- I utterly LOVE Final Fantasy VII Remake, but there were definitely some things that i wasn't feeling. Let's talk about those things, yeah?

Digi: Too many belts
Tetsuya (purposefully over designs out of spite) Nomira: Oh? More belts???
The belts dont bother me
Funny, I actually LOVED the NPC background noise, as it meant I didn’t have to waste time speaking individually to NPCs for the chance of hearing something important until they repeated itself, plus it made things realistic. I do agree that a volume sliders for those who don’t would have been appreciated.
backtothefuture1066 in the remake, they say nothing important at all, which is just fine; I can pay attention or ignore as I well please; it’s all ambiance and atmosphere. In the original, however, you feel compelled to speak to all NPCs in case they have anything important to say or give you.
I hated how they cenored the blood and story events too. The remake feels too rushed and inflated at the same time. They censored deaths too. You can tell the designers got attached to JESSIE lol. If Biggs and Wedge are alive, then you know she will be!
@Aaron Hussey Ehh....I don't know. I guess I just wanted the darker experience of the original again. But in updated graphics. Biggs was pretty cool, but I don't give a fuck about Wedge and I think they forced Jessie on us way too hard. You can tell the developers thought she was too cute to kill. They'll probably do the same with Aerith. I guess I just don't like the storychanges. I feel like they're unnecesary and ruin the experience.
All and all, I liked AVALANCHE well enough. Biggs is cool, Wedge is a good dude (I just don't care for him) and Jessie was fun. But it would have been better if they were actually playable in Combat with unique weapons and skills. Leaving them alive diminishes Shinra's evil.
@Aaron Hussey Yeah, Square shoulda just made it Rated M if they had too. I mean, most of us who played it as kids are adults now anyway. An M-Rated Final Fantasy game would be pretty rad. But I understand why they played it safe too.
1:53 I think that’s the point of the shades it’s to give him a tough look but when their off you notices he’s a big softy I acutely loved the Shades and they took them off and on at the right times
One could say these are the things that cause Digi..........
Strife
Oh lord! You just went there!
Why am I the only one who cares the fuckin' Sephiroth reveal was all sorts of fucked up.
Like, I get we've met the guy already. But getting captured by the Turks, being imprisoned, and then waking up to just a huge *massacre* and blood trails was so... Iconic. It's what I remember visually about the original the most.
Now there's a goop trail and no blood when doods get fucked up. They gotta bring that back. It doesn't happen a lot, but when it does, ah dust and goop just don't do it. It's too innate to bein' human to bleed.
finally someone who felt the same way about the music when the plate drops! It doesn't fit the scene ....
This Remake should have been an actual Remake with less changes on the story.
Nah
Agreed with Geo G. They should have made it dark, original combat system, and uncensored blood and deaths. This remake feels like a Kidz Bop version.
甲斐 I agree with you
Opinions are like assholes
Suprise you didn't mention AERITH taking her SWEET TIME (xD) when the plate was falling! Omg that shit made my BLOOD BOIL hahaha. Like we get it! She's a nice person, but she didn't need to sit there and talk to that kid then proceed to carry and WALK them back to their parent! (And it wasn't even Marlene!)
I feel the "safe house" feature is something that we may get in the future during the journey across Gaia with vehicles. That concept can be easily implemented with it as the inside could have all your party members chilling out and having dialogue that could hint towards secrets, legends or even the story itself. All whilst having everything you asked for along with it.
Those 3 specific harbingers with the gun, sword and gloves are supposed to be Loz Yazoo and Kadaj, to represent how the future needs to flow into advent children and dirge of cerberus, they even have the same animations as the movies and form into bahamut like how they tried to summon him in advent children, so those arent as abstract as the others
My 2 major nitpicks are that we didn't get to fight Roche again, and that we couldn't play as Red XIII. Obviously we'll see both of these things in the next game, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed.
Very unpopular opinion: This battle system is bad... or at the least - brazenly incomplete. It is stuck in limbo deciding whether it is action or turn, while creating unnecessary disadvantages from both. My biggest issue is the dodge function. I've heard many times about what 'dodging' is and is not for, but even Crisis Core did not have this problem. And that's almost 15 years old stuck on a PSP. It intrigues me when people write this game off as a hack and slash because I don't think it can function as one.
-I feel Barret's glasses making him harder to read IS the point, he's very deliberately not letting Cloud be able to read him as anything but the Leader
- honestly, I didn't mind Chadley the Robot-boy as much, but yeah I can kinda see why people wouldn't like him
-yeah I can agree with the last ranty points, the Ghost horse fight should probably have happened AFTER the plate drop, like "oh yeah the Train Graveyard is still full of angry ghosts & now they're getting reinforcements so maybe we should do something about that" & that would also make Tifa's bewilderment over the sparkle make more sense because at least they're at peace
-& yeah the Arbiter of Fate looks too much like a Heartless
You’re wrong on the shades, Barrett’s eyes show a softness to him, which counteracts the tough and gruff persona he puts on. The shades hide his true feelings
Interesting take
I agree, I expected to be able to see at least half of Midgar but we still only see 2 to 3 sectors out of the 8. To be honest I would have structured the whole game very differently. I also had a lot of issues with the quest markers.
I agree with the Wedge scene. I love the guy but if he shows up alive and well because of Jessie's cooking or whatever I'm just gonna assume he's immortal
One thing I love about this remake is that they cut out the part in Shinra tower where our party gets arrested by Tseng and Rude... I mean really. How are those two even a threat?
Rude is crushing on Tifa so he'd never risk hurting her and between the remaining four
Trigger-happy Barret should be filling one of them full of holes
Red should be eating whichever one of them Barret isn't shooting
Aerith and Cloud... do I even need to say anything? I'm sure you can come up with a few ideas
Whole video hit a lot of good points on the mark. Also hated that Eligor fight for throwing off the pace, also hated Wedge's last scene, and the final trailer spoiled much for me. That said, I forgave Square a little too much at first because I convinced myself that they were testing the waters since it's the first part of the remake. But that's something I think the developers will take into account, considering the multiple surveys and feedback the company has asked about the game.
Another thing that bugged me about Eligor is how you have to steal one of Aeriths weapons from it. By that point you haven't even gotten steal materia yet so its a mandatory redo once you finish the game. If I recall correctly you get steal much earlier in the original game which makes it more annoying to me that its setup this way. For that matter you also get the Enemy Skill materia much later now so both of these things being moved to the end of the game feels like its just to make replays different but it also means its not possible to 100% in your first playthrough.
@Aaron Hussey I don't think you can buy Aeriths Bladed Staff anywhere in the game. Everywhere Ive read online lists stealing from Eligor as the only method to obtain.
I love the video brotha keep it up Pimp. I’m aware the og FFVII is tied with NiGHTS as your number 1 game due to their impact on you, i’m sure we would all love to see a video on how NiGHTS impacted your life in the same style as your FFVII documentary. Again, love your shit man
Your totally right about their trailers feel bad for anyone who watch them. It’s like they might as well said don’t buy our game just watch it on UA-cam
Do you think they should've had elegor (sorry if I spelled it's name wrong, my bad) as sort of epilogue side story sort of thing or something?
FF7R's dialogue treatment is basically an auditory processing disorder simulator, huh. ...Like I'm not even joking, that's how it feels for me trying to focus on a convo with someone I want to talk to while out and about and I can't help but hear freaking Everyone Else In the Area with no ability to tune it out :T ...Cloud has APD now, it's canon /j
agreed on the wedge stuff too lmao
I didn't mind the padding sections in chapter 6 because the music was great, combat was fun, and there was areas to explore (materias, summon). I do agree the story was a bit cringe at times especially with Wedge and Sephiroth. Also the map could of been better looking and we could of had more new areas with better side quests. Still an amazing game.
I'm over thirty years old now and just seeing that plate fall on Sector 7 and hearing the screams of the terrified victims still gets me choked up. Fuck that weak-ass music.
What are your thoughts on the new Yuni Naka game, Balan Wonderland?
Yea no i had to play this game i would mute the muisc if i had to go back there at 15:00 . also that scene with cloud and don coreno was pretty lame with cloud just sitting there compared to the original
That only half of the game is in the remake.
I like that there's a possibility they might change the ending tho
Out of curiosity, DiGi, did you complete Chadley’s virtual missions and learn who/what he really is? Because I think what Square did do with him is far more interesting to the lore of the world as a whole than the suggestion of another Avalanche infiltrator.
It sounds like he did finish that idk lol
I agree about Chadly and Wedge. I didn't like Chadly and I felt Wedge's death was handled better the first time.
I had the same problem with the maps could have been better
Nice one, agree to most of your point here
I hated how this relied too much on slowly walking and crawling through tight corridors and hallways.
I also didn’t care for the npcs or side missions, they really dragged the game down.
nothing but excelent points
I like the combat that's all
I can’t wait I hope they have a FF7 remake 2 ps5 addition
The fact that the NPC audio didn't automatically drip when you were talking to party members it was odd.
Ice magic needs fixes too. The 1st impact of ice does not stop enemy long enough or not at all for the secondary slow explosion to finally damage it. Especially the ones that were supposed to be weak to ice.
I think there is some sort of stereotype in Japan with giving shades to black guys to make them look cooler, I've seen so many of these type of character in anime
Unpopular Opinion:
But I don't think they should have changed the Combat System. It took away Materia Strategy to an extent. They should have made it like the Ps1's + FFX's. A mix between those two.
I don't mind it. The old materia system as deep as it was, was also very broken. I would have not minded turn based as Dragon Quest does it..but two different beasts
Tend to agree DiGi, not on all cases but most. good stuff.
I'm guessing barrets shades were there specifically to keep is from seeing past his exterior early on
Hey! That Wall Market music is a bop!
I'm glad the NPCs ll talked and that everything was voiced, my wife can't read and could play the entire game without needing a back up program to read the text for her.
@BAM BAM she had a tumour that was removed so her central comunication center got impared.
What ‘bout, how they did ma boy Nanaki dirty?
Plate drop music was very upbeat and out of place. Yes! I feel like it was toning it down on purpose so it doesn't feel as tragic cuz its a T rated game? I can't think of another reason.
i found the remake changes much better.
He likes it, get him!
Also
He hates it, get him!
are you going to make a video about balan?
Hes alive
6:15 it’s called 7th hea.... oh wait it got 9/11ed
I love this game but the air combat sucks
I rarely play this game it’s not that great
Before I watch this video, I want to share quick nitpick, and my only one:
That dance sequence where Cloud is onstage dancing with Andrea and Andrea's crew...Cloud is far to confused with who he is, too serious, and too awkward to somehow break into dance with people he doesn't know and he certainly wouldn't be that damn coordinated/enthused about it. Major characterization misstep. A very fun sequence, but...that's not Cloud. Especially Disk 1 Cloud.
