I grew mines in a 5 gallon self watering bucket. My first time growing them and now I have even bigger plans for next year! My mom was shocked when she saw them! Its so fun digging in the ground and discovering how big they get!

Kim, nice going, but Please don’t toss the sweet potato vines.
*Take a tarp remove the soil from your 100 gallon container.
*Then place ALL those lovely organic vines down in the bottom part of the container.
*stomp them down a bit it you can but this is optional
    * put 1/3 the soil back soak it down with water
*Then put the remaining soil back in the container.
You have added height as well as good organics that will break down over winter. You can also save your banana peels and vegi scraps in the freezer all year long and place them on top of the vines after harvest, each year. This is much better than grass clippings and leaves. Some people chop healthy vegi vines up and leave them on the top to decompose then mix them back in next season when they amend with fertilizer. . you are inspiring keep up the good work.

I am so grateful you showed up in my recommendeds. I used to live in Englewood, grew up there. I moved to Springboro and back to Tipp City before moving to Clearwater, Fl. Very recently, my mother and brother were buried in Brookville and I am just devastated. I'm not trying to bring you down. It's extremely traumatic and a shock you wouldn't believe possible. Seeing you and the area takes me back there, thank you. I'm so glad the Lord put you here for me, thank you. My gardening here in SW Florida couldn't be any more different than in Ohio LOL. Thanks for connecting me back.

In 2021 I planted sweet potato slits in in bags of crushed leaves and vegetables fertilizer.
I grew the largest sweet potatoes and they were purchased from Lowe’s discount rack.
I fertilized one time and left them alone because of my disability.
I will always plant sweet potatoes and greens.
I left them in the ground 120 days.
    This was my first time.
I enjoyed your harvesting sweet potatoes.

Hey Sista Kim🖐🏾😁I’m here for your sweet potato harvest and it looks like an abundant one. I haven’t had much luck growing slips so I will probably purchase some slips. I agree with you they are a little pricey on Amazon. I tried to start my slips from the organic potatoes I purchased from the store 3 times and each time they would rot in the soil . I’m not giving up. Super motivated after watching your harvest.

@@HangingwithKim Yes it is a perennial. It's leaves and stems are useful for tea and salves, however, it's root has the greatest healing properties. When harvesting the root, only take half - it will continue to grow.

i grow my sweet potatoes in 15-gallon grow bags. that way, at harvest time, i only need to flip the bag over and pick out the potatoes. no digging required, especially deep digging. and i keep the skinny spindly ones for next year's slips. also, with 15-gallon grow bags, it's impossible to over water because the bags dry out pretty quickly.
