I am not an engineer, but without the house bracket, that one bolt closest to the house you use to tilt, is keeping the tower vertical. That's an enormous amount of stress on just one bolt. You need the house bracket at the peak of your roof!

One thing I'd do before putting the tower sections together is to spray the ends with Krown rustproofing lubricant. Then I'd use stainless steel bolts and washers putting the sections together. Any other steel bolts I'd spray them with the Krown rustproofing lubricant, It only needs it once a year. I would suggest you get some brackets to bracket the tower to the house at the roof peak just to make it more sturdy.

Robert, thanks for the tips, yeah i was thinking about bracketing it to the house because it gets windy and blows the antenna around and messes up my channels.

There is an antenna company in Southgate Michigan that manufacturers a free standing tilt antenna assembly. You first cement the tilt base, then build the tower and connect three bolts to the tilt base.
In the future, if you need additional antenna repair, just remove two bolts from the tilt base and walk down the tower to ground level.

Thanks Kevin. I'm happy you didn't cut out the irritating parts of the job. I'm getting older and just got rid of DickTv, so I'm going to put up a tower. I'm out in the boonies, in a hole, and I need a TALL tower. You helped me realize I can set it up, with my wife's help, and save money and get some extra TV. A lot less expensive to do it by yourself, but exhausting, agreed? Good job!

I got tired of paying $85.00 a month for direct tv 3 years ago too and went to a antenna. I got the HDTV Digital Antenna -Amplified HD Outdoor TV Antenna 150 Miles Range Motorized 360 Degree Rotation, Wireless Remote Control, UHF VHF 1080P 4K one and put it in my house because it's plastic. Stuck it on a small pole in the corner and was amazed at how many channels I could get. 63 channels in all. I've now changed my set up and put the tv antenna in my attic it dropped my channel pick up to 20 but that's ok. I bought a Samsung smart tv and found on there though the tv I'm able to get the 20 free air antenna channels plus 200 free channels on Samsung tv plus. Any one can get these channels for free...need a Samsung smart tv and the internet is all. I keep the air antenna channels to have access to local weather and news. Love your antenna Kevin. Love your whole new house too. Your doing a great job.

The fabrication of the base plate was well done. The use of dry concrete, the lack of an above grade concrete form, and the lack of reinforcing steel, does not meet accepted standards for a 20' self supporting tower. Water will pool in the area of the base plate and promote electrolysis. The rods driven into the soil are of no structural value. Rebar spaced off the soil in all directions should have been used. Dry application concrete will not meet the 2500 psi minimum for a self supporting tower.

@@Robinson-Homestead Hi Kevin. I too build tower base plates from remnant steel and can appreciate your rotational plate that looks like a 25g Rohn part. Adding the wallbracket will greatly relieve any stress on the anchor bolts. I recently rebuilt a large (800#) tower that rusted through at the top of the concrete base do to moisture collecting and the lack of grounding. Directing water away from the base plate is advised. I divert unwanted towers from the crushers and renovate for local ham club members. I am working on an installation of a tower that appears to be identical to yours. Do you know who the manufacturer was? In this case we will build concretebase on top of a large slab and brace with a wall bracket. The wall brace at 17' will secure the 30' overall height. Should have someone on the roof there to help pull the tower up and homd it steady while ground guy lines tree of them should be attached to the tower checking for level horizontal and vertical level, and a bracket can be attached close to the peak of the tower itself in order to hold it in place adjusting the leveling process with the level, then putting in your concrete base with the sakret bags of cement. Once fully cured and the tower is perfectly level, dig on the outside base and Mix up even more sakret after you put 2 by 4's around the base and pour your sakret in and tral it all in allowing a further amount of time to set, forming yet a stronger, more secure base for your tv tower.
