NB5 is softer, that’s true. If I had to choose - I’d go with version 4. The difference is not that big and you can definitely save some money 💰

NB5 is softer but also has a better transition for me. NB4 was flat and firm for me. NB5 whilst a softer foam doesn't feel too firm for me and is more versatile.

Would a Gel Kayano 31, Novablast 5 and Magic Speed 4/Metaspeed Edge rotation do fine?

Yes, Kayano/Nimbus for slow, easy runs, Novablasts for daily miles and some uptempo work and Magic Speed/Metaspeed for racing - makes perfect sense 👌
