I'm proud to finally bring you all a Revamp of a fantastic title and soundtrack, welcome to The Guardian Legend! Coming from the legendary developers Compile, this is a superb game with an equally superb OST by Masanori Miyamoto and Takeshi Santo, and they nailed it with the tunes that accompany this game, while there are plenty of energetic tunes, they also do a great job just composing straight up bangers. All of the "Corridor" and "Area" themes providing something unique, with "Corridor 0" and "Area 0" definitely being the most well known amongst them all, along with cute/jaunty and heroic tunes spread in every few tracks. This is just a great soundtrack from top to bottom, and all under Takayuki Hirono's lovely Sound Driver. Guardian Legend is yet another game in these line of uploads that were underrated gems in the NES library, until people started to realize the brilliance of fun of such a title, and has gotten its praise and attention, yet somehow still feels it still deserves even more, with the top notch graphics, fun and diverse gameplay switching between shoot'em up Corridors and top-down perspective action adventure Areas, this is just an all around outstanding game, definitely give it a try if you haven't if you loved this soundtrack! Hope you all enjoy the Revamp on this amazing OST, as always, thanks to all supporters here on YT and big love to those giving support on my Patreon, thanks for all you do in keeping 8BS relevant! www.patreon.com/nikotengoku / ko-fi.com/nikotengoku
@@Sparkbomber Glad people still enjoy the old mix, but I really cannot listen to those anymore after these Revamps, I am just so much happier with these :)
It's definitely one of those that get stuck in your head, the Area themes certainly get earwormed cus of the wandering around so much on those sections of the game, and the Corridor themes jam as well!
So many games I've come to like certainly started with the OST, doing this series has made me enjoy many titles, and hope you get to playing this again and have a good time! :D
I literally listened to the older video just this morning wondering when this eould get an update, and boy was i surprised to see this in my feed today. Thank you Niko for providing these great soundtracks for us to listen to for all these years.
Very smart of the sound team not to overdo it in a shooter where a lot of the sound will be inevitably suppressed by constant sfx. The soundtrack is simple but good and fits well. Game is a lot of fun, both in normal and corridor-only mode. A must-have. Thanks!
Most certainly, its good when they keep the Noise channel simple since that's where the SFX's will usually go, that way the Squares and Triangle Wave can carry the tune, and the Compile sound team had it down on this title!
Lol always fun comparing female protagonists back then. Sad most are conveniently forgotten by goldfish, like SMS phantasy star (no idea why Alys had the same name in 4 when she was a different person lol). I also think of Leila in rolling thunder 2 who learned from being kidnapped and got herself a gun, and I learned she is a cheat code playable in the 3rd game too. Shame the genesis rolling thunder games, which have more guns than arcade, aren't available on modern consoles.
The very 1st level you do heading towards the planet I would replay over and over just because I absolutely loved the track for it. Also as many people have stated, this game is truly a hidden gem among hidden gems.
Meu jogo preferido do Nes, parabéns pelo trabalho. Pura nostalgia, lembro da minha infância, quando meu avô meu deu de presente meu primeiro videogame, Nes.
In our country it is better known as Chi Day story. 12:40 this music most fully reflects the state of loneliness of the character, who is the only intelligent creature on this entire alien planet. I was never able to pass it, I always reached the same place and did not understand how to open one of the last gates. The game had no English translation, it was almost impossible to even write down the password correctly in hieroglyphs
5:45 If someone is reading this... I must have failed. This star "NAJU" was our home, but we were invaded by evil life-forms. Everyone except me was killed. I am going to try to activate the self-destruct device. If I fail, I would like you to do this task so this cannot happen to any other race. The self-destruct mechanism is protected by a safety device which is located in the underground corridors. Remove each seal and go deep inside NAJU. If you destroy all 10 safety devices, the self-destruct sequence will be activated. I don't have much time. I hope this message will not be read by anyone... it will mean that I have failed.
Thanks for another excellent upload, Niko. Here's a question though: Was this OST done by the same team that did Fire ;'n Ice? The instruments and composition some similar.
You're welcome! And nope, that would be Ryuichi Nitta of Tecmo, this would be the first I've seen of Compile music being compared similar to Tecmo, but I do get it for some of the tracks on "Fire 'n Ice", they hit that some registry on the Squares like this OST did, I like your observation! :)

Definitely does sound phenomenal, even if your original version was good too.

@@Nikos8BitStereo valid, the new ones show how you've grown. But eh, do be wary you don't go Franquin and actively hate on your older works. ^^;;
Can you please add Smash TV
Music for this game will live in my head rent free my entire life.

One of the greatest NES OSTs of all time, and I'll die on that chiptune hill!

Happy to still be doing this, but its still just the beginning as I have so many amazing soundtracks to get through! :D
@@Nikos8BitStereo looking forward to it all!

sweet cover design!
It's a ripoff of the poster for 1985's Creature and has nothing to do with the game.

Awesome! I must have listened to your other upload of this OST like a thousand times. Looks like I gotta do the same with this one now. ✌️
Nice on! And well certainly give this one the more deserved listens, so much more proud of these! :D
Never could beat the game, but I did often use the controller code to open the music menu. Still one of my favorite 8-bit soundtracks.
Underrated and underrepresented game. Killer soundtrack
My life is complete 🥹🫡🇺🇸

I wish they would make an updated version of this game.
Is it possible to make a new mix for Final Fantasy 1 next?
It's in the pipeline, it will be on its way soon!
