    Cdl. Burke talks about why Joe Biden being allowed to receive communion undercuts the work of the Eucharistic Congress. Matt Fradd asks how the laity can be expected to take the Eucharist seriously if the Episcopacy doesn't seem to be practicing what they preach.

      Denying a sinner communion is totally wrong. If communion brings us closer to Christ and decreases our hunger for sin, then why deny a sinner the chance for Chist's body to convert him?

    • @Ashurbanipal7446
      @Ashurbanipal7446 3 дні тому +29

      @@kingsleynwofe1244 You are missing the point. No one wants to deny sinners the opportunity to receive communion. What we want is to deny unrepentant sinners communion because they would be eating and drinking their own condemnation. This argument you have devalues every other sacrament. If I can take holy communion no matter what then there is zero reason to be baptized, to confess, to marry, or to even be confirmed. Heck, why even be a catholic? There are standards and we have to follow and respect them. If you want to receive communion you must prepare yourself for it, that means being in the right state of mind, body, and soul.

    I grew up southern Baptist, and converted 7 years ago. The Baptist group my dad grew up in, had strict rules for the Lord's Supper, because they took Christ at his word regarding "this is my body. " If you weren't a member if that church, you wouldn't be there when they held the communion. If the pastor knew you had a grudge with someone, he would deny you. If you were in any way not ready, you would be denied.

      We need our bishops to pull their heads out of the sand and to take a stand for Christ. In the classroom, one of the things I teach the students is life is full of choices and choices have consequences. For far too long, they have let the political class, the modernist “catholic” and the enemies of the faith force the church into silence. We may very well lose our tax exempt status (I doubt it because of how much we do to feed, clothe and care for all and this will backfire on this class). The time to stand is now.
      The church has, till now, failed in teaching the faith to the flock and look at the results. Christ’s Sacred Heart, coupled with the Immaculate Heart of Mary, will provide. It is time to rally the faithful and with God’s almighty grace people will return to the faith of Christ and His Church. We may also need to reform the Norvus Ordo Mass, apparently we have not been told the entire truth. In watching Pints with Aquinas there apparently is a Missal that presents a form of the Norvus Ordo that is far more inline with the faith. Just my two cents. God’s speed to all

    • @GamingxKnight
      @GamingxKnight 3 дні тому +6

      The Church teaches that those who are in the public view have a different duty to faith to express the faith more clearly. Not perfectly as we are not perfect, but to profess the faith. Since he is a politician, the President, he is in a powerful position to influence others thus he has a more difficult duty of faith to publicly proclaim it. Should his views oppose the Church's teaches then that is where it becomes a problem. If he claims to be a Catholic while in such a public position, it is his responsibility to uphold the truth of Christ's teachings regardless of what it does to his poll numbers. He has compromised his faith for political power. Over a decade ago he was one of the few democrats who actually opposed abortion and he said he opposed it because of his faith. You can follow his career and see how he slowly gave into abortion, turning it from 'it's murdering babies' to 'it's a woman's right' in order to rise in the poll numbers. Mainly when he first tried to run for President decades ago. 2020 was his fourth time running for President.

      @@user-vc6py9wi6p They do. The reason public figures are held to a different standard is because they hold a public position to influence countless others. I, myself, am not a public figure, thus if I held positions that went against the Catholic Church I wouldn't be affecting many with my opposing views. However, people in public offices such as Biden not only have influence over Americans, but the world as he is a worldly figure. Thus if he claims to be Catholic, yet holds opposing views to the Church, he could possibly lead those who are not well learned in the faith to believe that advocating for abortion, homosexuality and transgenderism is okay for a Catholic to do when the opposite is true. I've personally seen the influence he's had on those kind of members of the Church, saying that the President is Catholic yet he advocates for those so it must be okay despite the Church teaching they aren't. That's why they are held to that standard.

      That Biden supports abortion is not just some thing the media says about him. You can’t just secretly, fearfully hide your real opinions away while publicly supporting and signing policies with consequence. Cope harder.

      While both policies can be harmful, there is a difference between a policy that MAY cause death and one that advocates for it. Supporting abortion has a direct correlation to MILLIONS of babies being aborted every year. The two are not even close to comparable.

      1. I’m sure he could not care less what you think
      2. Do you go around telling people in the street that you don’t like their clothes and they look old? Or is it just when you’re behind a screen that you’re brave enough?

      It's appropriate that he present himself as maturely and respectfully as possible in this context. I want to see more people dressing up when the time is right.

    I frequently thank my Lutheran friends for the establishment of Protestantism, so that I can attend my non-denominational Christian Church. Otherwise, I would be “stuck” with the Catholic Church. If our pastors go astray from Holy Scripture, we as church members can easily discharge them from their duties…try firing a wayward Pope! 😉

      The problem is that without any sort of institution or structure the "duties" of your pastor are just whatever you deem them to be. There are some very important theological and scriptural questions that need to be answered and "non denominational" churches always tend to just glance over them.
      Comparing a non denomination church to the Catholic Chuch is like comparing the PGA to a weekend minigolf group. There are millenia of theological and institutional developments that non denominational churches are simply absent from.

      To my point…Check your history. The Catholic community couldn’t even fire the grossly immoral Pope Alexander 6th. So much for your years of continuity. Faithfully following the Word of God is clearly more important than simply following an institutional tradition. Wishing you God’s blessings…

      @@johnbrown4568 And who would decide to "fire" the Pope, I would ask? Should we allow the college of Cardinals to simply remove the sitting Vicar of Christ because 51% of them do not personally "agree" with him? The Church is not a democracy, and Supreme Pontiff is not a "job." Of course you are going to get wicked and spiritually weak leaders every now and then in an institution that dates back two millenia. However, the stability of the wider institution is more important than the man beind the mitre. It is better to suffer through a few decades of poor leadership than to violate the sanctity of the position of Pope and allow genuinely good Popes to be removed from their position due to Church politics.
