I saw her last night in Portland (ME). She seems very genuine, humble, and talented. Her, and her outstanding backup trio did a brief but solid set. I'm rather old and jaded, but I have to say she is one of the most interesting new performers I have heard in years. I hope she has lots more in the tank. Thanks, Maggie. It's nice to find inspiration in someone once in a while. It's so rare these days...

2016 was very tough for me... I lost my muse and inspiration as a musician when Prince died. And being a kid from the 80's losing Bowie and George Michael were also like kicks to the gut. A friend of mine posted Maggie's video with Pharell and being a producer myself I couldn't help but glow watching her nervous glances at him to see what his reaction was going to be. I looked her up and saw that she had signed to Capitol and had 2 songs out... Alaska and Dog Years. These two songs took me back to my childhood... my Mom was a total hippie always listening to Carol King, Joni Mitchell, Fleetwood Mac... she'd dance around our house in the our small country town. Watching Maggie's 2 videos brought me back to this time... growing up a country boy in a small no name town with the hills, rivers, creeks as our playground. I can't help but smile listening and watching Maggie. We lost Prince, Bowie and George... but we got Maggie. I can't wait for my GF and I to see her live in San Francisco in March. I'm going to be the 40 yr old dude dancing my ass off in my own little world =)

I hate to compare.....but I couldn't help to think of Fiona Apple after hearing Maggies music. Actually I havent even thought of her in ten years or so. Fionna, at the time, was way ahead of her time. As I feel Maggie is too! Those of us that are able to appreciate what she is offering are truly the lucky ones. This music is so raw and so real and absolutely stunning. Completely different from anything out there. True artist right here. I can't wait for more!

I don't know why, but Maggie gave me Karen Carpenter flashbacks in this video. Maybe it's the nice voice or the sweater. I love the nostalgia this video evokes. Suits the song perfectly. The old, rustic weekend camp hall building where everyone would eat lunch together, the canoe paddles on the dock on a cool, hazy fall morning, playing card games to pass the slow time. Love it. Brings me back to my early high school and middle days, the beautiful, blue lake and mountains in the backdrop, the autumn leaves damp and faded upon the dirt road, the adorable dogs paddling through the water. Wish I could go back sometimes, but am happier now than I’ve ever been so it’s purely sentimental.

My daughter went to this camp last year. Maggie Rogers came back (social distance style). This place has given my daughter unalloyed joy like she has in no other part of her life. There's a reason MR is dedicated to it as well all these years later. So lucky to have found it.

I feel your pain and am so sorry for your loss. We just lost our little buddy at the beginning of June "he was a maltipoo", he was with us for 7 unforgettable years. My girlfriend and I saw him as our son. Without him I wouldn't have been able to get through some of the toughest times I've ever had to face. After his passing one day when I was in shambles I discovered That's Where I Am without ever hearing Maggie Rogers before. Then another day when I was in bad shape this played automatically after another song on YT. We feel like both were a message from him. These songs both make me cry but also help me feel much more hopeful about eventually reuniting with our baby boy some day.

For the life of me I couldn't figure out who Maggie Rogers reminded me of until a moment ago and it was my first babysitter back in 1969 when I was four years old. In this video, Maggie looks identical to a much loved "hippie" who took care of me when I was a wee one. I especially love this connection to my life because that young woman also owned a dog that I loved dearly.
