There's one other game that I can think of that is famous for doing something similar: Metal Gears Rising: Revengeance. a 40 minutes boss fight (which means it's almost 5% of the game, it's pretty short) where the music is all about you, while you kick the last boss' ass. One of the top 3 best final boss of all time. All that to say, when the final boss team is your theme, you know you're a freagin badass.
@@fward Quite a few games do it tbh. Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon is one if you pay attention to musical themes, for example. They're dotted around, more common than you think. It's a trope that's in vogue right now.
Also, Sega has always been good at making people feel heroic against the final bosses. I mean both Golden Axe 1 & 2 have an amazing interplay between the evil force, and then the triumphant surge of the hero. For those who are curious, the exchanges are between Ash (us, male vocal) and the three PSO2 heroines (Matoi, Hitsugi and Harriet, female vocal) Specifically, First verse is Matoi (you show me the light) Second verse is Hitsugi (back on planet Earth) Third verse is Harriet (you set my soul free)
Well of you remember, the MC lost all of his memories and sense of self, and the purpose of the female characters part of the song is to return to (you) the sense of self and worth
1st time listening: "what is this? this sounds weird I don't like it" 3rd time: "hmm it sounds like a musical from D**ney, it's okay I think" many times later: "YOU'RE NOT ALONE, NO ONE CONTROLS OUR DESTINY"
I really love how, coincidentally, phantasy alight can also sound like can't you see our light and it's still fucking works. It's that one simple thing that makes me happy to know in that we have such creative people in this world.
I felt cringy when i first heard it back then but now it pretty good. there games ost which felt the same like xenoblade x black tar end up loving it hahahah
How did you get this version? The OST doesn't have the full version, it ends at a loop fadeout. The Whole New World section of the song is a different file, and it doesn't even have the lyrics with all the singers coming together, it's just instrumental.
I simply recorded it in-game, then edited it to get a more complete version. As for the endiing part (Whole New world), what you heard on the OST was probably what we get when doing the EQ, i posted this before we got the Emergency Quest for Primordial, the story version of the fight didn't have that instrumental file playing. But i also didn't have the transition part of the EQ too at that time, so i ended up using the version from the credits of the true ending, and just doing a clever placement to compensate the lack of transition :p
there's a difference from Urgent Quest on "The whole new world" ending, i used the one from the final credits, while the quest uses the very first version from EP1. Also there's not the transition to TWNW bit, as when i uploaded the music, the Urgent Quest itself wasn't out yet, i did the music with having only the story quest which doesn't have gomo+sodam fused part.
Imagine fighting the embodiment of universal entropy and you don't hear it's boss theme, it hears YOURS.

Don't all the biggest bosses in PSO end with a Triumphant Arks' theme?

I kneeeww it!!!!
But what if the character you make is female?
@@dlarenceparks2211 the default mc is male. so even if u make a female char, the canon mc will always be a male.
@@dlarenceparks2211 It become power of friendship like your magical girl anime.
i love the double vocals part
This song suits the battle arena. Fire & Ice, Lightning & Water, Wind & Earth, Light inside the Darkness
the irony of this song, which plays in a (presumably) single-player section of an MMO, saying "you are special to all the world" is not lost on me

This was me too. At first I didn't like it, now I can recite both parts perfectly in my head
that one last minute part give me the shiver
Ok i admit phantasy star online the boss fights is SO DAMM EPIC

still the greatest final boss theme in anything ever
i cry
Ok now I can't stop thinking that the last battle is just Disney musical
Dark To Light is the song name
This reminds me of a musical for some reason.
It's a musical

not this time proufound darkness
see you again in NGS!
we'll have a rematch
What happened to this amazing franchise is honestly just depressing
Really should have expanded on the original PSO2 instead of making NGS unfortunately

Is this the same version from the urgent quest? It sounds a little different but I could be wrong.
