as much as we all say "Kelly you have nothing to prove, you are the GREATEST ever!" I think it's his constant doubt, hunger, and fire that gives us exactly what Kelly is. In that regard, keep thinking you have something to prove Kelly because we all get treated to watching it. I hope you compete until you're 60!

Kelly DID "sell everything" and just surf, way back in 1999!!!! But we didn't have the same youtube window into his every thought back then. We didn't have any real time video from that period at all. Kelly just dropped off the map for a couple years...
The fist glimpse I remember getting into his psyche after his return was the amazing film "letting go" (which is STILL worth a watch if you haven't seen it yet). But now we get so much content, and its great.
That last part when Kelly says he’ll sell everything and buy a boat says a lot ☹️. We love you Kelly, keep up 🤙

The jeans comercial filming was super cool. A surfer in jeans, was allmost like watching a marvell character being filmed for a movie. But this was real ha ha, epic!

It looks like Remana's "help" in the heat was actually bad for Kelly. Not that Remana was giving bad advice, but Kelly is already world class on that wave, and had he just surfed it without any outside pressure, he might have done better.
Unrelated: The jeans shot in the tube is really cool. Imagine how much a clouting line would pay to get (1) Kelly Slater to model, and (2) To wear the freaking jeans while tube riding the most massive barrel in the world. Realy cool that in the modern era people can own the company and not just advertise them for hire. Of course Kelly is not just a regular shmoo, but the options to own your business are greater today than ever before.

Definitely not “any age” but for 47, theoretically yes. But for the average person probably not, unless you’ve been training everyday since you were 13 yrs old like Kelly and even at that you have to be talented too.

To my knowledge after the locals, Kelly, Tom Carroll, some others and Mike Stewart, were the first pro surfers to ride Teahupoo. But even them thought it was unridable when it starts to have a consequent size.
The first time the potential of the wave was revealed to the public was for the Gotcha Tahiti Pro (1998 or 1999 I can't remember).
Before that, only some local heroes were riding decent sizes waves there that world champs thought unridable. Mike Stewart even saw the potential of the wave and stated that it was too gnarly and too close to the reef to be ridable. Only few people dared to test it and knew it was makeable.

At the start, when Kelly said he started coming to Tahiti in '93 and not many people were surfing Teahupoo.back then... Fun fact, I was in Tahiti in 1990 and my Aussie mate was a pro water skier. We hooked up with some local Tahitians who were into skiing and they took us to the inside lagoon at Teahupoo in their ski boat on a glassy, no wind day. I had my surfboard with me and asked the locals (who weren't surfers) if there was anywhere I could surf while they skied. They said they would drop me at a spot where a few locals surfed occasionally..... you guessed it, it was Teahupoo! They dropped me in the channel and I paddled into the line-up. The sets were maybe 5 to 6 feet.... immediately it was obvious to me how heavy the place was, as every wave I paddled for just dredged hollow on the reef. I got a few good ones but one time I got caught inside, and as I paddled back out I duck dived a wave but it drew so much water off the reef that the surface became concave and the nose of my board hit the reef! I got through that set and back out the back but decided to call it a day...... as Kelly said, most injuries happen on smaller days..... It wasn't until years later that I realised I'd surfed the infamous Teahupoo......

Kelly, focus is divine. Distraction is the devil. Being spread thin, and having your focused sucked in multiple directions is the devil that consumes your inner connected divine. You’re lucky that your divided focus was yet rewarded with a perfect day that begot the iconic jeans shot. You just couldn’t have a WSL win and OK win at the same time, just like your RD overlapping with contests isn’t a winner.

it's a fair point. But still better to do something rather than nothing. Of course people should want things that are made in the best conditions possible, but buying products that try to make a difference while still being flawed is better than buying products that don't do anything at all.
I went surfing in my S.E.A. jeans and now I have a Surf Effected Abrasion on my pecker.

It’s kind of sad to see year after year since stepping on a firewire surfboard. Kelly thinks he’s to “heady” he’s to this he’s to that. Maybe it’s this maybe it’s that. How could you not make the connection that the boards your riding are trash? If firewire was as good as the claim is why don’t other pros ride them? Why since leaving Merrick has Kelly not been in the hunt for a title let alone consistent wins? He thinks it’s everything but the surfboards he’s on. Let go the obsession with firewire- use them for your wave pool if you want. Get on a Merrick, Lost, JS basically any high performance board company and watch the wins pile up like they use to. It’s the freaking boards your on Kelly it’s not you

I love Kelly but him preaching outerknown as clean/proenvironment and then towing into an 8ft wave on jetski(pollution gasoline etc multiplied by everyone else towing in is pollution/ boat pollution common in surfing)Okay surfing is great but there plenty of pollution that needs to be addressed. Please tell me im wrong because you are such a fan or entitled surfer.
Sorry 🐐😁but $150 for you to Apex boardies ???. Any chance your sales team could answer this one as to why they are this price. Everything else in ur clothing line makes sense. But most European surfers are not going to be able to afford them as eco friendly as they are ☺️. Just to put it into perspective it is around £150 for a 3:2 wetsuit here in England. They are made with recycled materials. They cost so much because it is a recent and difficult process to make. In Italy we have shops that produce fabrics of this kind and even here, under 100 dollars you can find nothing.
In today's episode of the very tough life of Kelly Slater. Kelly has to make the tough decision of whether to book the 5k a night Teahupoo Air BNB or the 4k. Unfortunately, the island doesn't have a 5 star acupuncturist on the island so Kelly will have to settle with a newly hired trainee from the local 3 star hotel. Relationship complications surmount as Kelly's 5 girlfriends around the world all vie for his next travel stop to be with them. What surf event will he enroll in next in order to meet these rigorous demands? And lastly, will Kelly be forced to sign 15 hats after his next heat or God forbid will a bratty 10 yr old local suffering from malaria ask him for his surfboard? What will Kelly do? This time on Lost Tapes...
