As a Paleoartist, seeing him make a Scientifically accurate dromaeosaur shaped big bird is so satisfying, he's getting so much better at making dinosaurs!!
I think the FUNNIEST thing about this is the final result and how Elmo's head is oriented. Think about it, he's running away from Big-Birdasaur and his eyes are ALWAYS looking at it chasing him and he can't see ahead of him. He could be running STRAIGHT in to a cliffside and not know it. And we know how muppet screaming works, that mouth will not be closing until he stops screaming which he won't do because he's being chased.
I feel like I'm very desensitized to the horror genre, but considering the fact that I cried at school every time he would show up on screen means that I would have to prepare to watch this video if it was made. Something always bothered me about him. He just looked so much older and demented than the other puppets. Especially his kid, who is of the same species, is a stark contrast to him. Absolutely disgusting 🫣
@jaidyn259 Haha, he does look like he was dragged out of a dark, long forgotten liminal space at the back of the Henson workshop and integrated amongst the brighter eyed, kid friendly puppets.
i love this cause this is something i could see sesame street doing, elmo is learning about evolution and prehistoric animals and a mad scientist with a time machine sends him back in time to meet big birds ancestors, cue a 5 second clip of elmo running screaming from this dinosaur and cut back to his looking disheveled like "elmo doesnt think big birds great great great aunt liked elmo"
Given Elmo being about 2 feet tall, between the scaling and skull shape, you've wound up uncannily close to a real animal called Austroraptor. Not sure how to feel about it.
It’s funny. Austroraptor happens to have an elongated snout, so if Sesame Street characters were brehistoric, big bird would be either a moa, or in this case an Austroraptor
This is genuinely one of my favorites of yours. I mean, I’m a sucker for anything dinosaur in the first place, but Big Bird as a dromeosaur truly tickles some giddy part of my brain that longs to force two childhood loves together into a horror scene. And Elmo’s floppy running is just delightful
One of my core memories is waking up as a really young child bawling my eyes out because I had a nightmare where I was stuck in a room that was super ominous and dark and big bird was playing the piano on the other side of the room and just staring at me. He was really dimly lit and it was absolutely terrifying and I still remember that nightmare and how I felt when I woke up. it just makes me laugh now but honestly, I think I would still wake up crying as an adult.
My brother used to have nightmares of big bird too. Though it was big bird teaching about democracy rather than playing piano. I dont know, it sounds silly to me but he was terrified of it.
11:16 Fun fact: according to current statistical estimates and evidence, the oldest grasses came into being not particularly long before the dinosaurs died!! The vast majority of the dinosaur era (and all time before then) was grassless
@@The_Vagabond1 I got curious about what they claimed and multiple sources back up the claim. The common modern grass is a flowering plant, so flowering plants had to evolve first. Before grass dominated, ferns held a similar niche.

@ the current theory is that dinosaurs like the various Rexes had downy feathers as babies and likely shed them more or less completely by the time they grew up. Maybe keeping some peach fuzz
Absolutely brilliant and terrifying! I'd love to see what you'd with Oscar the Grouch. Like, what if the reason he lives in a trash can is because the can IS he actual body. Or that he hides the bodies of his fellow cast members he's eaten in there. Something twisted like that!
I kind of like the idea of Oscar being some kind of crab, snail or turtle like entity that uses a literal garbage can as a shell. If that's the case, then there's no reason your second idea can't be incorporated into the first - if the trash can is part of his body, then it would stand to reason that the undigested remains of other cast members could accumulate in the shell-can and Oscar hides them under the actual refuse.
The voiceover on this is top tier, not to mention how amazing the sculpt is! There were many times that I was shocked that you got through the alliteration and rhythm so clearly.
I also just noticed that the way Elmo is positioned makes his eyes lock with big bird’s. it’s somehow funny and terrifying, you can see the fear in his eyes.
Another awesome sculpture adam! You should turn Cookie Monster into king kong and have him reenact the final scene on the empire state building, just instead of a damsel in distress, it's a cookie in distress, and have the biplanes be piloted by other sesame street characters!
Based on the anatomy, your Big Bird is most likely either a carnivorous ornithomimid or a carnivorous ovirraptor. Furthermore, based on the beaks anatomy, the combination of a curved end and long, narrow structure could imply piscivory, which could imply a lifestyle similar to Spinosaurus aegyptiacus, which usually fed on fish while also opportunistically hunting terrestrial fauna. Also, once again, I will leave the suggestion of making a modern paleontologically accurate T-rex fight the 1920s reconstruction of T-rex.
The slit pupils also suggest a nocturnal ambush predator lifestyle, as well as a smaller size as not only do they allow the eyes to more finely regulate light intake, they also help with depth perception of smaller, lower to the ground animals. I'd say that Big Birdomimus is about the size of a bobcat, which would be big enough to be intimidating and small enough to make havinh slit pupils advantageous.
Finally! Big Bird is biologically accurate! (Big Bird is supposed to be a prehistoric bird called a Moa, and Dinosaurs are technically related to birds.)
dinosaurs are absolutely related to birds bc birds are dinosaurs, their closest ancestors are dromaeosaurids (like what adam based his big bird off) and troodontids, so it is as fun as it is true that a chicken is more related to a velociraptor than it is to a T. rex (like what ive seen everwhere)
This is such a funny looking sculpture, Elmo’s run is my favorite part. I also like how if big bird has slightly bigger wings with lightning bolt shaped tips it would resemble a realistic looking Zaptos from Pokémon
As a paleontologist, Big Bird as dromaeosaurus is now my head cannon. The only let down is not getting to see Elmo re-imagined as Didelphodon or some other Mesozoic mammal.
This looks like one of those episodes they teach about dinosaurd and big bird says "hey, that's my great-great-great...-great grampa!" while elmo is running for his life.
these are always entertaining, and I have to say Adam's getting better at Dinosaurs every video... imagine there was a nature documentary about some of these fascinating creatures, narrated by either Morgan Freeman, or David Attenborough 'And here we see the dromaeosaur subspecies Avis Gigantus chasing down its prey. you notice it's a very fast species, and they have to be, because their prey-the little red fellow there, a sample of the species Muppitus Elmus- can reach speeds of up to twenty kilometers an hour.'
