This guy has this charisma and calmness that either makes him the sweetest guy ever or a serial killer
The real Andrew I got that Ice truck killer vibe from him
Those disarming smiles in between bits of information...
People who want to take advantage of you use the characteristics of niceness to start their insidious process.
Or like Clark Kent and Superman.
@daywalkermike - with a little bit of young Toby Maguire
"There's no such thing as "too slow ". Everyone plays too fast. "
Write that down. It's gold.
I need a sign that says "PLAY. IT. SLOW." on the wall behind my music stand.
I can only play slow. I was hoping to learn how to play, at least, normal speed. Noodler.
It sounds good good on YT but no, it's not. You can bullshit yourself as much as you want but no. Another "if you can play slow you can play fast" lazy ass. Lol. There's no shortcut around busting your ass practicing. Source: julliard graduate european orchestra member.
@@ThePandaGuitar You're saying because he said play it slowly, he was simultaneously insinuating you could play it quickly? The point of playing it slowly is to master the technique and gain speed relative to skill, without losing the quality. I'm not sure you read the comment correctly, or interpreted the video accurately if you think he's a "lazy ass" lol.
Asking my drummer friend to play slow when all he does is play blast beats.
you're turning into the bob ross of the youtube guitar community (i say that as a compliment), that "there's no rush, there's nowhere we need to be" was so relaxing.
btw I still wanna hear your baroque guitar with distortion
Idk, man. I think Adam Levy gets my vote as the Bob Ross of youtube guitar!
@@fephrey a fight to the death to settle the title then!
I tried some fuzz on my dad's lute recording, that's totally badass ahah
I can definitely see - or rather, hear - the resemblance. A very relaxed way to communicate. I like it. Bob Ross (love his work) rekindled my dad's love for painting before dad sadly passed away.
ASMR Classic Guitar Channel :)
This guy is hypnotizing.
Maybe it's the oscillating lights in the background.
Dude has one of the most amazing smiles I've seen.
It’s his vampire powers.
Yo wtf I need to know your transition from metal to classical damn thats unexpected
It isn't that much. Not so surprisingly, those styles of music communicate a lot. They do have a lot in common, and most sensibilities start with one and after a few years discover how they get an almost opposed yet quite comparable pleasure listening to/playing the other.
@@SamraK64 not even transition, my and my friends are playing both at the same time. "Por que no los dos?"
I would say metal has a lot more in common with classical music than classic rock, for example. I have a hardcore metal head of a friend that started playing classical tunes because he recognized a lot of what he was already familiar with in it when I played.
A lot of metal musicians are heavily inspired by classical music, and you can kinda think of modern metal as rock meets classical. There are some *very* symphonic bands out there, check out Wintersun for a good example, if a bit in the extreme at times.
I probably should have phrased myself better. I was more so shocked because of such a drastic change in person to see his past as a headbanging metalhead with a mane to such a chill sexy vampire ya know
There’s nothing better than learning from someone that actually knows about his or her craft. Brandon knows what he’s doing. He doesn’t stutter. His knowledge just flows. It’s admirable.
A rare beast indeed in the UA-cam instructional video menagerie.
Man, for real, you should make a video telling us about your metal years, show us a few compositions, the rig you used... that would be awesome. Also, you really are the Bob Ross of classical guitar, and that is a great compliment.
This is quickly becoming my favourite guitar channel. Keep it up man .. love from India
I'm seriously considering lessons in Classical guitar now, after many years of playing Rock and Metal. Even more encouraging to know that's where you started as well! :) Thank you for these videos and the inspiration.
same.
I also started on the electric guitar, playing metal, then rock n roll, then blues, and now I'm mostly playing Bach and some paganini (on electric guitar, but I'm planning to buy a nylon)
is maith liom do leasainm a mhic haha. an éireannach no cainteoir gaeilge thú?
Classical guitar can only help you if you want to become a metal god. There's a reason Yngwie is called a neo*classical* player.
cool username man! "silence without loneliness", right?
1 video per week?
YES PLEASE
Brandon... you helped me improve my guitar technique so much, it is unbelievable! First off, let me give you my background. I hold a bachelor's and master's degree in guitar performance (Boston Conservatory and Florida State, respectively). However, my playing was always flawed due to lack of solid technique. I simply didn't know how to improve... so I gave up. I didn't have any concept of slow, methodical practice and had no idea how to improve at the time. Fast forward 40 years (yes, 40 years)... I just purchased a used classical guitar a couple months ago. I haven't put it down since. Using your spider crawl for a myriad of technical issues... pull offs, hammer ons, and slow/ fast alternation. Well... it's like a miracle... setting my metronome to excruciatingly slow tempos in the beginning, I have now increased my speed to 120 BPM for 16th notes using fingers i and a. I was NEVER able to do anywhere near this before while at the conservatory or at grad school. I cannot thank you enough... speed was such a stumbling block all my life. I just can't believe that by modifying your spider crawl, I have improved that much in a matter of months. (Granted, I practice now at an average of 6 hours per day... but still!) Thank you so much!!!
This man is so calm, and well spoken. Hes so clearly passionate about what he's teaching and that passes on to the viewer. Could easily become my favourite youtube guitarist.
He’s already mine after discovering him a few weeks ago lol
I was needing exatly that! Your tips are very helpful, especially for a begginer like me. You are one of my greatests inspirations dude, I hope one day I can play the guitar like you!
Best guitar coach I’ve ever found online. Thank you for creating such a good content keep this up.
Is he teaching me mindfulness and calmness or guitar....I guess it's a combination of both and it's awesome
Metal is such a good gateway drug to get deeper into music ^^
It builds up a lot of passion and curiosity.
The more complex metal can be very deep music in itself
Yeah, it is!
I'm a classical guitarist for about 6-7 years and that must be one of the best possible warm up routines you can create, it's the routine my teacher created for me from the very beginning and he was very serious about me followin the program, now I'm considered one of the most talented and best sounding guitarists in my country thaks to this routine. Also when he said "There's no such thing as "too slow ". Everyone plays too fast. " that's something I truly hate but it's 100% right and it's the best advice ever.
wow these really make sense for warming up, i had no idea what to do before
He’s the reincarnation of calmness and the guitar he’s the true air of the guitar
This guy is so easy to listen to. As a Brit this is the best American out their for guitar.
I'm a pleb and i have an acoustic guitar trying to play the classical way or classical pieces. I do want to say though, Brandon has helped me out immensely when it comes to learning tips and tricks. I'm going to be getting a Spanish guitar soon and right after, I'm signing up for his online courses because of what an amazing teacher he is.
I don’t often stop to appreciate how much free information there is on the internet. It’s thanks to channels like this one!
Few people realize what an amazing resource we get today in 2021 from people like Brandon Acker and other UA-cam guitarists. In the past you’d learn a lot of that from personal guitar teachers or from printed books. But here you get a lot of it for free from him and other guitar you tubers. No one here has an excuse not to become a proficient guitarist.
This man is brilliant. This kind of content is hard to come by! Meaningful stuff, coming from somebody who actually plays well. I wish a lot more people come to your channel. Thanks Brandon!
I watched this a few weeks ago and it has changed my practice. I notice a difference already in the quality and ease of my playing. Thanks so much for sharing your experience!
Congratulations on the 100k subscribers Brandon!! Everyone loves your content, please stay active, you really help with your videos!
Thanks for sharing Brandon, I'll try those exercises this week
Awesome! 10minutes into practicing these warm-ups and I can feel and hear a difference in my playing! Thank you.
I like him for acknowleging the Kazoo in the description
I played Bach's Gigue in E m. back in a college recital. I went into a sound room where someone was playing piano. I picked up a stand up bass and played it for ten minutes. Then I performed the Gigue and I couldn't believe how fast I played. I got a standing ovation.
Brandon, you are absolutely amazing at teaching.
The passion you have while playing and talking about it is inspiring. I wish you all the best
Great warm up exercises!! Thank you! ❤️
Your calm is wonderful.
This is such an underrated video like it's been four days I've been doing and I'm seeing the improvements already! Thank you so much
Brandon your channel is a golden mine, for me, greetings from Argentina
You're an amazing teacher man and one of the most incredible guitarists that I can think of. Thank you for your time and for reminding people to just slow it the heck down. I'm quickly becoming a big fan.
I'm absolutely enthralled by your videos, Brandon! I've been following you since the first Rob Scallon videos and I just find your solo videos immensely calming, even the ones where you talk more than you play. You've a very peaceful tone to your videos and I get super happy whenever I see that you've posted something.
Brandon is a blessing to us , His voice and calmness just makes his videos magical, Thank you for these educational videos Brandon.
That background music😍 one day I want to play as good as you
Hey mate, I'm still a beginner guitarist and your guitar tips have been been insanely helpful and inspirational at the same time. Thanks for sharing
one word,...excellent! the most important aspect to guitar playing, technique..many thanks
You have the knack to explain things clearly. Have noticed that in your videos with Rob as well. This video series that you've started to do is really good!
Wonderful helpful videos from Brandon. Been playing at home for years and find that every video helps my overall perspective towards the enjoyment of playing, getting better, and shedding unhelpful notions of rushing. "Nowhere we need to be" ... enjoy the process.
I didn't realise how important warming up is. I used to get super discouraged when I would make mistakes while playing and this made things so much better.
You're a beautiful human being Brandon. Thank you so much for this lesson. It helps me a lot.
Man I'm so thankful for these videos, they are so beautifully made and so helpful and interesting. I've actually started playing a lot more classical guitar since a few weeks ago because I got inspired by you.
your videos are like meditation for me. so calming
Hey Brandon. I'm an adult student of guitar. I love your attitude and presentation. Your tone of voice is something extremely refreshing. Please keep doing what you're doing. I love the performance videos, your introducing videos, and your tips. I think together they help my stay interested and if I'm interested I practice. Anyway, thanks.
Thanks Brandon! Awesome video!
Keep making videos Brandon, soon the world will find your channel and enjoy your unique skill set. I have played guitar my entire life, and you have inspired me to practice more often.
Love your videos! pls keep on making more.
Thanks great, your patience is appreciated
I stumbled on your channel. It’s fantastic. Genuinely helpful, thank you.
I love to watch you play, but these tips you provide are so helpful to my own playing! Thank you very much for taking the time to do them. I look forward to seeing more.
This has become my new favorite channel!
Thanks for all your advice, you are a great guitar teacher.
Thank you, Brandon. I began teaching myself guitar about a year ago and I've been committed to doing these exercises daily alongside my scales since watching this video (despite some initial reluctance) after some frustrations with a lack of accuracy in my playing. Slowing down and taking the time to warm up my fingers has seen a great increase in the quality of my playing, and by proxy, an increase in my enjoyment of the instrument. Love the thoughtfulness, care, and enthusiasm you put into your teaching. Keep it up!
I've been playing about a month, with a strat so definitely not a classical style, but this channel has been the greatest thing I've found to boost my knowledge. Really awesome work!
I discovered you a while back on Rob's channel and only the past week am I diving into your channel and I LOVE these basic practice videos. As a poorly self-taught guitarist - these clearly laid-out foundations are a gold mine. Thank you - perfectly presented.
You're an amazing teacher, thanks for the warm up routine!
Hi Brandon. I'm impressed with your teaching. It really reminds me of when I first started learning classical guitar, back home in Spain, in the 80s! My teacher gave me all the basics: from sitting, hand positions, varieties in plucking, tuning etc… it's so refreshing to see all of it, plus other new things, in your videos. Really well done. Pleasure to listen to you.
I love your lessons so much. Even if it's something I might already be acquainted with - seeing how you approach it and hearing you explain it in your own way is very relaxing and beneficial.
Thank you for all the effort and love you put into your work and videos Brandon❤
What a great series of videos. I am just starting again after an absence of too many years and this is such a help; thank you Brandon!
Mr. Acker u are the imbodiment of everything a teacher of any kind should be. i admire not only your skill which is pretty obvious even to someone not enjoying playing, but your patience and love for the instrument. Your lessons and advices motivate me very much to continue learning and become much better guitarist than i am at this moment. As soon as i im able to sit up straight without pain im going to rewatch all your videos and try my best because i love the guitar and i love you!
Nice! Digging the guitar tips! Keep up the good work!
Thank you so much. These exercises will be a great help 🤗
I have been using these exercises whenever I practice my bass guitar and they're really helpful! I started focusing a lot more closely on my finger and hand technique whenever I do my warm ups and it has improved my technique a lot. Until I watched this video, I never heard someone explain exactly why you should warm up before playing your instrument. Thanks so much for these tip videos, you're one of my favorite teachers! 😊
I just bought my first classical guitar the other day. Been playing for like 14 years but have never touched classical, really. Now after years of playing metal I'm going back to school for classical guitar of all things! Feels like a weird thing to do in your mid 20s but fuck it, ya know? This channel is largely what inspired me to start down this new path and I'm grateful for it.
Perfekt Course! Thanx for that.
Thank you!!! Just what I needed!
After watching this video I have now learned how to play with my finger (index and middle!) I'm new to guitar and have been using my thumb the whole time but this video showed me the correct way to play. Thank you so much for these videos, I'm learning way more compared to other channels. You definitely got yourself a new subscriber.
Ser, You are the best Classical guitar teacher in UA-cam! Please let these lessons go on.
I reallly found a good guitar teacher! This video forces me to buy a guitar and practice. I mean it.
Thank you Brandon.
My friend thank you for your videos. I just stumbled upon your channel this morning. I’ve been watching and taking notes from your videos. Thank you for passing down your knowledge. I am grateful for you teaching simple yet to the point. Sending love from Texas
There's something about your way of explaining and your voice, that really motivates me to be patient with myself and keep on practicing... You can tell there's a lot of Spanish guitar knowledge in you, (as a latin american I am so proud). Thank you for sharing you máster tips!! I hope I can play like you one day. Kisses from México 💜
Thank you Superman for your amazing guitar tip
I got chills because your speaking is so relaxing😂 great video, keep going!
I play the banjo and I find the neck exercises transfer over perfectly. Very useful, thanks.
excellent teacher, very efficient, I recommand this video
Great lesson!!
Been feeling dispirited lately with my playing, this really helped put me in the right mindset and gave me some good stuff to focus on. Thank you!
Thank you so much for sharing this important information, warming up now every time I am Practicising
Hi again. I will make this my starting point. I made notes so this can help focus what I'm doing with my guitar. I have my journal (common mistakes video), and metronome. As I'm restarting my guitar playing basically from zero these seem the best place to begin. Thank you for having these videos available to all. Really helps.
Shiiiit. You've found a new patrion. Iv been self taught for 10 years and iv picked up really bad habits. Videos like this really really help. Thank you
Incredibly simple yet profound! Beautiful stuff my friend🙏 Thanks for the reminder I needed it😂
Thank you for these tips! I’ll definitely start incorporating them into my guitar practice. Also, thank you for verbally explaining each exercise and demonstration. I’m blind, so I can’t see what you’re doing with your hands. Your explanations were very clear and made perfect sense to me. Again, thank you!
Great insights, excellent systematic approach to warmup🎸👨🏫 🤗🤗
I am new to the guitar but have over 30 years on the clarinet.
This is one of the best videos on the subject of proper warm up - if not THE best. Kudos 👏
Thank you so much dear Brandon! This really helps...
This is the best channel ever. I always get the best suggestions from him which always works for me!!!
Another amazing tip!!!
Great content! Your videos are pure gold for me. Thank you for sharing your skills and knowledge with us. You are a fantastic musician and an excellent teacher. Cheers from Brazil!
I just subscribed to you. You do really support and help me on my weaknesses! Thanks!
Great warm up indeed, thank you very much
Thanks you so much. Im a begginer in classical guitar, and it helps me a lot watching your vidoes.
Invaluable information. Thanks.
Just found this channel. I'd like to see more especially these sort of videos. You have a very mellow and approachable way of teaching what you know. I look forward to the next guitar tips video.
Thank you so much for the tips, I felt in love with the classical guitar, and I don't even want to put it down.. I'm a beginner, and I know that their is a long journey ahead into mastering this wonderful instrument, but it's totally worth it!
