I grew mines in a 5 gallon self watering bucket. My first time growing them and now I have even bigger plans for next year! My mom was shocked when she saw them! Its so fun digging in the ground and discovering how big they get!
Digging potatoes is like digging for treasure.
Amazing harvest. Next year when you start new slips can you show us how you do it? much thanks
You bet! Below is a link to how I did it this year.

Nice harvest! My family grew sweet potatoes and lots of food. I am going to start gardening too. New friend here!
Thanks, and welcome to the channel 😀
That is a great harvest.
Thank you!
Hey Kim. Very nice harvest. I’m going to try to grow some Asian sweet potatoes. I got some sprouts now. I’m excited to see what I get. Safe travels to you 😊
Thank you. It seems I'm always on the road lately. I love Asian sweet potatoes. Delicious!
Nice harvest and I feel you when I see some of those prices I’m like nope I’ll do it myself
Thank you. Those prices are completely ridiculous.
What a great harvest! Congratulations 🎉🎉🎉 SO happy for you!!!❤
Thank you so much!😁😁
Beautiful harvest! Enjoy!! Thanks for sharing
Thanks for visiting
Kim, nice going, but Please don’t toss the sweet potato vines.
*Take a tarp remove the soil from your 100 gallon container.
*Then place ALL those lovely organic vines down in the bottom part of the container.
*stomp them down a bit it you can but this is optional
* put 1/3 the soil back soak it down with water
*Then put the remaining soil back in the container.
You have added height as well as good organics that will break down over winter. You can also save your banana peels and vegi scraps in the freezer all year long and place them on top of the vines after harvest, each year. This is much better than grass clippings and leaves. Some people chop healthy vegi vines up and leave them on the top to decompose then mix them back in next season when they amend with fertilizer. . you are inspiring keep up the good work.
Thanks for the tip. I've never thought about adding the vines to the bottom of my container. I will be doing that going forward for sure. Thanks for watching! 😊💕💕
Great harvest! Those leaves look delicious! You could also keep those vines either in pots or in water for the coming spring.
Thanks for the tip!
I am so grateful you showed up in my recommendeds. I used to live in Englewood, grew up there. I moved to Springboro and back to Tipp City before moving to Clearwater, Fl. Very recently, my mother and brother were buried in Brookville and I am just devastated. I'm not trying to bring you down. It's extremely traumatic and a shock you wouldn't believe possible. Seeing you and the area takes me back there, thank you. I'm so glad the Lord put you here for me, thank you. My gardening here in SW Florida couldn't be any more different than in Ohio LOL. Thanks for connecting me back.
Wow. I know all of those areas. I'm so sorry for your recent loss, but I hope I brought back some good memories for Ohio.
KIM WHAT A BEAUTIFUL HARVEST. NEXT YEAR, PLEASE SHARE THE ENTIRE PROCESS, THX
The video on how to grow sweet potato slips is below. Please let me know if you have any questions and thanks for watching. 💕 💕😊

Show your neighbors how to plant what they like and you can have a neighborhood bartering system…they’re called grocery store veggies, get a scale so you can also compare to the store prices and know your yield! Congrats and way to go!
Thanks for the tip and I really like the idea of how much I'm saving vs. The grocery store.
In 2021 I planted sweet potato slits in in bags of crushed leaves and vegetables fertilizer.
I grew the largest sweet potatoes and they were purchased from Lowe’s discount rack.
I fertilized one time and left them alone because of my disability.
I will always plant sweet potatoes and greens.
I left them in the ground 120 days.
This was my first time.
I enjoyed your harvesting sweet potatoes.
Thanks for watching. Sweet potatoes are one of the easiest veggies to grow. Set it and forget it. 😊 💕🍠
Your harvest is amazing!
Thank you!
I HARVESTED SOME OF MINE IN A 100 GALLON HORSE TUB YESTERDAY. AND I ALSO GREW MY OWN SLIPS THIS YEAR. MY HARVEST IS JUST AS GREAT AS YOURS. I GAVE THEM AWAY TO MY BROTHER AND HIS WIFE.I GROW A BIG CONTAINER GARDEN JUST TO LOOK AT AND HAVE SOMETHING TO DO AND ENJOY. LOVE YOUR CHANNEL. I STILL HAVE ABOUT 15 CONTAINERS AND GROW BAGS TO HARVEST. I GIVES AWAY MOST OF MY GARDEN TO FAMILY AND FRIENDS. BLESS YOU.🥰🥰😃😃
Thanks for watching! Gardening is so relaxing and peaceful. That's where I go when I need to meditate.
Potatoes are my favorite things to harvest..its like a treasure hunt and never gets old!
I totally agree!
Wow, great harvest! You're so inspiring, thanks for sharing, Kim.
Thanks for watching!
It was such a pleasure watching you, as you knew what to do and went for it. Glad it turned out well for you.
Thank you, and thanks for watching 💕
Hello Kim. The harvest was spectacular. Im hyped about growing next summer. Thx for the inspiration.
Wonderful! You can do it too!!
Hey Sista Kim🖐🏾😁I’m here for your sweet potato harvest and it looks like an abundant one. I haven’t had much luck growing slips so I will probably purchase some slips. I agree with you they are a little pricey on Amazon. I tried to start my slips from the organic potatoes I purchased from the store 3 times and each time they would rot in the soil . I’m not giving up. Super motivated after watching your harvest.
I will share my process next year as I start slips again. I was so excited with my harvest this year.
That's a beautiful harvest. You did that!
😁😁😁😁 thank you!
I've been cutting mine up, blanching and freezing mine. For just me i have them in freezer ziplock bags. When cooked they taste just like freshly harvested!
Great tip! I may do that with some of mine over the winter months when things slow down.
Fantastic harvest. I am sure you will enjoy them. Enjoyed your enthusiasm. Good information.
Thanks for watching! I can't wait to try this year's harvest.
I understand I just ate a Beauregard I planted. So yummy.@@HangingwithKim
God has blessed you for working so hard!! God is good!!
All the time, yes, He is!
You go ahead and take that win girl. "You did it". Nicely done..
Thank you! 💕 😊
Hiya, Ms Kim! ❤ YOU GOT SUCH A GREAT HARVEST! 😍😍😍
Thank you! 😊
Your sweet potato joy is awesome! And congrats on the great harvest. Oh, and don't toss the small ones. They are great as a sweet and flavourful thickener in soups!
Thanks for watching. I use those small ones for yams. They are so tender and delicious.
I was so excited for you watching this 🎉. Your joy is contagious!
😊 thank you
Your soil looks good, very "fluffy." I used comfrey tea, it's smells but the results are worth it.
Thanks for watching. I need to grow and use Comfrey too. Maybe next year. I hear it's a perennial.
@@HangingwithKim Yes it is a perennial. It's leaves and stems are useful for tea and salves, however, it's root has the greatest healing properties. When harvesting the root, only take half - it will continue to grow.
Awwh, so happy for you and nice sweet potatoes.
Good job, enjoy!
Thank you!! 😊
I think you are a great gardening lady
Beautiful harvest, I really enjoyed your video thanks for sharing 👍

Well done loyal faithful servant that abundance harvested sweet potatoes. I will harvest my before this Thanksgiving I have planted July 9 zone 9B. Happy Fall Days
I wished I had a longer growing season. I wouldn't have to preserve so much to ensure a year's supply. Thanks for watching. 💕
Great harvest
Thank you!😊💕😊
Thank you so much sis, I'm trying to grow my slips right now.
Very nice. I start my slips in February for a May planting just after the last frost for the year.
Awesome job mom! I'm so excited for you 🎉❤
Thank you!!💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕😊😊

Yay! Thank you!😁😁
wow, that;s marvelous. you did good girl. did you know they have potato seeds now, i'm going to try them this year. glad you shared this video. thanks.
I did hear about the potato seeds I may have to play around with them next year. Thanks for watching!
New subscriber. I want to do sweet potatoes this year. I’ll be following along!
Great! Thanks for subbing! 💕
i grow my sweet potatoes in 15-gallon grow bags. that way, at harvest time, i only need to flip the bag over and pick out the potatoes. no digging required, especially deep digging. and i keep the skinny spindly ones for next year's slips. also, with 15-gallon grow bags, it's impossible to over water because the bags dry out pretty quickly.
I've used 15 gallon bags as well, but this year, I grew bigger potatoes in my 100 and 25 gallon bags. Thanks for watching! 💕
I love your videos and they are so informative!
Thank you so much!
SUBSCRIBED!
Hey those little skinny ones are not too small, they're perfect for slicing! Easy to cut and cook in a hurry. Good to have some skinnies as well as plump sweet potatoes imo 🙂👍
Thanks for the sub!
Awesome video... A new subscriber and glad to have found your channel!!!!😁
Welcome aboard!
Nice harvest, I'm going to wait until sometime in November before harvesting my sweet potatoes. 😊
Thank you. I wish I could have waited a little longer, too, but I'm thoroughly satisfied with my harvest. Good luck with your harvest!
Thank you for the information may God bless you.
You are very welcome
Great harvest Kim
Beautiful potatoes
Thank you!!! And they were very sweet too.
Wonderful harvest. I planted slips at the end of July and I am trying to patiently wait to harvest. I’m in Zone 7B in NC. Night time temps are in the 40’s so I’m a little concerned it might be too cold.
Hello. Sorry for the late reply. If you have 120 days in ground, you should be good to go.
Good job!
Thanks!
I enjoyed watching your video!! I want to plant sweet potatoes next year but my problem is deers. They eat any and everything and I'm thinking they'll eat my vines. I'll have to do more research on that. Thanks for sharing!!
You're very welcome. 😊💕
Well done, nice harvest.
Thank you kindly
Wow, Great harvest ❤😊
So nice of you
The small ones are good also
They taste just as good!😊
A beautiful bounty! New subscriber.
Thanks for the sub!
You did a thing there with those sweet potatoes. I just subscribed and I'm looking forward to gardening with you. As always I'll see you in the garden🤗
Thanks for subbing, and welcome to my channel. 😊💕💕
I am a new subscriber, thank you for sharing,
Thanks for subbing and welcome to Kim's Kozy Korner!!!!
Kim, the frost may kill the vines, but your sweet potatoes should be okay. As long as it isn't a frost over multiple days or a freeze. Root crops can handle it.
Thanks for the tip!
Very nice harvest 💜
Thank you kindly
I loved your video! Beautiful harvest. I’m a new subscriber 🙌🏽
Thanks, and welcome! 😊
Its like Christmas, lol!
Potato harvest never get old.
Awesome
Thank you 😊
What an amazing harvest.. thanks for sharing..new subscriber here.
Thanks for the sub, and welcome to my channel 😀
I missed the planting
Me too😢
Dont discount those small potatoes. After rhey cure, you can slice rhem thin, and slice them up and saute them with a lilttle butter, add a little brown sugar & a touch of cinnamon, and have fried candied yams. Mmm, mmm. So sweet and tender.
That's exactly what I do with the small potatoes. They make delicious yams. Yummy 😋
@@HangingwithKim Yes. Mmm. Your making me miss the family home in the mountains of TN now. Those are sure some good looking sweet potatoes. 😁👍❤
What soils or stuff do you put in your grow bag ? And how deep do you plant your slips? Thanks jim80
Hi! I use small sticks and limbs in the bottom. Then, I add a thick layer of leaf mulch with only about 12 inches of potting mix on top. This year, I placed my plants down on the sides and only kept the top few inches above ground. I buried them about 4 inches deep, I believe.
Pleasw mw your potatoes leaves 🍃 i grow them fir leaves. How can i keep my slips for nwct season.. i have a short how to cook sweet potatoes leaves.. 😢😢😢😢great harvest
I will do a new video for next year on how I grew my slips. Thanks for the tip. I will have to try cooking the leaves one day. Thanks for watching! 💕😊💕
I have 2 30lb bags, I put too many slips they came out skinny. Next year I’ll know better !
I keep learning better methods that have given me better harvest every year. Thanks for watching!
❤❤❤
Subbed ❤
Thanks! 😁😁
❤
How long did you leave your sweet potatoes in the pot for?? I've got mine in a large bucket!! Going good!! Only two months now!! But yeah I never know when too harvest sweet potatoes!!
I left mine in the grow bag for just over 120 days.
Mine were skinny like that little one lol
Thanks for watching. Keep trying, I'm sure you will have a better harvest next time. 😊
What size grow bag is that?
How deep did you plant your slips?
Did you buy your dirt or compost?
I use 100 and 25 gallon grow bags. I lay my slips down on their sides only leaving about 4 inches out. I plant the rest about 2-4 inches deep.
@@HangingwithKim thank you for your time and wisdom
Please how long it take to grow potato please
Sweet potatoes about 120 days
Where can I buy one of those black bags?
Here's a link for you.
amzn.to/4bUD3aG
can you eat the greens?
I hear that the leaves are eatable, but I've never tried it.
I was told you cook them like spinach.
Can i cure in a green house
I believe so. If you have warmer temperatures, it should be fine.
R those yam ?
Technically, no. They are Beauregard and Covington sweet potatoes.
Great harvest
Thank you!😊
