    This guy qualified for the European Open (ATP *250) last week and played a close couple of sets with the world no.56. Impressive stuff.

    Very mature young dude. If you didn't mention he was a junior champ I would have thought he's much older. More like a top 500 ATP. Fascinating.
    Well done Simon. Your dedication and perseverance is second to none. Keep it up and thanks for the upload. Super fun.

      Last week, he beat Medjedovic, who's #102 in the world. His last name also sounds like some kind of tech start-up, which is cool.

      If he's the top junior, he is most certainly a top 500 player.

    Thanks for posting this, Simon. You've pointed out in other videos (e.g., practice with Sinner) that you don't always extend through your forehands. Alex consistently blasted his forehands out to his targets. It can tough to find the right balance of finesse and power that's more your game. It's really fun watching you progress.

    The power level difference between s.o. who is ranked 1000+ and needs to play qualies at ITF's being already in his mid-20ties and a recent Junior GS winner who will be a Top-50 player in one, two years is obvious.

    • @ST-ek6lf
      @ST-ek6lf Рік тому +4

      Former junior grand slam champions don’t necessarily become an ATP player. They sometimes fadeaway with injury and other problems . Future is not set for anyone especially when they are young

    • @acw1956
      @acw1956 Рік тому +4

      @@ST-ek6lf That’s right, but not in this case. Alexander Blockx will definitely make it, no doubt about that.

      Lmao junior GS does not guarantee one or two years to enter top50 even in the wta in fact most of the junior GS winners still play itf/challengers at that point

    from what ive seen the big difference was on the serve and the short rallies, the guy has somehow more power and hitting the serve and serve + 1 more aggresive than you, however great effort and well played in that 2nd set!!

    I saw this kid play in Antwerp, he's an absolute beast. Obviously you were going to go out as an underdog. I don't think it's such a lopsided result given what he's playing. Keep pushing yourself Simon.
