I think swapping is awesome for 3 reasons: - lots of us, especially in EU or Asia don't really have the option to charge overnight. Spending 30+ minutes charging once every 3 or 4 days got really old when I had my e-Golf - spending less on a car with a 75Kwh battery, but having the option to temporarily upgrade it to a 150Kwh for a road trip, that's really useful. - the car will be more future proof, as "your" battery will not lose any health as you constantly swap and also, batteries with improved chemistry could be added by NIO over time. I bet many Tesla owners would love the ability to just switch to a 4680 pack with no costs whatsoever.
First of al, the 4680 Tesla is a different *CAR* Second, if "you" have a "75kWh" battery and like everyone else with that battery, you decide to swap up for the holiday period, that's going to REALLY upset all the drivers who paid up front for the bigger pack but can't find anything but a 75 kWh pack? You haven't thought it through.
@@rogerstarkey5390 How is that a different car with 4680? My gaming laptop is not really a different product after changing the original battery for a bigger one. Love to watch the battery swap in action but here in the US seems really unnecessary I love charging at home and not having to go out to a refueling station, I just got away from gas stations and not wanting to depend on a battery swap situation, my EV-6 charges plenty fast at EA. On road trips.
Charging fast is only one of the benefits of battery swap. For me I would also always charge at home, but having the possibility to uppgrade the battery would be more important for me. Like when I would need some heavy towing in the winter I would use the 150kwh battery, and during summer I would use the much cheaper 75kwh battery. You can change the battery size every month if you like.
@@waynelewis9110 That is ok as long as they provide a 30year warranty. Also battery swap does not need structural batteries because you are able to run a smaller pack and save weight in that way. Also battery swap stations balance the grid and give small cheap cars the opportunity to have as long range as cars worth twice as much😊

Really really kudos to NIO, this is how business is done. I'm sorry that Norway, as a rich country, has not started the production of its own brand of cars, I don't know why it's so difficult to market your own production of your new brand 🤷
They are just too small of a population to make any mainstream brand, especially given they don't have an automotive background. Their neighbors have an automotive background, but they were bought out in the end
Nio's battery-swapping will lose its allure as batteries get better, faster-charging. And its lifestyle pitch is unlikely to rein in Westerners. So I'd call Nio stock a sell NOW.
Yes, Kyle. You should expect the cars, facilities, and employees to collect and forward your data to others to examine, analyze, and exploit. Think of the NIO brand as a way to extract and make use of western countries' citizens' personal information. Kind of like Google, except it's a Chinese government effort rather than merely a particular company's effort.
I’m anxious to learn more about battery swapping, but don’t think it would work in USA. Why can’t Toyota, Honda, Nissan, and other Japanese brands build an EV as good as the Chinese? I would never buy a Chinese car which helps CCP government.
Chinese govt lifted hundreds of millions of people out of poverty. Chinese people overwhelmingly approve of their government. Don’t be fooled by US propaganda.
everything in your house is made in china, including computer or phone you are typing, not just finished product, but all parts and materials, so first thing you can do is smash your phone to stop help ccp
@@xinyiquan666 Correct, but I always try to buy non-CCP products even if it costs slightly more. High price items such as EVs, it’s battery, and motor is where I look for country of manufacture.
A bit of hide the headlight Hyundai and crown the roof line Polestar going on. Interior looked 80ish with well rounded (pillowy looking) features. As far as the country of origin, there’s way too much to talk about as I’m deluge every day with news coverage of hundreds of pounds of fentanyl being seized, and countless lives lost each day that are caused by this substance being produced over there. It’s like chemical warfare if you think about it. People like me get locked up over there for the things I do in this country with my freedom that are perfectly legal and based solely on my belief. We can’t sugarcoat it and it’s the essence of China’s governmental leadership that controls everyone. I wouldn’t open my laptop up in that building for anything, even if it was on my own hotspot. I don’t see cutting edge tech in the car but just duplicates of what’s already out there. It my EV only charged that fast, battery swapping could be tempting but main stream is more than twice as fast so it’s all in all a non-starter.
The whole business model and experience feels very Asian and Chinese. Not for me for what I want out of a car. But I'm going to be a bit nationalistic here, but no interest in supporting a Chinese automaker either. On a global level, it's going to be hard enough to compete in the coming decades, we have to get our shit together and play to our strengths.
They need to create a fire suppressor that can let's say put out the fire of those lithium polymer batteries? People always promote EVs and such oh it could go zero to whatever and somebody seconds. But if you're in the working world and you're pulling a trailer. It don't make sense? Let's talk about truckers? That bring product to the stores? How about those shipping containers that bring somewhere in the area of 3,000 containers? From other countries. $250,000 gallons of diesel a day? And remember this? 2/3 of the US come from fossil fuels to generate electricity? Most of that's cool. You remove fossil fuels you're not charging that damn car? Better have a bicycle.
This is for Us only, you guys are so far behind in many things. For countries that use mostly renewable energy evs are the best way. There are already electric heavy timber trucks in operation is Sweden.
Ever since Russia invaded Ukraine, I have had a hard time supporting companies from China. To be honest, it's astonishing how far chinese technology has come. They have all these electric car companies, stuff like DJI, etc. But it bothers me to know that the Chinese government has all the control that it has, for example that they can review all the data from NIO cars and footage from DJI drones if they want to. What's more, buying tech (including cars) from them makes the country more powerful in the end. And I do not want to make a government like the Chinese (which comes too close to a dictatorship) more powerful. I'd rather support American and European companies at the moment (even though the West is not flawless either).
@@onetwothreefour-s1n absolutely nothing. But this war has shown us how much harm a dictator can do. And China is dangerously close to being a dictatorship. That's why I have a hard time supporting it. So again, China didn't do anything to Ukraine.

@@Lucas-wp2ph Battery swap won’t be viable long-term, as automakers move to using structural battery packs.
@@waynelewis9110 That is ok as long as they provide a 30year warranty. Also battery swap does not need structural batteries because you are able to run a smaller pack and save weight in that way. Also battery swap stations balance the grid and give small cheap cars the opportunity to have as long range as cars worth twice as much😊
USA release 2027 but just speculation of mine , definitely coming to USA before 2030
Whats wrong with the software? Dont understand all your comments on software. You didn't explain what you were concerned about?
Battery swapping FTW
It will be interesting to see if they can scale the battery swap idea. I kinda doubt it.
End of 2022, NIO has already installed more than 1200 power stations in China. The ‘’Nio Power Swap Station‘’ factory is located in Hungary.
“According to NIO's plan, by the end of 2022, NIO plans to build 20 Power swap stations in Europe; by the end of 2023, this number is expected to reach 120. By 2025, NIO plans to build 1,000 power swap stations in markets outside China, most of which will be located in Europe”
Lmao! A fair on one side of the street and a protest on the other side. I don't think you could sum up the world as it is today any better than that.
Love your content! But please: being in Europe means that you will get even more European subscribers...my modest and kind request: translate every data to metric/SI-measurements we can understand....standing in Oslo with 31 degres Fahrenheit doesn't mean a shit to us ;-)...Doug DeMuro is doing this nicely now and because you will grow to the same channel size you can easily start with that right now :-)!! Regards from Sweden :-) Michael
I downloaded the Nio App from the USA Apple Store and it’s only in Simplified Chinese. 😢
I live in San Jose so will try to checkout the location downtown.
Bagholders, bagholders everywhere. Hahaha.
@7:14 150 kWh battery pack! Are you kidding? My CYBRTRK should run 175 kWh ___and that's a guess!
SEMI runs 750 to 850 kWh battery pack, is a back of NAP! Using less than or equal to 2kW per mile____so, one case travelling 500miles on flat is 850 ÷ 1.7 kWh . We WILL find the specs in 7 Days! ( NOT 2 weeks )
Great video and great to see what these other brands are up to. I am a fan of your videos but I felt bad for Alyssa (spelling?) - the female holding the camera. On more than one occasion you came off blatantly condescending towards her remarks - and almost ridiculing some of her remarks that you asked her for.
In those moments you came off as borderline cocky and a jerk.
Keep up the great work but dude - lose the attitude with Alyssa. She’s doing her best.
Yeah, he's always a douche but she's used to it.
If there was homeless people there, would it stay open?
Wouldn't it be great if they could invent a car that runs on a liquid which is readily available and quick to refill.

The cars look good, I'm less of a fan of their website and navigating to the specs of their cars.
Trust me. They are always watching
Maybe the mad 😠 they can't buy a nio iam🤣
Did you ask employee if they are members of CCP?
Nio's battery-swapping will lose its allure as batteries get better, faster-charging. And its lifestyle pitch is unlikely to rein in Westerners. So I'd call Nio stock a sell NOW.
Very impressed with the cars and I think battery swapping is the future, but the "Nio Life" thing is just cringe.
😆 🤣
I hope Tesla would OEM NIO to pass the WH Chinese brand allergy and gives american options.
Prediction: this place will be empty of NIO by 2024.
Support Nio, your supporting the CCP
I’m anxious to learn more about battery swapping, but don’t think it would work in USA. Why can’t Toyota, Honda, Nissan, and other Japanese brands build an EV as good as the Chinese? I would never buy a Chinese car which helps CCP government.
Chinese govt lifted hundreds of millions of people out of poverty. Chinese people overwhelmingly approve of their government. Don’t be fooled by US propaganda.
@@randomname931 Of course the people approve current government. When not doing what the government asks, you disappear.
@@johnpoldo8817 that's just more US propaganda.
everything in your house is made in china, including computer or phone you are typing, not just finished product, but all parts and materials, so first thing you can do is smash your phone to stop help ccp
@@xinyiquan666 Correct, but I always try to buy non-CCP products even if it costs slightly more. High price items such as EVs, it’s battery, and motor is where I look for country of manufacture.
What a waste of premium space :(
You are right. They need a Walmart outlet here instead.
Fantastic!!!!!!!!!!
The Chinese Tesla
The whole business model and experience feels very Asian and Chinese. Not for me for what I want out of a car. But I'm going to be a bit nationalistic here, but no interest in supporting a Chinese automaker either. On a global level, it's going to be hard enough to compete in the coming decades, we have to get our shit together and play to our strengths.
I really don't think you should do that because you will only have shit in your hands for real.
very uneducated racist view, to each their own

Work for free? The ccp thanks you for the service lol
What has china done to Ukraine? Serious question.
Only if you have not been to china you will be prejudiced
@@onetwothreefour-s1n absolutely nothing. But this war has shown us how much harm a dictator can do. And China is dangerously close to being a dictatorship. That's why I have a hard time supporting it. So again, China didn't do anything to Ukraine.
@@gohenator72 I understand. Maybe you are right. I was just trying to explain why I am having a hard time supporting countries like China.
