Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I see some informational writing for social studies. How do we get more ideas for that cross curricular application of writing skill in a content? Social Studies often gets embedded with RLA in Elementary grades. How can we simplify structures to write with us purpose?
Our curriculum coordinator wants us to use a graphic organizer that kids can draw on paper on their own because we're not actually allowed to give them one during state testing.
Most graphic organizers can be reproduced on paper during the test. The extra scaffolding and prompting on graphic organizers during your units is important for them to learn how to use the organizer and grow their skills, so they’re able to do it on the test!

There has been such a focus on reading that writing has been set to the side when they should go hand in hand
