When Limp Bizkit first came out everyone had their CD and put it on randomly. It wasn't until like almost ten years after their chocolate starfish album that people began making fun of them. I can see why too cuz the internet really showed the world a lot more music then the radio could.
Nobody hated them, anyone who says they hated them (like you) almost certainly secretly loved them. Plus, kids in the current era who say they listened to Limp Bizkit ironically & eventually ended up liking them are just really admitting that they themselves aren't half as cool as they thought they were originally and their mask slipped off while listening to L.B.. Nobody has any defence against these guys, you either love them or you love them.
Decades later I’ve come back and listened to these guys and have to admit I still love them. You just don’t get this anger/energy with todays music. Probably why they’re seeing a revival with younger generations.

Funny story, this song almost didn't happen. The bit at the start where Fred says to take em to the Matthews bridge means for the drummer to start the song in a specific way leading to a bridge the band had written with Dave Matthews. Wes didn't feel the bridge was appropriate for the song and they couldn't figure out how to get this song to work, but with time in the studio running out Fred said fuck it, told Otto to just "Take em to the Matthews Bridge" and My Generation was created.

The ultimate "Shut The Fuck Up Boomer" anthem, by the one and only Bizkit. Written and released way before we realized we desperately needed it.
This was an probably an attack towards Silent Gen more the youngest boomers where still on their 30's when this song came out.
