@@TheCopeland45 I meant to comment years ago. Back around 1987 a new friend turned me on to W D R E (formerly W L I R) ( N Y radio). ALL THE GREAT 80'S music was there !!!
The simple down-to-earth video goes great with this fabulous song. There is a lot of nostagia here. I like the yellow Sony Walkman. The British trenchcoat look was so popular in the 80's with the fans of the Smiths and New Order.
This really is one of my favorite songs by Morrissey... the music towards the end always gives me chills as it fades out. Wish it could keep playing......
A gorgeous song. One I never forgot after hearing for the first time. There have been moments when I put it on replay, it is soothing but also poignant.
Valeu Morrissey!
I remember being 19, with my Walkman (lol!) walking around downtown Minneapolis, MN, listening to this song over and over and over......clearly one of the most beautiful songs he's ever done. I think right before this one it was "Angel don't take your life?" Been a while since I listened to "Viva Hate."
Aaron Beauchamp Me too, totally. I think people miss the humor of Morrissey too. I'll bet when you were walking around with him in your head you imagined running into the guy? At the end she sees him from afar (cause he's a rock star, you know) and HE'S wearing HER shirt. Brilliant! ...and very tongue-in-cheek.
I don't understand why I always cry while listening to this amazing song. It brings me incredible memories and I feel really happy and not sad. Thanks for this Marrissey!
“Everyday Is Like Sunday” (1988) - one of Morrisey’s most successful and critically acclaimed pieces - takes place at an English seaside resort town during low season, a time when there are no tourists and hardly anyone around, especially on Sundays. Stephen Patrick Morrisey describes those Sundays as “silent and gray.” It’s so bad that he’s awaiting Armageddon to put this place out of its misery. The English singer-songwriter drew lyrical inspiration from Nevil Shute’s 1957 novel “On the Beach,” which depicts a group of people in Melbourne, Australia, awaiting nuclear fallout. Hence the line “And a strange dust lands on your hands / And on your face.” The Pretenders covered “Everyday Is Like Sunday” for the soundtrack of the American comedy-drama movie “Boys on the Side” (1995). A VERSION THAT MADE MORRISEY’S CHEEKS MOIST‼️ 💙🎼💚
I know this is set in an English seaside resort, but I had just bought the CD and was in Baltimore on a Sunday listening to it on my Walkman. Seem very appropriate walking around the Inner Harbor and Fells Point looking out at the Chesapeake Bay. I'd never been there before and it was a little eerie given the rather decrepit state of the city (and the lyrics of the song).
Although I still follow Morrissey, get the new albums, go to the shows when he tours, this will always be my favorite album and I will never forget the '91 Kill Uncle tour. Still sounds new!
Today's music is just a product for money.. no art like u said :( and it's worsening because of the social media attention hungry artificial people generation
+J.C. Indie wasn't a thing when this was released. It barely is now. What is funny though is how you busy schedule of being over weight and alone has prevented you from noticing that. Enjoy
Beautiful song, i just hear it for the first time a couple of weeks ago, I love it and replayed manny times lol, ohh 80`s!!! this one and suedehead are my favs! Thanx Morrissey!
With its piercing melody and distinct uptempo thump, this is one of the most uniquely beautiful pop songs that sound “un-pop” and doubtlessly influential…like many of His songs….their songs even from the time of The Smiths
Fantastic reminds me of drinking in the cork and cheese with my mates as a teenager. Southend was the perfect place for this song..... it was shut totally on sundays in the late 80's, but then we only had 4 channels of tv back then too...sniff
im 38 mate and it makes me want to cry cos it reminds you of those sad college days when we were meant to be chasing f*nyn and not listening to this - still .. beautiful song though
Conveys the decline of some british sea side resorts from the main places to holiday to ghost towns full of crime and faded glory. The signs of happy times past are everywhere. John betjeman would have liked this
18jemini I do feel people that grew up over there (UK) have a bigger grasp of the political/social meanings of the song...of course we all connect to and love the lyrics and recording, those damned strings get me every time!
genius, genius, GENIUS. Morrissey bashers do so because Morrissey has and will always do what he wants. And he is so right about everything. Always loved this video.
This is probably one of the greatest songs of all time.
Not literally tho
I agree
Lo es, sin dudas.
Agree 1000 times
It wasnt by All Time, it was by Morrisey.
I never grow tired of this awesome song, never!
same here.
it's got everything..... Whats not to like?
Not today either.
What an era! I pity those who are unable to appreciate songs of this nature. How I miss the 80;s.
All the advertisements are for Morrissey's album, wherein every store is filled with Morrissey albums, and the customers all form queues to buy Morrissey albums. Never change, Morrissey
It's about the hypocrisy of commerce you muppet!
changed for his marketing
It's Moz's dime. His ball, his rules.
Doesn't change how good the song is though.
What? I didn’t notice 😂.
My all time favourite Morrissey song. It's so beautiful. 💓
Can you feel it? Morrissey talks to the soul!
Total. What is it with the parades on Sundays in the UK?
come along nuclear bomb.
I was 39 years old when this BEAUTIFUL song came out. I will ALWAYS love this song !!!
Wow you were 68 yrs old when you typed this. Truly Morrissey appeals to all types and times.

absolutamente
Even the video is strangely wistful and bittersweet. Full of both yearning and desperation.
+Jimmy Pop t.v. Wistful, that is great and hugely underused word
+Mark Johnson Insatiable....
Mark Johnson Yeah it`s perfect for this video and a lot of Morrissey material.

I understand this

Haven't heard this song in about...9 yrs....and it's like I'm hearing it for the 1st time. How AWESOME is that!!!! Good times!
I don't understand why I always cry while listening to this amazing song. It brings me incredible memories and I feel really happy and not sad. Thanks for this Marrissey!
I find it so beautiful and moving too.
The sama same happens to me.
Exactly
This has a beautiful late 80s vibe
probably one of my all-time favourite songs
Can't believe this, am I the only one listening to this great music every week? .. Sunday for sure, its all Sunday
This one is way before my time and I listen to it all the time! Morrissey is amazing
@@ggallin69 Although I lived through it but missed it as well. It was the best decade of all. Life was so much easier back then .……
must have been truly a great time to be alive from what it seems

My mom told me to play this at her funeral request granted.
Your mom sure has a good taste for music ^^
I'm sorry for your loss.
May the happy memories be with her.
I WILL DO THE SAME. ITS A LONELY

That bass guitar is awesome!!!! Morrisey is a genius!
Morrissey!, con 2 "S".
Reminds me of Peter Hooks baseline from New Order.

The genius you mean to praise is the brilliant musician who wrote and played that bassline, Stephen Street.

Masterpiece
Morrissey is the most beautiful man in the world with angelic voice ❤️❤️❤️
I can relate to this song so, so, so, so, so much.
The 80's were the best for real music, it had meaning, feeling and emotion, unlike todays music.
Today's music is just a product for money.. no art like u said :( and it's worsening because of the social media attention hungry artificial people generation
And the songs from before were products for the heart
This song sounds so happy and chill, yet the lyrics are sad. Interesting contrast.
Look for 80´s in the dictionary and you will find Morryssey pic and this song! AWESOME! This is how the 80´s souds!
why i love that much this song?
Visionary Morrissey... these days "everyday is like sunday"
This song reply makes me channel my inner 80s emo teen.
+J. C Emo meaning emotional, lord
+J. C And no it's not indie, it's alternative. Morrissey released this while signed to a record company.

Beautiful Song.
Something mythical about that whole Smiths/Morrissey thing. Timeless.
One of the best
I was 20 years old when this came out. I thought she was quite the stunner, plus a great song.
Fantastic reminds me of drinking in the cork and cheese with my mates as a teenager.
