I'm 43 and have been listening to Morrissey a lot for the last year. I never checked him out when I was younger - all my friends love him. What a talent. It's never too late to discover Morrissey.
I only discovered The Smiths & Morrissey within the last 14 months myself. I'm trying to figure out how I lived those 49 years before learning of Moz! All the good MTV did for this type of music in the 80s & I swear I remember nothing of The Smiths being played on there!
Saw him live today. His voice is the same. Sadly a guy jumped on stage to hug him and he ended the concert. 3 songs short, we all wished for this song. Bummer.
I knew your dad... Even though I didn't. I love that you are listening to your Dad's music. My dad left the world the week before Christmas and I am so glad that I can find him in music. Hugs.
I was born in '86. I'm starting to feel my age, a bad knee and aches when I get out of bed in the morning. In the mirror I look more like my dad than I look like me. My mum and dad seem so old. My life isn't turning out how I hoped it would but I'll appreciate everything I have while I have it.

Stephen and I used to walk the endless meadow landscape of Moss Side in Manchester during school summer holidays. He was forever singing and I remember him vowing to be bigger than Benny from Abba at one point, or was it Benny from Crossroads? anyway to have been so close to what became such a massive iconic figure is a privilege of my mental illness. Stephen used to say things that at the time seemed so random and out of place but as history has shown were actually quite amazingly insightful. A couple of examples of what mean: One day on the Moss Side meadow as we coupled endless daisies together to make a daisy chain (that still holds the Claremont Road daisy chain record 252 daisies or 621 inches) Stephen. or as he liked to be called then Stephen turned to me and said 'Mike Joyce is a money grabbing talentless drum stick holder isn't he?' I replied 'I don't know who is he?'. Stephen said weirdly 'someone I have yet to meet but trust me and what I say'. I said 'ok'. Later that day when we had been crowned Claremont Road Daisy Chain Champions 1976 (2nd year running) Stephen turned to me and said ' I will admit that leaving the band at the height of their success left me feeling vulnerable and I will fear for my future but who could have guessed that as solo Morrissey I will sell out stadiums all over the world, particularly in Mexico and be bigger than the Smiths ever were'. I said 'what?' and Stephen said ' oh, ignore me it's the Perrier gone straight to my head.' I asked 'who are the Smiths and are they causing you trouble?'. Stephen said ' Who are the Smiths..exactly and no they can't bother me'. it was all very cryptic back then looking and listening to a 17 year old Morrissey Daisy Chain Champ (twice over) but as I said with what history has taught us it's as if he knew his destiny.
+Ray Mercer Love it... The part with Mexico is slightly unnecessary - a bit over the top...But the rest has a uniquely eery atmosphere...Keep on writing! And I mean it!

Even almost 40 years later, lyrics and music defined as be the best ever made in this miserable world... THE SMITHS and MORRISSEY feels like it was ART of the highest level...
I'm 13, my dad brought me up with this sort of music - with the stone roses also, and I showed a couple of friends this genre/type of music and they all liked it; they said it's better than all the new songs, they have meaning and real talent behind them
qlock 18 don't worry about the cynicism shown by people like Blankface; people who Morrissey would have dismissive disdain for. You keep educating your teenage mates - plenty more bands out there cut from similar cloth; Inspiral Carpets, James, The Cure, The Jam, The Undertones and a wealth of talent from across the Pond; The Pixies, R.E.M. , 10,000 Maniacs.....(P.S. don't bother with the Grateful Dead - they were sh!t)
This is where James Dean grew up in a small town in Indiana. He was born on February 8th, 1931 (and died in 1955, the same year "Rebel Without a Cause" came out). I wouldn't be surprised if Morrissey filmed this video on his exact birthday since it's obviously winter in this clip. *Edit: LOL-- he actually wrote "Morrissey--Feb. 7th, 1988" on a wall. Man, I can't believe this song is that old. I thought it was from the '90s!

I have a wonderful memory of being a teen, the car loaded with my friends, and this song blaring at full volume. We were headed to a house party in Hollywood, not a care in the world or a dollar in our pockets. Everything was a big deal, yet nothing else mattered; just being together. We would kill or die for each other without question. Twenty years later, three of those friends are no longer with us and this song reminds me of them. RIP guys, you're loved and missed greatly; thank you for being a vital part of my life and I look forward to seeing you again in the next world.
E segue a vida! Morrissey eternamente.
Every time I hear this sound I remember the Sundays when my dog and I spent the whole afternoon playing and that sound played on the radio, I miss him a lot.
Thank you, Morrissey, for this stirring tribute to James Dean, who will always be one of the great Midwestern Icons and Midwestern Sons. He rose from the Indiana farm soil and left an indelible mark in his brief, fleeting time with us. And thank you for the tip of the hat to James Whitcomb Riley, a native Hoosier and The People's Poet.I can imagine a young Jim staring out at the midwestern horizon whilst reading his book of collected poems.
I am fourteen years old (about to turn fifteen in the next couple of weeks) and I’m proud to have discovered Morrissey at my age. There’s something about him that I resonate with and I’m humbled by his poetic ability. Despite allegations and the problematic news articles, I’ve a lot of respect for this man and his raw honesty. I aspire to age into a gentleman like him.
You shouldn’t wear the art you like as a kind of badge of honour. Morrissey is just a reactionary, quite a cognitively dissonant one at that. To his lyrics and musicianship, I say fair enough; but he seems quite a bitter, arrogant man these days, one who perhaps hasn’t been told to shut up enough by those around him.
This makes me so long for Indiana again. You can actually see a shot of my hometowns watertower in this video at 2:23. I was born in Gas City and miss those days some 40+ years ago.
So weird he popped up in Indiana and they made a video. How weird is that? Last I checked you had to have a reason to go to Indiana. I slept in the car in oct. 2019 in northern indiana after having bought a canoe in michigan. Cold as hell.

This kind of music simply age like wine, never gets obsolete or boring, always stay strong towards the modern music
One of the single best guitar intros to a song EVER. PERIOD. This song will never be outdated or over done. It is a true Brit masterpiece.
Yea, it sounds like Jonny Marr(of the Smiths) but it's not.
Dumb luck I guess but this was the morrissey song I heard, that was in '93 and I've listened to it non stop since

Morrissey has never looked better! I just love this song. It gets an A+.
❤Dulces recuerdos
Soda Stereo is endlessly gorgeous
Graças a Deus existe o álcool e esses sons. Beijos
Que o inferno aumente o fogo pra receber essas pessoas.

Here in Brazil listening to good music, my father introduced me to Morrissey, he was passionate about his music, his style and he passed this passion on to me. Since I was little he has been playing The Smiths and songs from his solo career for me to listen to, unfortunately he died in 2023 with cancer and now when I hear these songs it comes to mind, of good memories of being with him, thank you Morrissey for me remember good times, I love you morrissey

Gran artista.

Sabrá tu novia que escuchas morrisey?
+Ray Mercer Don't know if its true or not, but i'ts an awesome story nevertheless.

One of the greatest songs of all time, amazing.
I thought it was from the early 90s as well.
I can't believe I was 17 about to turn 18 when this video was made. I love the time stamp of Morrissey's graffiti on the school wall.

There’s something about him that I resonate with and I’m humbled by his poetic ability. Despite allegations and the problematic news articles, I’ve a lot of respect for this man and his raw honesty. I aspire to age into a gentleman like him.
His views are common. I'm fact I agree with them. Be more critical of this system. Second guess the narratives you're being feed.
