It’s so important to appreciate that this new homestead won’t just be good for you, but you’re also doing the important work of repairing this land! Good instincts K!
19:30 Literally made me cry. A pond with green grass and a little house, with a beautiful view to boot. I have no doubt you will make it you own slice of heaven. Congrats!
I believe that quote actually originated in a translation of Voltaire. But, it is a Life Lesson type of quote. (Unless you are constructing a bridge or performing brain surgery. 🤪). I am so enjoying your channel!!!!
You guys are great storytellers, that unfolded beautifully in this episode. But Aust, just make sure you don’t miss some of the moments yourself while you’re busy sharing them with us! That look K gave you when you made the decision, wow, and you nearly missed it! By the way, I bet your dad’s happy now, he looked so despondent in the last episode! Good luck, I can’t wait to see how this evolves!
I was one of the many who chose Crawdad Creek, but I understand why it wasn’t a viable choice due to the infrastructure cost. With that said, I’m not going anywhere. I’m actually even more excited to see what you and your families can do. Anyone can make things happen when they have an unlimited budget. The real excitement is when you are able to overcome those budgetary constraints through the properly application of years of accrued experience..and you folks seem quite capable.
I'm glad you're glad, with the final decision. I was always going to be satisfied with your choice. Because I'm not watching for the property you're on. I'm watching for what you DO, on the property you're on.
I’m really happy you guys picked this location, it’s going to be a great learning experience for me. Most people don’t have $600,000 to purchase something perfect. I’m excited to see the creation of it. ☺️
so happy that you chose Sunny Mountain. It was my choice all along. I KNOW you will make it fabulous. I am really looking forward to seeing the transformation.
First it doesn't really matter what we think 🤣 it's your back sweat tears and money that is gonna go into this and you know more about what your doing than the majority of us 🤣🤣 I'm excited to watch y'all turn another property into a home! I first watched y'all in squash hallow then when you moved to Kay's parents and you lived in the apt. And then when you moved into the house! And I will be watching when y'all build this one to!! Thanks so much for the content y'all put out and I can't wait for more cow videos!!!!
I'm so glad that you choose the property you have peace about! I was one who voted for the creek because of the water. But it seems like that problem has been solved! I'm excited to see what's in store for the future!
ONWARD AND UPWARD!! Two people working hard together to achieve a goal are UNSTOPPABLE and anything is possible for those willing to make the sacrifice to get it done. The mountain is BEAUTIFUL!! I suggest you look into the possibility of scouring the property for a natural spring. With the areas holding water like that, its likely you have one or more there. Get yourself someone local, familiar with the territory who has the skill to search it out, to come scout your property for a spring. That would be a fantastic find to spur the building of your future homestead. Worth a look for sure. Blessings and can't wait to see what you folks create there!!
This is so awesome! I think you guys made the right choice. When you guys initially asked which property we thought would be best I’d initially thought crawdad creek, was typing up my response and everything and just… stopped, because I had this funny feeling that my initial response wasn’t really right. With all the facts on the table and what everything would cost, this choice makes a lot of sense and the view. Is. Stunning.
YES!!!! Doing a dance and singing right now."WHERE GOIN TO SUNNY MOUNTAIN WHERE GOIN TO SUNNY MOUNTAIN!!!" I was one of the few on the SUNNY mountain team. There is so much done already there.. I am fully confident in the knowledge you have gained in the last 10 yrs. YOU GOT THIS!!
When you two are old, sitting on the porch together with grand babies running around... that view of that mountain is priceless, but that mountain will keep you focused on your dream
So happy for you! We moved to our homestead property several years ago (Missouri). No it was not our dream property but, like you, we saw the potential for what we wanted to do. Every year we look back and see how much closer it is getting to our dream property. Prayers for you and your family and this beautiful new homestead.
I'm watching now, in the past. And knew, in my heart, sunny mountain was the way to go. It's a restoration project. You will be building your home, and your family, on this piece of land. You will breathe life back into this piece of land. And my God, what a beautiful blessing. To your family and the Earth. :)
I love your analogy with not waiting for perfect. The best part is growing it into perfection yourself and how much more worth it will it be. Happy for you guys.
I'm so happy for you for picking beautiful sunny mountain. It will be quicker than five years if you can afford an excavator....dig the swales, catchment ponds, form terraces really quickly. Bring in fodder, water, shelter, electric moveable fencing and put your cows to work gleeing the ponds, breaking up the compacted dirt with their hooves. Put up some shelters with rain water harvesting tanks. Make some Johnson Su bioreactor compost (use weeds if that's all you have), some other biofertilisers. Seed some multi species pasture crops when it rains and pre coat the seeds with biofertilisers. When you have cows, you can turn around really degraded sites in one year if you get rain.
I'll keep watching. Looking forward to seeing your dreams come true. You might want to look into putting in some water storage tanks along with the pond, should you have a long hot dry spell. Following your heart is never a mistake, what's wrong for someone else, could be just perfect for you and that's the only way to know that.
We did the same: bought up in the sun. What a difference in the winter! What a difference the sun makes for the garden in the summer! We had to put in a well but it was so worth it. So worth it. Go for it guys!!!!
Y'all are gonna be so happy you chose this one. Still a ton of work but you have a cleared spot to start on! Huge benefit! Tons of sun if you go solar to! Yay, I'm so excited for Y'all!
Patience is the opposite of procrastination. Good choice. The amount of solar energy that can be harvest there will build lushes green grass and provide enough energy to be grid free.
oh God! 6 kids its amazing in 2022 when there so many child free mentality out here... Bless your family! It is actually good time to start building as costs for construction materials are going down.
Y’all chose well. It’s a combo of being great for your homestead and also great for possible resale in the future. I think it’s a perfect property. Y’all will Grow more grass and the sunlight will be much appreciated!
I don't think you're being foolishly impatient. I think your intuition is telling you so clearly that NOW is the time to do this. I'm so glad you're not ignoring it. Go for it. This is perfect, all things considered. I bet you'll look back in two years, five years, ten years, etc and be so glad you made this move exactly when you did.
I think I’d follow your parents for their knowledge as well as seeing the kids play and their happiness. Mom needs sunshine and that’s something you can try to capture at the new home in the way of a sun room or something but the kids playing in the little creek will give her some peace and happiness too.
As per your comments at the end, why wouldn't I stay and watch? I love seeing creativity flourish. To be able to take something from a blank canvas and create your dreams out of it ... I ask you again, why wouldn't I stay and watch the magic?
I'm so glad you all picked Sunny Mountain!! I haven't been watching you long, but when you were comparing the 2 properties and the first thing you did at Crawdad Creek was to fix your socks to protect from ticks... that seemed like a bad sign.
Congratulations on picking Sunny Mountain. It's going to be a Beautiful Homestead. I can see your vision. Can't wait to follow your journey. Peace from WV
Seeing you spread your wings and start on a new homestead make me happy. I wish you joy and happiness on your new homestead and many, many years of learning and growing. God bless you'll and keep growing!!!
Sorry crawdad creek didn't work out....hopefully your water and soil issues at sunny mountain will be fixed soon so you can get started on your new homestead. Best of luck!
No, look- I wish I had that beautiful property right *now*, not just in five years! I love a beautiful hill, and I love how it's not impossibly steep, it's just so gorgeous all around. And what a nice little creek down by the road! It ain't my business really, nobody else's either, but I would 100% have gone with the mountain myself. I just can't get over the combination of nice, clear woods, and pasture-to-be!
CONGRATULATIONS 👏 I'm very happy for you. My wife and I are looking for a new homestead also. Looking forward to watching you progression of the new homestead. Have a good day. 👍
Oh I'm so excited! I think you made a great choice. It is so hard to find property that has had so much done already. Clearing land is a total pain (we're in the middle of it). I cannot wait to watch this!
I used to tell Jim (my late Husband) . Patients is a vertue you don't have LoL. That's great News and you found Water 🐦. Happy Homesteady 🙌. JO JO IN VT 😆💕🍁💨
Isn’t bringing animals to heal less than perfect land the point so many are talking about? You will plant seeds which will keep soil from eroding away. You are a gift to this land.
If we get the “perfect” word out of our life , life will be imperfectly perfect without the anxiety that causes trying to get everything “perfect” 🫶🏼 That property though, the view , the potential for water catching
Over the years, you've overcome a lot and have always figured it out. I'm positive you'll overcome anything ahead of you! Can't wait to watch the start. :)
I don't mean to say I told you so, but...! Back in your first video showing the two properties I said Sunny Mountain. There is a lot of work to do and to give back to Gaia, but the property had so much potential. Can't wait to see what you do with it.
"Perfection is the never ending chase to satisfaction that one will never be able to say, "good enough," to. Good enough, though, IS that satisfaction that speaks to your heart's desire." Yeah, I just made that quote up LOL. I'm enjoying watching you guys chasing your dreams and having them to become reality. Keep on keepin' on! ❤
I love this land, I am very excited to see how it transforms for you. This was always my favourite as it's bright it's up high it's sunny (the creek was beautiful but made.me feel cold and damp, and summers with lots of mosquitoes) this property is bare bones but has a lot to offer. I wish you the very best of luck and prosperity and this home with offer you everything and more than you could want or desire.
YAY!!! GOOD CHOICE! Plant some pine trees to grow up around the house! Check out our log cabin home my husband built from a kit pretty much by himself and we moved in 6 months later!
Happy wife, happy life! 🤣🤣🤣 I don't want to say the mom is always right, but .....the mom is always right! 😁 I'm super excited to watch the next few years!
A Very Nice piece of Property !! Sometimes we dont know what we got. How Excellent for your Family to learn on the side of a hill with a creek to boot maybe to. Down hill water provides much. The Old Oak Keep build a Nice Kitchen Table or what you like. I'm both Excited and Happy. For You Yes !! But also for the Hope you have Renewed In Me. Your Family and The Lord Have Renewed Me. We will find The not so Perfect Land. The Lord and our Hard work will Bless. Be Thankful !! Be Blessed !!!
I said keep looking from the onset of the first time you showed us the first 2 properties. It took me 5 years to pick out wall paper boarder for my dining room in our first house! Honestly perfection is in the eye of the beholder ❤ Things that are imperfect have their own perfections .. You can ask us viewer’s but we aren’t the 1 living there or putting money and work into it so you have to do what is best for your situation!! Good luck with Sunny mountain 😉

I think I heard, “done is better than perfect” on the Holler Homestead. As a perfectionist, I struggle with this, but I am getting better at it!

So glad you will have a lovely vista. We enjoy lovely views from our sunny little 10 acre farm. Lifts up our spirits.
I am looking forward to watching your homestead develop! Exciting!
I knew it!! When you were at the creek, I remembered you said the water was pretty far down the hill. So so beautiful!! May Yah bless this endeavor!!

I'm excited for you. Hope someday we can afford our own homestead journey.
I hope you can too!
So happy for you guys. You got this! I'm glad you listened to me 😁. God bless you all.
Great decision! That's the one I loved. How exciting for you to building a homestead from scratch. We'll be watching!
How fortunate you are to get the benefits of your parents' knowledge!
oh God! 6 kids its amazing in 2022 when there so many child free mentality out here... Bless your family!

I just started following y'all, and as someone who just left the ocean for the mountains, I'm SOOO THRILLED ABOUT THIS YALL.
I’m so happy that y’all decided on Sunny Mountain.
I’m excited for you and can’t wait to see how you transform it into your homestead.
Excited to see the pasture creation. It is going to look soooo much better with grass! Plus that view is amazing
A good one…Comparison is the thief of Joy!!! Glad you picked one and can’t wait to see it turn into something amazing
Hallelujah! Let the adventures begin!!!!

We’re dealing with driveway issues. It’s not cheap!
CONGRATULATIONS 👏 I'm very happy for you. My wife and I are looking for a new homestead also. Looking forward to watching you progression of the new homestead. Have a good day. 👍
Beautiful homestead site! You know, you can set up a passive water piping system, if you have running water. That would be great for livestock water.
Oh I'm so excited! I think you made a great choice. It is so hard to find property that has had so much done already. Clearing land is a total pain (we're in the middle of it). I cannot wait to watch this!
Congratulations... you'll never be flooded out up on the hill.
I used to tell Jim (my late Husband) .
Patients is a vertue you don't have LoL.
That's great News and you found Water 🐦.
Happy Homesteady 🙌.
JO JO IN VT 😆💕🍁💨
Good choice. The energy of sunny mountain and the views are going to be great to wake up to every day
I like how the beginning of the video looks like you're at crawdad creek, and then you start climbing the mountain... Congrats!
We love plot twists 😁
Isn’t bringing animals to heal less than perfect land the point so many are talking about? You will plant seeds which will keep soil from eroding away. You are a gift to this land.

Ok I was all for crawdad but now that I've seen more of this one. I like sunny mountain! 😍 Congratulations!
Good enough, though, IS that satisfaction that speaks to your heart's desire."
Yeah, I just made that quote up LOL.
I'm enjoying watching you guys chasing your dreams and having them to become reality. Keep on keepin' on! ❤
Happy you've made your choice. Water was my concern great you are putting in a pond.
You are inspiring. Thank you for sharing all of your homestead experiences.
Congratulations and I can't wait to learn what you learn! Thanks for taking us along.
What a lovely place. I feel your excitement and hope for the what the future brings.
I love this land, I am very excited to see how it transforms for you. Happy wife, happy life! 🤣🤣🤣 I don't want to say the mom is always right, but .....the mom is always right! 😁
I'm super excited to watch the next few years!

It was worth the wait! It was beautiful!
And worth the wait! If someone says hurry or it'll be gone. Let it go! If your unsure! It wasn't supposed to be yours!
It’ll be fine! And it’ll be beautiful. I love watching you dream. And you have those wonderful parents!
So excited for y'all. Loved Sunny Mountain from the start. Can't wait to see how you make it your home.🍂🍃🍁
We just bought our mini farm and have been learning as we go. You guys have the spirit and drive so I can tell you’ll have a running working farm in no time!
I'm so happy for you all! Congratulations. Can't wait to see what you all come up with for you. 💓
Yay! I'm excited for you all! I voted for crawdad creek but after the last video explaining the cost of the drive way it definitely wasn't the right choice for your goals. For the cost of getting the driveway in you can have a few wells drilled. We priced one out in CO and it would have started at $12k, but I know things are cheaper out east. It definitely wouldn't hurt to price it out. You can see if you can find information about wells in your area to see the average depth. It's easy to look up in CO as they are permitted through the waterboard of the state so you can see the depth and general locations of all the wells.
Congratulations! I'm Soo happy for ya'll. God bless your new endeavors.
CONGRATS ! Its exciting. Glad you thought it out. Blessings !!!
Congratulations on finding your new homestead! Looking forward to seeing the transformation.
I said Sunny mountain a good example like the house on the hill congratulations 🎉🎉🎉
I'm happy for you guys. How awesome to get a blank slat. You can make it your own without other people's visions there before you.
I’m so happy for you guys!! Sunny Mountain was my choice property! I think it will bring your family a lifetime of happiness and abundance.
I can’t wait to see the process of transforming this property!! What a great learning experience for all of us
I’m so happy for your new beginning, can’t wait to see it grow!❤️
I hope the pond stays drinkable for your animals.
Yay!!! Sunny Mountain!!! 🎉 I can already see how beautiful it will be!!
Congratulations on your new home steady
"Sunrise, sunset. Sunrise , sunset. Swiftly flow the years. One Season following another, laden with happiness and tears." Well, I hope there will not be too many tears, but like you said, in five years... .. and time flies so fast.
It's gorgeous now, so I am excited to see what it looks like in the future!
Honestly perfection is in the eye of the beholder ❤ Things that are imperfect have their own perfections .. You can ask us viewer’s but we aren’t the 1 living there or putting money and work into it so you have to do what is best for your situation!! Good luck with Sunny mountain 😉
Happy for you guys! I think sunny mountain will be great!
Wow looking forward to seeing the new adventures.
I'm envious in the best way. I don't have the finances for property in the states I would like to live in (or my current one), my family doesn't have any background that could lend expertise to building structures, choosing land, or farming, and even if I get land, my husband has zero interest in construction or homesteading. I'm a decent self-taught carpenter but the task ahead of me is nothing short of overwhelming and lonely.
The future is looking bright!
