  • The United Kingdom is the first European country to record more than 100,000 deaths linked to the pandemic.
    According to the University of Oxford the UK has one of the highest Covid death rates anywhere in the world.
    The prime minister Boris Johnson, whose handling of the pandemic has been heavily criticised by some people, said he was “deeply sorry for every life lost” and took “full responsibility for everything that the government has done”.
    Almost 250,000 people have been admitted to hospital with Covid since the start of the pandemic.
    Professor Chris Whitty, the UK's chief medical adviser, said there would be many more deaths in the coming weeks.
    Huw Edwards presents BBC News at Ten reporting by health correspondent Catherine Burns, political editor Laura Kuenssberg, and health editor Hugh Pym.

      What they dont tell you is the UK is one the most densly populated countries in the world and it has a perfect climate for flu bugs through winter. So in truth it has very likely burnt through alot more of the population in the UK than most countries so saying highest death rate in the world is very likely inaccurate.

    • @TheZackkary1
      @TheZackkary1 3 роки тому

      @@honeybadger9425 and the figure “100,000” is total BS.
      From the ONS website: between 1 Jan 2020 and 31 Aug 2020, just 400 people died of flu. Normally this figure, for the same period, would be around 14,000. Think about that; either the overwhelming majority of flu deaths were recorded as Covid deaths, or we pretty much cured flu last year (a virus that has been around since time immemorial). Either way, I think that’s headline news (I joke of course, we have not cured flu). However, no one is reporting on it because it would take away Covid’s lethality. They’ve not published 2020’s dementia stats yet, which typically kills 300 per day in the UK, but I wouldn’t be surprised to find a similar pattern; that many of these deaths have been recorded as Being caused by COVID. Why the people in power treat us like children by exaggerating the dangers is beyond me... it spreads mistrust. I don’t watch the news or listen to the government any more, and it’s their fault

      The hospitals are becoming overwhelmed with people who are only surviving due to being treated in ICUs. These figures absolutely don't include suicides. If the hospitals are full then the death rate from this disease will go up because there won't be enough resources to keep people from dying. It's not a case that you either die or you're fine. There's a lot of people suffering and they're not all elderly, young, previously healthy adults are struggling to breathe on ventilators. In the beginning of 2020 every county was asked for the following things.
    a] preparedness - we had none - we did not have enough negative pressured rooms to contain the disease and this meant hospitals became epicentres for spreading the virus
    We also did not have enough PPE and many of our medical staff died.
    b] strong leadership - we had none - this meant it was like the blind leading the blind
    as a result we had crazy things said - go to work to help up the economy; eat out to help out - to help out to spread the virus; go on holiday and new virus strains were brought into this country
    c] opening schools - thousands of pupils mixed with one another and spread the virus, and these infected children brought home the virus and gave it to their parents and grandparents
    d] mix together during Christmas - and many people landed in hospitals because of this
    The government is still not wanting to quarantine travellers - why? Why are these travellers not quarantined in hotels? AND the government is reducing the number of days of quarantine and other countries have now increase the number of days of quarantine.
    People are released into the community without being tested.

    This time last year, the BBC was more concerned with "racism towards Chinese people" and making sure the borders were kept open - because we shouldn't be xenophobic - so I don't think the BBC is in any position to preach.

    1000s of people haved died from covid 19 and I have to admit it really hit me that not a lot of people survived from the illness and unfortunately when I go to bed, I have terrible and horrifying nightmares ever since the pandemic happened and it makes sick to my stomach!!! This is so upsetting to watch! A lot of people have called victim to covid and sadly a thousands and hundreds of people lost their lives from covid, and now me and the rest of my family are fighting for our lives to stay alive and stay calm, but please accept my sincere condolences to those who lost their closest friends and colleagues who died and always remember, you are not alone! We the people are always going to have your back, whatver it takes!

      @Green sus. My country's economy has recovered according to most economic reports. Because our government installed "draconian" measures which means we lead normal lives instead of watching our body count tick up

    • @geckohecko
      @geckohecko 3 роки тому +1

      @Green not reporting a death toll isn't the same as a low death toll. Sweden isn't doing well.
      But I get you. Incompetence is one thing, being stubborn enough to ignore the facts is another. It's like the UK figured it wouldn't be bad enough if it were just another SARS - been there, done that. They could suffer a thousand deaths. But then this ended up much, much worse

    Every #Covidiot who denies the impact of the pandemic should be made watch the video. Heartbreaking stuff.
    The UK shut down much later than every other Western European country (bar Sweden), and opened up too soon. 100,000 deaths is shameful.

    Johnson and his government disgust me. He has handled this appallingly. I live in Aus and before this we lived in NZ. Thank God our governments have taken this seriously and acted. A friend in the US has just come out of ICU she nearly died. Another was sick in April 2020 in the UK, wasn't in hospital, and still cannot breath properly. This is no joke. I have never seen anything like this in over 30 years in the health sector.
