As much as I love the first movie, I think this one was just as good if not slightly better! I was impressed! The suspense in these movies is crazy, and they have some of the best jump scares I've ever seen!
Most horror franchises never needed sequels but let's be honest, we the horror community love them. Even if it's the same premise done slightly varied and with different people we just want some good kills and scares. They could make 8 Smiles and I would see them all. I watched 5 Final Destination and 7 Wrong Turn films with the same premise.haha 😀
in regards to runtime: i dont thing the issue is per se with a longer runtime or with horror specifically. at least not for me personally. the issue is with BLOAT. i have seen e.g. the ultimate cut of watchmen like 10 times, because it has enough to say to fill that runtime and more easily. that is in stark contrast to a lot of recent film releases where they had barely enough ideas to fill a 20 minute horror anthology tv series episode and then stretch it to over 2 hours.
Been looking forward to this. The first one I thought was fine, sort of basic and skeletal concept-wise, but the sequel looks like the concept has been more fully realized. This one seems much more interesting to me.
That was my hope going into the film as well. As it turned out, though, it doesn't build on the concept of the first film in any way. The story is every bit as barebones as the original, only stretched to cover the bloated runtime.
in regards to smile 2, i skipped that one as the first one already was wayy too flawed for me. completely over the place. SPOILERS: ironically i had already brought up the thought of "what happens if i off myself on screen or in public" in regards to the first film. funny that they "picked that up" for the second film. some of my many many issues though: 1. what if someone simply offs themselves to stop the entity? 2. they had 28 recorded cases all connected to each other, but the cops just dont do anything? i could go on.
I really, really liked the first movie. I almost did not see it because I HATED the trailer. I thought it was going to be just trash. But was able to see it for free (free is always good haha) and I thoroughly was creeped out by it and loved it. The end still saddens and bothers me. At first I didn't think a sequel was necessary, but I did actually think the trailer was much better in this one. I am looking forward to it! Thanks for this and all of your reviews!
Oh my god that is the most random and amazing shirt. I forgot all about that movie until I saw that shirt. I watched it incessantly as a kid. That was the movie that introduced me to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
At least they didn't take a shyt on this like they did on Joker 2👎 Checkout the new series in Peacock by James Van Teacup is really Good, watched it over the week-end couple of Episodes , liked it alot compare to that shytty rated drama bubble gum Caddo Lake & Salem's lot couldn't even finish it!
What about someone like me who thought the first was okay and decent enough but wanted more? I gave the first a 6 out of 10 loved the concept just thought it didnt deliver enough for me and im so on the fence on seeing this in the theater
From the trailer I saw it looks like they just did way too much, the first one was simple and freaky but this new one looks so chaotic and silly. I liked the first movie other than the ending got a little ridiculous for me, first half had me on the edge of my seat.
It's called PACING. I have seen 80 minute movies that felt 7 hours long and some movies over 2 hours that were easy to watch. It isn't the shorter times - it is just that longer films often meander and are often unable to sustain tension and strength. Horror or not.
Personally with horror or comedy I absolutely want an active crowd. It is meant to be a communal experience and people who want a room full of church mice are out of their minds. That doesn't mean I want people talking through the movie but laughing, jumping, gasping, things of this nature are a large part of what makes leaving your house and going to a theater worth while IMO.
I dunno, am I the only one who hated the first one? the most normie basic horror with a LOT of hype. I was actually offended by it. lol each to their own I suppose.
Miley Cyrus was great in this. Jokes aside, Naomi Scott totally outperformed the rest of the movie. It was too long, relied almost completely on jump scares (with the exception of the apartment group chase scene), and the effects did not live up to the budget. It didn't recapture the magic of the first film to me.
I’m excited. I really loved the first film and the trailer for the second looked great. Great direction. It just makes sense considering this is like a virus of sorts that spreads from person to person. I’m kind of thinking of going to a fan watch, but I’ve never been to one. So, I don’t know. I know when the first one came out some popular movie reviewer made a how to beat it video, but for the life of me I can’t remember their name. Their whole channel is about beating monsters in movies and shows. Maybe the channel name is literally, “HowToBeat”. But, yeah… I agree it does feel like an unbeatable force. It’s just utter disparity. That’s why I really enjoyed the first film.

I agree this is probably better
You're 100% correct. The audience/theater energy and reaction definitely means something.
Yes ❤️

I agree haha
Great to hear you got invited to a screening. You've been doing this for years now and your channel deserves to move up the ranks. 😊

There’s going to be a Smile 3!
Been looking forward to this. The first one I thought was fine, sort of basic and skeletal concept-wise, but the sequel looks like the concept has been more fully realized. This one seems much more interesting to me.

Yes! This was my number one most anticipated film of the year and I loved it!
I was a little bit disappointed with this one predictable! Nice Halloween 3 shirt Kalie! I was planning on getting that one too from Fright-Rags!
I cannot wait to hear your review 😃🙂🙃😊
That Opening was wild
Great opening
in regards to smile 2, i skipped that one as the first one already was wayy too flawed for me. completely over the place.
SPOILERS:

i could go on.
Loved it! One of the best performances of the year!
Rubbing my hands together
I was looking forward to this after enjoying your review of the first one. Glad to hear you found this to be a worthy sequel.
I thought this was pretty fun sequel. The entity still feels unbeatable. Which is a plus imo.
It is definitely more unbeatable in this one
Really enjoyed this one. It was entertaining psychologically for sure!
I absolutely loved the first one and this one was awesome as well Naomi Scott was amazing in it love the summer school shirt dude ,👍
Thank you
Just saw it and loved it. The first one I liked but felt slow, but this just cranked it up to 💯
1st one was great can't wait for part 2

This sequel very much justifies itself
I walked out of the theater and decided I liked Smile (1) more than Smile 2. Bigger budget doesn’t always equal better film.
I loved the first movie, so I’m really looking forward to Smile 2. Based on your review, I’m sure I’ll feel the same way as I did with the first.
Fun fact. In Japan you have to stay for the credits because it's polite. But here in Korea we don't have to
Haha
I've never seen part one, but this was a damn good film! Naomi Scott is electrifying. And those fucking jumpscares! Ugh.
You gotta watch 1!
Oh my god that is the most random and amazing shirt. I forgot all about that movie until I saw that shirt. I watched it incessantly as a kid. That was the movie that introduced me to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
It’s the best
At least they didn't take a shyt on this like they did on Joker 2👎

Watching teacup. Really enjoyed it so far
What about someone like me who thought the first was okay and decent enough but wanted more? I gave the first a 6 out of 10 loved the concept just thought it didnt deliver enough for me and im so on the fence on seeing this in the theater
Braden Timmons (who I saw it with) was meh on the first and loved this one
Love you 2
Love this channel
❤ty for the review
❤️❤️❤️

It didn’t feel that way at all to me
I just missed the live. Dang.
It wasn’t live live. It was just a premiere
I cant wait to see this, im not watching the trailer, especially since the first trailer spoiled the best jump scare in the first one.
I avoided the main trailer for this. Only watched the teaser
That summerschool shirt is amazing
😈
Dope Summer School Shirt!!
Smile is excellent 😊 i am so excited to see 2 in 4dx Saturday 😊😊😊
Yes!
I definitely don’t get horror fans wanting shorter run times. I’m usually wishing most movies were longer because I want more of it. 😂
If it is great? Then absolutely

Don't have high hopes for this one. Looks mad corporate. Also looks like it'll OD on jump scares. I'ma wait till streaming.
Hope you enjoy it
Well actually it's Wednesday night for me so LOL

Absolutely.
So she killed herself on stage in front of everyone right
Find out for yourself tomorrow
I dunno, am I the only one who hated the first one? the most normie basic horror with a LOT of hype. I was actually offended by it. lol
each to their own I suppose.
It is a basic premise but I love the performances and style

She is definitely great, we can agree on that
The movie was awful. Slow. Boring. Dull. What a waste of my time and 💰
Sorry you didn’t like it

I made a hoe to beat the smile demon video
