At the start of this story, I did not expect everyone would be dead, by the end, I get the feeling Steven was the cause of it all, directly, indirectly and upbringing.

You all seem to forget that Susan, the one everyone claims is just a victim, allowed her own father in law to massage her feet and calves for over two hours. Thats deceptive and very misleading, and in fact, one could make the accurate assumption that it was her that was the cause of this whole mess. All of our first experiences form the basis of our sexual "fingerprint".
And when a child is a) abused, b) years before they would have naturally had their puberty etc all take place naturally, 3) By same sex person 4) by some decades their senior, 4) by their own flesh & blood
5). But worst of the worst - it's the Father ,the one person tasked with protecting & providing for the child!
This type of abuse ends up repeating. It seems all but certain that Josh then abused his own children in the same way that his father had done to him. He may well have even included his father - idk.
But he would have had that post sex moment of clarity every man gets, but with him, it would be immense shame & guilt - and rightly so of course!
But with that clarity....knowing that he was caught anyway...he ended the cycle of a use right there ,& then.
It's quite the mind fk to think....that by killing his kids and himself....he may have prevented even greater evil, of the ongoing cycle of abuse through God knows how many generations! God knows how many generations had it already been going so for...??!

You cannot say Josh did a "good thing"by burning his children alive (the method itself has earned him a special dungeon in hell!). But you can recognise that potentially, even MORE harm... incalculably more...would have otherwise happened.

When Josh was being investigated over the disappearance of Susan I thought at least he didn't harm the kids. The coward could have killed himself without taking Susan's sons with him. RIP Susan, Charles and Braden. The other three can rot in hell. Hopefully one day Susan will be laid to rest with her boys. Absolutely tragic.

It is unconscionable what happened to the two little boys. This is one of the most heinous stories I have ever heard. I truly wished I had not watched this one.
One of the most upsetting cases I’ve ever come across. The justice system failed Susan and her kids. I never knew about the father being a creep or the brother possibly being involved. Throw that entire family away.
Aside from the family themselves, I also feel so badly for that social worker. Imagine the trauma she’s had to go through seeing that first hand and not being able to do anything. She probably feels an extreme amount of guilt that shes had to live with.
Absolutely! If you ever hear the full phone call, she clearly knows something very bad is happening, but the operator doesn't take her seriously. It must've been horrible
Why would she feel guilty? What could she have done to save those kids? Nothing. Their father grabbed them, pulled them into the house and locked the door. What was the social worker supposed to do, break the door down? She would feel upset, but guilty? No.

I need time to process this one. Its possible maybe the dad killed her accidentally after a rejection. And then Joshua helped his dad cover it up. Suspicion is not enough though. We need forensics and facts to exactly how she died. And by whom and why.

Moment that broke my heart was the father arguing with Steven in front of the news people. Just a man trying to spread awareness about his missing daughter, and then Steven comes and says the things he says, and paints it all in a weird way, brought me sick to my stomach.

The little boy also said during an interview that she is where the strawberry tree grows then caught himself and said no wait I mean blueberry tree. What a strange detail to correct...HeavyDSparks on UA-cam is currently digging in a mineshaft that was vandalized in the area he claimed he went camping and are almost at the bottom of it as of 2/8/22. This mineshaft has a blueberry tree next to it in the middle of the desert. Super interesting watch if your into this story I'm hoping they find her down there.

Your videos are well produced and well researched. What I enjoy most is the balanced, objective treatment to these crime stories. Your channel deserves way more subscribers. Most channels either make the mistake of sensationalizing with biased and judgmental retelling or superficially inflate the "quality" of videos using expensive stock footage. When they interviewed the eldest child he distinctly said, after being asked do you know where your mommy is, ‘she’s where the crystals are’, though they said it was unintelligible. To me, this means she’s buried in a cave / cavern.

This has to be the most insane case I have ever seen. ***(SPOILERS)*** How did all 3 of these guys end up so screwed up? The dad being in love with his daughter in law, the son killing his wife and blowing up his kids, the brother committing suicide out of the blue? There is something wildly deranged about all 3 of them. As crazy as any 3 people can possibly be. I bet there are some odd missing details about their upbringing that we will never know.

Ironically, what was on his computer was actually downloaded before he owned it. They used it to try and trap him into an arrest, but the system failing to cut child visitations entirely, it escalated the situation to the point that it was when that poor visitation worker made those calls - two calls - to 911 for help and dealt with entirely uninterested dispatch who couldn't be bothered to listen to even the basic info provided. Both dispatch and law enforcement in the area have since been criticized for their role in how this played out, and _rightly_ so. No one believed then or now this horrible man and his father were innocent... but the entire operation to investigate and arrest was a dumpster fire.

This case is absolutely horrific. Poor Susan, poor Susans parents, poor innocent little boys, poor social worker who has to live with what happened, the guilt she has to feel ... Steve and Josh Powell destroyed Susan and her family. And the brother - before taking his life, why couldn't he leave a note stating where Susans body is? He knew. I've watched a few videos delving into this case, a couple of them being very informed and very deep. Josh's brother Michael knew where Susans body is. Letting her family know would have cost him nothing. Josh was already gone so he obviously couldn't have been convicted for anything. And Michael was moments away from death, so he wouldn't have had to pay the price for anything. The only good thing about this whole story is that every one of that family of low-lifes is gone. Steve and his two sons. Good riddance to them. And R.I.P to Susan and her baby boys ❤️

This is one of the most disturbing stories I’ve heard. How the father of the woman didn’t deck that creep is beyond me. I couldn’t have held back.
You can see Josh noticed his dad recording them at around the 4:20 mark. Josh goes from laughing and looking around to a locked stare and mouth agape directly into the camera.

Honestly this should be pinned. It seems like common sense everyone would know & follow, but isn't. And it can be daunting to uproot in a short time.. but I've done it. Police only had to be called once to my marriage, after that I was out 3 states away within a month, with a new job & place. I paid through the teeth, and lost in the divorce.. but it doesn't matter. I'm not in the presence of a person who was probably capable of killing me & hiding my body in the crawl space. Life's worth more than any amount of money or inconvenience.
@@A_Ducky Yep. Come from a family with a lot of men with mental health issues and relationships, so I pick up on this shit quick. When someone starts playing with you psychologically in a weird, non-sequitur way, or oddly propositions something, it doesn't necessarily mean they are one of the bad ones, but with consideration for your own well-being, you need to get out of there. Also, beware of men who seem to want to separate you from public image, isolate you from friends and family, even if they seem to present really good reasons for doing it. Make sure men are transparent with you and deliver. Don't give men the benefit of the doubt until they've earned it.

i used to work with susan at wells fargo and she would come in with bruises all the time. we tried to do everything we could to help her leave but she wanted the best for her kids. she was a great person and mother!
When your feelings are telling you that you are in danger, when you have to make statements to the effect that “if I die, it’s no accident”, then LEAVE THE SITUATION AS FAST AS YOU CAN. Take your children and get out, so you and them don’t end up dead.
If she had listened to her voice and acted on it, there’s a good chance she and her sons would be alive.

The 911 dispatcher is at fault for not taking the social worker's call seriously. You can hear the whole 911 conversation on UA-cam. It's an absolute tragedy listening to it, with the dispatcher telling the social worker that there are more important calls the police have to see to first.
That is a horrible 911 call. I hope that dispatcher received further training following that call.
I’ve heard it a few times and can’t listen to it any more it is so horrific. I really hope the operator lost her job.
I think the figure is something like 40 percent of law enforcement are domestic abusers so it doesn’t surprise me they didn’t take the call seriously but it breaks my heart. This poor woman and her children. My heart is broken

In the UK they are held in secure visitation units so that the children are safe.
I believe that Utah changed the laws regarding supervised visitation after this happened.
That's what's SO bad about Josh! He WAS mandated to have his supervised visits in securely monitored places BUT he made the other parents and children SO UNCOMFORTABLE in every single one of those places that the courts decided to allow him to conduct these visits at home... he was that much of a creep!
He should never have been allowed to have those visits to begin with! He made the boys sleep naked with him in bed and had tons of Cihld_Pron on his computer, how was he allowed to have contact at all is my main question.

My sister lives behind this family in West Valley. My brother in law said he was just an odd, nerdy guy. Little did he know he was standing next to a narcissistic, controlling, pathetic murderer.
What’s crazy is that they rightfully only allowed supervised visits to Josh to protect the kids. But that bastard locked the social worker out of the house after the kids went in. What a monster to kill his kids with him. He could have just done one decent thing in his life and offed himself without taking the kids with him.
I’ve seen this a few times where people have had a bad stomach feeling & have documented it then they’ve ended up murdered! Goes to show we should take notice of our gut feeling, it’s helped me a few times! I’ve watched a few videos about this case, it’s absolutely devastating!

Like everyone else has said, I’ve seen countless videos on this case since it happened so I didn’t expect much when I watched this one but man was I wrong. You had so many details and extra info that I had never heard or seen in every other video covering this case. Props to you, it was awesome! 👏🏼
The neighbor or neighbors, really should have immediately called the police when they heard the fighting and screaming coming from their house in the middle of the night. That could've possibly changed the outcome of this whole case. Susan might have survived and if she was still alive her children probably would've lived too. People don't like to get involved but in a situation like that it is very necessary.
The guilt haunts them. As there is a reason why you've been placed at the right place at the right time and you're been made privy to whatever you have. His first girlfriend was intelligent. She was like, to hell with you.

It always baffles me on the cases when someone hears or sees something that's obviously not right & they don't do anything about it & come to find out someone was hurt or murdered?!! You would think the neighbor who sat there and heard the car alarm go off, followed by someone yelling "get in the van" & "no you're going to hurt me if I do" would have immediately called the police, but no one was informed of anything, until she didn't show up to work.
The 2 911 calls from the CPS supervisor are the most gut-wrenching things I've ever heard in the years I've been listening to true crime docus. I can't even believe that there was so much "clumsy" handling of this whole case from beginning to end. The fact that Josh walked free to the point that he was able to kill his kids during a "supervised visit" is such a slap in the face to the justice system. How did we get this far without being able to pin him down? Those kids had so many chances to be saved. Absolute heartbreaker.

I have seen and heard this story, but no one ever went into the detail of what a significant role his father played in this, OMG poor Susan and I feel so bad for those children, having lost their mom, and then their dad killing them so violently 😢, prayers to Susan’s family hope she is found one day and can bring them some peace of mind.

It took some strength to think about this unforgettable, unimaginable, evil crime again. It’s painful for us as strangers, Susan’s family and friends must still be suffering.
Highly recommend listening to the podcast called Cold from Wondery. It goes into SO much detail about this case and even hear Josh’s audio journals as well as his dad’s. Things one of those cases that just keeps me up at night.
