Exactly! Whitetail habitat solutions has tons of good information but it’s hard for me to focus because of all the stories!

Scouting in summer helps tell a story but coming to season they change their patterns with pressure. I mostly scout early September and set on a few prime spots in October. Some times with success some times not.

Big buck small buck. They all bed in think overgrown areas. Some with grass . Some with thorns. Only difference is the younger buck comes out of his in daylight more.

How do big rub areas correlate to buck bedding areas? If they do at all ?

my understanding of it is simple matter that when you see a lot of rubs in one spot could be a bedding spot ..and there's more rubs cuz they are just there more ...now I might be Rong but that's my understanding

Rubs are a sign of a transition area where he feels safe to transition to food. Some where he's eating between bed and food and in-between bed and food there is a what's called a transition. Rubs arnt really a big deal early season they'll do them randomly too. But if there is some good woody browse between primary food source and a bed they'll spend some time there rubbing and eating and proceed with the wind in a football pattern around the primary food source to scent check it. They bed with wind. I ha e found they mostly bed with wind to their back and eyes in the open.
