Long, fast descents over smooth roads pampered by CalTrans, with wide turns, little traffic, and the wind is the only sound. My favorite descent. And the climb is not so bad. No crazy gradients, just heat in the summer and, yes, a very long climb.
33 is a hidden gem. Quite the scenery and very little traffic. Middle of nowhere type vibes. Great vid as always! Another one for the trainer playlist.
Thanks guys, really enjoyed watching this. I was there (from the UK) a few years ago, doing some solo touring. I arrived in Ojai earlier than anticipated so rode UP this road to the top of the second descent in the video and then turned around and coasted most of the way down. 50mph on a loaded touring bike is fine until you hit a hole in the road, which I did just before those tunnels, and your rear light detaches itself from the bike and hits the surface in a hundred pieces! Luckily, I only had to get to Santa Monica the following day so there was no need for night riding. Hope to come back and ride the Californian hills again some day.
@@aygwm with 23-28mm road tires you don't need disc brakes.. Now gravel or MTB is completely different story, but on road bike disc brakes are nothing but marketing.. If anything PRO racers crash more now due to blocked wheels..
This area of SoCal is so beautiful. I cycled Hwy 33/Ojai Trail yesterday from Ventura to Ojai return and Hwy 150. Where the traffic is like the 405. Yet on the northern side of Hwy 33 from Ojai not a car on the road. Amazing difference. Were both of you running 28 cm tires or wider?
Amazing scenery. Is that road as nice as it looks in the video? Incredible riding as well. I had a brief stint at 34 mph today, looks like you guys might have averaged that!
There was some road construction by the tunnel but it looks like that's complete, and the area burned in the Thomas fire (2017) but it is substantially recovered. Scenery very typical for Santa Barbara / Ventura county coastal mountain routes, many others similar to this but the 33 is one of the longest if not the longest climb/descent in the area, and less busy than most, though I would ride it on a weekday morning like these guys did.

My maximum is 35mph when I ride and I always imagine what would happen to my skin If I fall at that speed and puss out. You guys are awesome.
I usually hit 54mph or 86kph, in a descent nearby my hometown. The goal is to hit the 62mph barrier, but it's really hard!
35 is a lot smarter than 55 on a bike. Traumatic brain injury it’s forever!
35 is fast enough. Just be safe and confident you will be okay. I will say riding at higher speed is exhilarating though!
Pqp Caraí!
Hit 52 and got the high-speed jitters, horrible I made it.

Haven’t done any road cycling yet this year. This video is motivation enough to finally get going, thanks Safa & Taylor 🤝🏽
Another amazing ride video - thanks Safa and Taylor! Hope Taylor wasn't riding this fast when the car hit him. Hoping for a speedy recovery for him!
Thanks for helping me get through another basement workout. Love your videos. 👍🏼
How did this help you get through another basement workout?
Cervelo S5 with rim brakes - newest isn't necessarily always better; it's the rider that makes the difference.
Yes, one wonders how we ever rode on roads without disc brakes. 🙄

You should do little tejunga! I was disappointed to see you didn't have a time on strava, it's the best technical road in l.a.
nice road biking amigo the beautiful decent watching from las Pinas city Philippines God bless have a nice biking day take care don't crash joke only
Looks like a lot of fun
4:13 almost got half skinned because of dusty road. Top bike handling skills avoided that. Great video.
The wind was actually the main factor there. But those dirt stains are always scary to see. Double trouble 💩
Uitud di tidu yang akan bit..... 😍😍👍👍

very nice ride - thx for the content!
This was shot last year, Strava linked in description as always. Still have this bike and enjoy riding it. It's a keeper! I'm lucky to have choices.

Imagine this first descent on a TT bike 😮
What tire do you ride on the paved road? What is the tire dimension, air pressure, groove designation?
#Badasses 🍻
you guys shoulda started at the top of pine mountain at reyes peak!
We did for the backside descent
Those Vittoria tyres are the only ones Ide trust riding at max speed.

Does your Road Bike come with Ceramic Bearings so you could go way faster?

44mph crash skin to the pavement like a peanut butter.
I wanna try road cycling to be a new hobby but I dont think Im that good at biking to be able to do this.
Start off with short rides and build up from there. These guys are very fit, but even they had to work up to their level of fitness.
