Here on the Texas coast I make a few styles of dropper rigs, use 80lb mono as the main line, and use aluminium crimps, have never had a damaged line from crimping. Having trouble finding the clips, bait keepers and weights Y'all use around here locally. I agree with smaller hooks, I use #4 to #1/0 circle hooks mostly and catch a wide variety of species, some over 20lbs. If you think about it, there are a lot more smaller fish than big ones, so why not fill in your time with the small ones waiting for the bigguns to hit.
Have been thinking about tying the hooks to the main line with PVA cord / tape instead.
I ordered the 2 hook dropper rigs from tony a few weeks ago have had very good results with them. Just ordered the 3 hook droppers aswell, the way they clip down and become streamlined is awesome and they are all made to perfection! Get in his website and check out the rigs, you will find them under sea match
+Hopo1984 are you in the US? I was curious to know if they ship to the US.

so am i right in saying i should tie a swivel and a clip on the end of my shockleader so i can clip rigs on quick and easy?

Yes. It lies on the seabed. Cast from the shore.
Would this or the 2 flapper catch a cod ?
Depends on size of fish.Off the shore I would be happy to see ANY Cod !! I would have confidence with fish up to about 6lbs,if the hooks are strong wire.Anything above that use bigger hooks.
