To me, this is the quintessential Eurovision song. Yes, the lyrics are ridiculous, the melody simple and the stage show melodramatic - but the singer is very pretty to look at, and the song is INCREDIBLY catchy!

+Bart Staelens The lyrics may seem like stupid but there's an audience out there to whom it caters to. Technically he caught the attention of people interested in that perspective of the world and I'd like to see a person who hasn't believed in odd fairy tales in their love life when they were growing up. Furthermore, the song itself was catchy and the guy, in my humble opinion, is one of the best looking I've seen in ages which brings in another audience.
The end result means that overall it was a good performance, a good song and whether the lyrics are stupid or not they did work well enough to get him as high as it did. A song with better lyrics and as much oomph would've probably given him a first place but it's a would'a-could'a-should'a scenario which didn't happen and we may never know now. Either way I find it pointless to judge since the thoughts or feelings which we blindly tend to believe as humans are more often than not incorrect. Just because it strikes gold every once in a while doesn't mean we should go with the flow and lower our bullshit'o'meters - we should question everything we believe in because our sense of reality is subjective.

I still think this is a good performance, because the overall package is strong. He is singing and dancing at the same time which is always difficult to bring together in a good way, he is interacting with the camera very masterfully and delivers also a great show where you just have to look at, he is filling out the whole stage and has charisma, too. The song is catchy. These are a lot of plusses and it is also not a secret, that he is very good looking (which always helps) and I think clothing and haircut are also complete bull's eye. The weak part is lyrics and at first look the voice. At least I think lyrics resonate, because people who like him or people who see a young, talented guy want to make him popular, just as he sings here, so there is clearly an identification aspect in it. And because he manages so many things together, you can also excuse when he is not hitting all notes, he doesn't sing a calm ballad, so for me overall a good ESC entry.

On one of the rehearsals he got glass in his eye so that's why he's "scared", also, he was told to cover his eyes like that to prevent that from happening.

For me as a swede this was the funniest Eurovision year ever, even more so than the winning years, this song was like curing from a cold after all the failures we had experienced previous to this. Yes it was stupid as fuck, but it was stupid in the right way and extremely catchy with lots of attitude, we usually don't send songs like this. For once sweden was sort of...well...cool. Good memories :-)
