How to build DIY internal filter

- In this video I go through how I build an internal filter out of Acrylic.
I used 4.5mm acrylic for the black and 6mm for the clear. (Only reason for 6mm for the clear is that it was the only thickness I had that was clear, otherwise I would have used 4.5mm)
Really like your genius idea, double filtration up/down. Never seen that before. A+
Thanks for the Video. This type of filter is having some disadvantages.
1- it sucks the water and return it back from the top of the aquarium which means that it will not collect the wast from the bottom of the aquarium. What I suggest is you increase the intake holes to max top to max bottom.
2- the surface where beneficial bacteria lives on, is relatively small.
3- cleaning the filter is going to be a hard work.
Hi Ahmed, some good points. Depends on how large you make the filter and if you do regular water changes. regular water changes will remove waste from the bottom. With the floss at the top, cleaning the filter is not a issue as you just replacing the floss and may only require removal of filter and media every 6 months.

Loved this video
Cheers, thanks Xavier
Great video.
What is the reason for floss before coarse?
(Instead of going coarse, medium, floss and then bio)
Hi, depending on the design and where the water flows into the filter, I decide on the floss location. In the case of this build, I wanted the floss to remove any debris and be close to the top for easy replacement.
Nice!
Thanks mate.
How do you cut your acrylic so clean?
Hi, I am using a CNC router.
Where do you get the glue from?
Hi Gavin, I normally buy from www.nerangplastics.com/?gclid=CjwKCAjw8cCGBhB6EiwAgORey3RAiKH6h6nGkBGEvwo5Syg60Fmfvg_QVFhEUsT4UZthqeOI9TFJxBoCl5AQAvD_BwE when I go get acrylic. They don't seem to have it on their site. These guys have it online. plasticwarehouse.com.au/product/acrifix-acrylic-adhesive-plastic-glue-100-gm/
