Bought a pair a year ago to DJ small to medium parties. They sound great until you have to raise the volume when the dance floor gets full. Mine aren’t red lining, just sporadically then shutting off. You are right , maybe for a house party or garage band. Not for professional DJ usage.

I think people need to realize, the JBL IRX series of speakers are not a replacement for your JBL EON series of speakers. Peak watts means very little to me. RMS watts is very relevant when we talk about these kinds of speakers. When you start pushing the IRX 112 to certain level, it's not going to sound as good as a EON 612 that's being pushed to give you the same SPL's. The JBL IRX series have their place in the market and what they offer for the price and features are very impressive. At the end you can't expect a 300 watt rms active speaker (JBL IRX 112) to perform like a 500 watt rms speaker (JBL EON 612).

Wow finally a deep review of the IRX
I found the EON612 to be far superior to the IRX112bt. The irx just sounds bad at higher volumes. Not nearly as articulate at full band volume. Dont let the bluetooth streaming tempt you. It works well but is also fiddly. I returned a pair of IRX 12s and went back to the EONs.

Just bought a pair, connecting them both to bluetooth is a bit of a process since it doesn't remember the connection for both once you turn them off.
I liked the review but that mic was way too close for a sound test. A bit further next time please.

::Update just had these side by side the EV was much better more musical more clear highs and rich lows, The JBL was more midrange, the EQ settings on the back hardly do anything except for the vocal setting which wasn't so great. but, they are more portable lighter and easier to move , the EV is lopsided when you pick it up from the top handle and walk with it and take up more space, but EV does sound better. and of course the on off button on the JBL ??? what where they thinking??

Which would be advisable in your opinion (the two best) for sound quality, clarity, bass and reliability among various "cheap" speakers with bluetooth, for a group of two or three with vocals, acoustic guitar, percussion (jambe or dolak) and also to stream music at small parties: JBL IRX112 BT, DB Technologies SYA KL 12, EV ZLX 12 BT, LD Systems ICOA 12 A BT, ANT MBS 12, ALTO TS 212 Wireless, Mackie Thump 12 BST, Turbosound IP300 or IX 12 etc. or LD System Mix 10 A G3 which already has built-in mixer. Awesome video as always. Ready to buy after watching. Comparing to the Alto 312 and 315. I will be using as a DJ speaker with a pretty powerful 15 sub from Alto called the Black Series. Only one sub though. Goal is to sort create a second compact system for a little more throw and bass. Up to maybe 300 folks. I have an EV Evolve 50 which I use most of the time. Feel like the EV is perfect for me since most of my gigs are well under 200 but these and my sub would hopefully cover just a little bigger size. Saw your Alto video as well so would appreciate your thoughts

Bought a pair of these from a customer return. Like New and an incredible deal ! Blue Tooth pairs two speakers together. Im hoping they are looking to add a sub to this BT combo. I compare these to eon 615 s I have. These have absolutely thrilled me!

You can add JBL PRX 815LFW sub. Not cheap though. Buy a pole. Attach the pole on top of the sub, then, attach this IRX 113BT on to the pole.

I'm confused you said to connect the thru to a subwoofer? Wouldn't you connect the mixer to the subwoofer first and then from the thru on the subwoofer to the in on the speaker?

in my 70s and have EON 15 G2 for our band of 7 people and I can no longer carry the weight. Must Get some thing lighter in weight. Ive seen all your videos and am thinking of the JBL IRX-BT 12 need advise or the new EON Series. Again the weight and handling is my biggest problem

I purchased this speaker after your review and I’m actually not impressed with the piece, when you raise the volume up to get some true volume the limit light blinks or it’s bold.

Hi , thanks for the review i was waiting for, i have just 1 question. You said that a reset for the afs is necessary for different places and that i understand, i saw you doing that and its jump to speech mode , does the afs dont work on the line mode? Greetings
it was in speech mode and went back to speech mode, it can be in any mode for AFS to work.

No because it has to set the delay for the Bluetooth on the 2nd speaker.

You could just use the Hi-Pass in the subwoofer. I will be make an add on video talking about Subwoofer options for this speaker and how to connect.
the manual says that the speech mode apply a cut at 100hz, recommended when used with a sub..

Javier!!! No!! Vocal is not applying 100Hz HPF filter to the speaker output. I Just bought it and its not applying. Im so sad about that. Because I thought that would work and having to use my subwoofer LPF I will lose Bluetooth functionality fr irx. I needed to play from IRX to sub not reverse
Would you take a JBL eon615 over an Alto TS315?
Obviously there’s a big difference in Proclaimed Db however having the 315 my self I know they sound diabolical when played loud. So realistically while they have the potential to Go loud, in reality you can’t play them loud as they can go with out sounding 💩
I have 2 jbl eon612 that sound incredible. Extremely loud a Crystal clear even at extremely high volume. They have not bad bass out of the box but I did go out and buy 2 subs and now they sound absolutely fantastic. Great bang for your buck

IRX is a great speaker but you will need to buy the wireless mic a mixer if you want some FX. and no battery for the back yard.

from when I reviewed it and had it in the showroom you always had to press the power button on the back if the power was cut from the speaker. no auto on option.

These are 2db louder than the eon615, as per sweetwater.
Don't go off peak ratings. Most specs are very very misleading
Buddies, the best WAY to get good sound is IRX108bt with a big subwoofer. 12 and 15 woofers are not going to produce good mids! 12, 15 and 18 are subwoofers size. Get IRX108bt with with a good subwoofer. The 12 Inch Speaker needs more tweeters than only one 1 inch tweeter to sound Great in mids. Dont forget to put the speaker High and buy a tiltdown tripod adaptor for inclination speaker 7degree to 15 degree for voice intelligible and boost clarity. If the area is big, buy more speakers. Thats it.

If I was performing OUTDOORS, would the FLAT setting probably be the best one?
Always set up on music. Flat is for monitor standing on ground position for musicians use to hear feedback of the instrument

Side by side, they add. On top of each other you should get vertical audio coverage only. The best way of sounding great is put the speaker on tripod or wall with Tiltdown adaptor (for inclination 7 up to 15 degree) it adds voice intelligible and clarity. Get 8 inch IRX108bt for mid clarity and subwoofer. The more speakers, more are you cover. If you have big show like rock in rio, try Line arrays VRX. If just a party IRX100 series are the way to go. Auditorium maybe PRX or SRX on the top with tiltdown holded by m10 pins

AFS is better then No AFS after a Mixer. But to could look a buying a Dbx AFS to connect directly to your mix it would be better.

@@vicevrsa386 For mixing music get some studio monitors. The HS series from Yamaha is good, as well as basic pioneer ones. PA speakers are for sets, not mixing or practicing.
