What you said about the ex police cars is 100% fact I totally forgot to mention that in my video my first p71 it ran really good and it definitely had an electrical problem later on and it ended up being in the trunk of a wire from the deck lights have been cut and just as been left there and it was touching the bare metal and was still connected somehow to the battery definitely 100% fact I don't know how I missed that first time I watch this video also the cluster panel goes out also the control instrument and it is 100% because sloppy decommissioning the vehicle I really lucked out with my p7b that I got now it was what you call a slow-moving Patrol vehicle which means it mainly sat around retirement homes in was a super visor and K-9 unit in Florida

Nice video Chuck. I am so envious of the price you paid for your Merc. I watched ads for nearly year before getting my 08 MGM, but nowhere close to the low price you paid.
Right on Allan, The guy was originally asking $4,000 on Craigslist. This was in September 2018. 2010 Mercury Grand Marquis 65K MIles. I emailed him a $2,000 offer. No response. After a month of test driving around 10 different Panther cars he finally emailed me back. We agreed on $2,500. When I test drove it I couldn't believe how clean it was compared to the last 10 I rest drove. When I got it, it had a few warning lights on in the dash that he couldn't figure out how to fix, and he couldn't afford to pay someone to fix it. Dealership shop labor in my area is $185-$225 PER HOUR. lol He said he bought it for his son, but the gas mileage was taking his son to the poor house. lol I don't think I could ever get a good deal like this again. It was a combination, of my patience, and his urgency to get rid of the car. -Chuck
@@PanzerPlatform That's a great story. Maybe the warning lights were scaring away other buyers? My experience was that any listings of clean, low miles panther cars at good prices (under $4k) would be gone within the day. You had to pounce on it within an hour or two of the listing hitting or you'd miss out. I ended up paying $5k for a very clean 08 MGM with 77k miles. Not a steal by any means, but what I would call a decent price for what I was seeing in my area.
Chuck, most excellent as usual. A passing comment on the short lived and seldom seen final incarnation of the Merc Marauder would have a little filigree on this tasty post. Muchas!
Sounds like both of our mercs have lived a similar life. My 2010 started as a rental for the first year of her life. She was then sold to an old guy when she had 31k for $17,400. Then some guy bought her, and was gonna keep it, but wanted a truck. So my parents an i drove up and got her. Now shes mine, hopefully till the day i die.
My ex Seargeants car has had a few Cons in the back seat.😅 And of course a Pro in the drivers seat. 😎 I love the non air ride suspension on my P-71 plus it has more power and firmer shifting transmission. The spotlight is nice too. It has had zero electrical issues from the upgrade or downgrading that you mentioned. It was done right on both instances. Plus it has Carpet instead of a rubber mat and it has cruise control and AM FM stereo cassette player since it was the sergeants car.
My '04CVPI that I've had since 2007 was titled from the State of Pennsylvania was assigned to a township, and the LEO equipment was installed and decommissioned properly. Never have had electrical issues ever, even though there are plugged holes from a rack on the roof. The alley light was left in place on the drivers side and a Setina brand push bumper on the front. It does not have cruise control nor pedal adjustments and I replaced the stock radio with a Kenwood. Previously owned a '91 Ford Crown Victoria from the USPS mail truck escort fleet, with loading dock pushbars and a spotlight but no roof lights ever, also no electronic issues. Before that 2 Chrysler Furies, a '76 and a '79, and a '74 Dodge Monaco which all rotted out like fred flintstone's cars with no floorboards and all had Frankenstein voltage nightmares, including 2 fires.
Right on JT, Any chance you can whip out your cell phone an upload a quick video of that? I'm dying to see it. You too Richard. I've got some good giveaway items coming up, and you'll be eligible to win if you upload a walk around introduction of your Panthers. -Chuck

Right on Todd, Good question. I've only had 3 Panthers so far. The 2000 LX is the only one I sold. I sold it, because I started earning more money with a new job, and replaced it with a brand new car. -Chuck
Probably 99% of Town Car Ls were sold as fleet vehicles, BUT they did sell them (at least for a period of time) privately as well. I knew the owner of an 06 I think Town Car L who bought it new & in a tan/soil type color - all fleet Ls I've seen have been black with the rare white.
Fleet model pros (in my mind): looks cool and is faster, easy to do electrical mods Fleet model cons: interior lacks features, rear doors don’t work, and front of interior is worn down. My poor interior.
Right on Jake, You just reminded me of a funny quote; "Youth, and enthusiasm will never overcome old age, and treachery" It's almost like that "old bull, young bull" joke. -Chuck
Got my 2010 Merc in Sept 2019. Same story as yours, started it's life as a rental then sold to an elderly gentleman. He serviced it at the same dealer he bought it from and traded it in for a town car I heard at the same dealer too. Then I bought it about 3 months after.
