I highly recommend Prometheus or Anubis from them!
They're a Symphonic death metal band.
The orchestra is a member of the band.
They usually write the orchestral first and the rest later.
Christos Antoniou (guitar and orchestral composer of the band) is an absolute genius.
Septicflesh is the best metal band with orchestra in the whole f###ing galaxy. Noone can compare with them... can't wait for the new album modern primitive in 20 may.

Great reaction! Some musicians may be shocked at first, but if you watch the show you'll see several musicians headbanging. With this and other bands, that often happens. I'm sure sure the epicness of the music and the atmosphere of the theater are an important factor, but it seems that in (probably) all orchestras, there are always musicians that are also metalheads at heart :)

If you haven't already looked it out, Dimmu at wacken 2012 with orchestra is another great symphonic metal gig.
Plus epica live with orchestra a few years back...
Sadly Tuomas of Nightwish refuses to do a live orchestra gig, which is disappointing.

Yeah, the buildup in the beginning was the only thing that worked for me.
I do like metal & orchestra together, but there just wasn't enough melody.
There is a ton of melody going on in this song idk what you're not hearing
