actually have any problems with blooming for bright objects on darker backgrounds?

    • @liebesmaennchen
      @liebesmaennchen  3 місяці тому +1

      The quest 3 is much darker, but to be honest, the crystal is too bright for my taste. It is funny how many users are now very picky because of nits and brightness, and the last years nobody bothered :D the more you know, I guess. The Crystal and the Crystal light wie local dimming is very good and of course you have some blooming, but you can change all the settings on the fly. But the quest 3 looks also good, but the gap between crystal and quest is huge.

    • @metalcrow6306
      @metalcrow6306 3 місяці тому

      @@liebesmaennchen
      Of course, the brightness of the Q3 is acceptable on all the units I tried even for the dimmer ones, but I personally would pick the panel with the higher brightness everyday, especially when the headset has some lighting dynamic range technology like local dimming on QLEDs or HDR for OLEDs. Higher brightness brings colors to life imo, makes daylight and night times more natural in certain games, hate the artifacts that break immersion like glare, compression etc.. for sure, it's personal preference, after all.
      I'm considering upgrading to the Pimax Crystal Light from Q3 for PCVR, keeping the Q3 for exclusive standalone/mixed reality titles, I personally don't play sim-titles but can't wait to try something like heavily modded SkyrimVR/ Fallout 4 VR and the upcoming Skydance's Behemoth on the CrystalLight. :D
      Thanks for your response, though!
