    She was one of the most underrated and underscored gymnasts at that time. She is one of my favorites.

    Lovely Henrietta at her best. I always got my fingers crossed for her, whenever she performed. It was such a relief to see, that you don´t have to be a russian, romanian or east-german robot to make your way in gymnasts. Henrietta, where ever you are, thank you for all the joy you gave us. You are still our one true gymnast queen of hearts!

    1:52 that was amazing! I don't know what these skills are called, but I can't recall ever seeing anyone do that from just standing still, like usually they do something else first & get some momentum. I love this era, the late 80s/early 90s is probably my favorite era to watch in gymnastics.

    In the COP, it's an Onodi. It's named for Onodi because she submitted it to have it named for her at the Olympics or World Championship games.

    I don't know what you're attempting to correct me on. I was responding to someone who thought that an "Onodi" and a "Mostepanova" were different skills. They are the same skill; though named after Onodi in the COP, many diehard fans still call it a Mostepanova out of loyalty to the skill's originator.

    She invented the onodi which I think is an insane skill on the beam. That's the twisting BHS step out.

    • @mysticalmargaret6105

      No, Olga Mostepanova of the Soviet Union was the first to perform the Arabian back handspring on the beam at the 1983 World Gymnastics Championships, 6 years before Henrietta Onodi performed it at the 1989 World Championships. Olga's coaches did not submit the skill to be named for Mostepanova because they erroneously believed that the skill was already in the Code of Points! Henrietta's coaches did not make the same mistake. They submitted the skill at '89 Worlds, and so the skill is named for Onodi! Check out Olga's beam routines at the 1983 Worlds and the 1984 Alternate Games at Olomouc. You'll see that she performed the skill long before Henrietta was even an elite gymnast.

      @@mysticalmargaret6105 Hi I'm so thankful that your comment is from a few days ago instead of 10+ years if it means you have a better chance of responding, where does it say that Olga's coaches didn't submit her skill because they thought it was already a named skill? I have only seen one interview of hers and I didn't think it was in there.

    • @mysticalmargaret6105
      @mysticalmargaret6105 Рік тому

      @@lampwick4427 This is going way back, but iirc, it was from an interview either in IG1, or a video interview from youtube! I distinctly remember it being mentioned that the coaches believed that the skill was in the COP - so they didn't submit it! There are some blogs online that mention that the skill was not submitted by her coaches. Perhaps they read the same article that I did? Mostepanova did not lose out completely on gymnastics glory by not having a skill named for her. It's not as famous as the Onodi, but on floor the forward handspring with a 360° turn was named for her in the COP. It had a difficulty level listed as a C, but it's been years since I've checked! The DV may be much lower now.

    • @lampwick4427
      @lampwick4427 Рік тому

      @@mysticalmargaret6105 Yes I know of that skill! It is still a C which is, I suspect, due to some feverish hope held by some of those amongst the technical committee that someone will bother in the near future.

  • @ralucagymnast
    @ralucagymnast 16 років тому +1

    I think you might be right about Olga not submitting it, but I am pretty sure in the code of points it does bear both names:Mostepanova and Onodi.

  • @backflipbabe10
    @backflipbabe10 17 років тому +2

    i think it's because Olga Mostepanova didn't do it in the olympics, while Hernietta Onodi did.

    • @erinjohnson1124
      @erinjohnson1124 3 роки тому

      You don’t have to do a skill in the Olympics to have it named after you, competing it at Worlds is also acceptable. Many skills have been named at Worlds over the years such as the Okino on beam, Pak salto on bars, and Yurchenko style vault family. In most recent years, Simone Biles, Nina Derwael, Georgia Mae-Fenton and Becky Downie have gotten skills on the books named after them at Worlds.

    • @richardkovacs2006
      @richardkovacs2006 2 роки тому

      @@erinjohnson1124 mostepanova didn't think the move is worthy of a name, she and her team never wveb tried to get it named after her. Onodi waited several years, and nobody asked to name it after them. So she did. But I think I read somewhere she asked it to be named after both of them. I'm not sure if it was possible, though, without the permission of Mostepanova.

  • @ralucagymnast
    @ralucagymnast 16 років тому +1

    Olga actually performed it at the 1983 World Championships. I think it is named after her, if you look in the Code of points its called an Onodi/Mostepanova.

    • @mysticalmargaret6105
      @mysticalmargaret6105 Рік тому

      Long ago post, but unfortunately the skill is only named for Onodi. Her coaches submitted it at 1989 Worlds. Mostepanova's coaches failed to do so at 1983 Worlds. It seems that her coaches assumed that the skill was already in the COP (It was not). I wish that the FIG would at least co-name the skill in the COP the Mostepanova-Onodi.

    C'est vrai que avant 1900 et mon sejour en tunisie, il y avait eu des dangers et des monstres que j'ai croisé et identifié mais je ne vivais pas avec ni dans des systèmes. Donc forcément j'étais heureuse quand c'était possible. Et intensément. Je comprends que personne n'a voulu que j'aide les vieillards malades à guerir de leurs maladies d'aigreur et d'acidité. Ils se demerde à renaître. Et j'écrase les cadavres. J'ai faim. J'ai des remontee acide et je dois chier pour rependre de la vie autour de moi et limiter l'acidité des corps que j'ai saisie. Donc je suis accusée d'être votre mère. Ce qui est déjà une source d'engoisse et une profonde persecution injuste. Une accusation vexante et humiliante. Mais le plus important c'est que vous vous perdiez dans vos troubles identitaires et les mêmes.
