Somehow, I kind of thought my response to the video wouldn't be read. I should not have critiqued your work. Please accept my apology. The fact is, I subscribe to view your videos and think highly of all the work that goes into them. I've learned tons of stuff just following your videos, and will continue to do so. Again, please accept my apology for shooting off my big mouth. I in no way meant to offend you. Keep up the excellent work partner, we are all in need of your expertise... Great Luck !
🙋🏻♀️ Thanks for the video, and details ! My son just handed me a 1972 Eisenhower Dollar that he's insisting has silver in it. I'm certainly not an expert & wasn't sure how to differentiate these coins, which is why I came here. Silver is my absolute favorite metal, for all things, and I have never had a problem "seeing" and "feeling" it in an item I might be looking at. The coin from my son, doesn't have silver in it, from my eye's point of view. And after watching your video, I looked more closely at my coin and it does seem to have copper showing from the side. I'll be showing your video to my son soon. Thanks again !! 🥀
You want to look at the front ( obverse ) under President Eisenhower - the “ s “ mint mark shows that it was minted at the San Francisco Mint . This signifies 40% silver . They came from San Francisco Mint in SEALED in transparent plastic . They were in two varieties . “ Blue Ike’s “ means that they were sold in a dark Navy blue envelope . It is BU ( brilliant/ uncirculated ) and the other variety from San Francisco Mint - known as “ brown Ike’s “ , they came in a brown box and were not only 40% silver , but they were minted on “ PROOF “ Planchets . ( mirror like finish ) I hope that this helps . Peace ☮️
Eisenhower 1972 Type 1 same reverse as 1971 with mushy islands and flat earth Type 2 the islands are either completely gone or very faint and the earth has a flat surface on the 9-10 o-clock position Type 3 everything is cleaned up, the islands are distinct and separate the earth is round and the reverse has a very much more defined reverse. There were 1975 Eisenhower dollars minted and you can tell some of them apart by the lettering on the reverse. The letters are all , what is referred to as block letters. These were easily found by looking at all of the printing around the edges. These would have included LIBERTY AND UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. The other way is to buy a 1975 mint set. They are relatively cheap but you will see a 1776-1996 as the Philadelphia mint and 1776-1976 D from the Denver mint. Also, silver Eisenhower dollars were sold at the mint for a pretty big premium and they also made clad and silver proofs. The clad dollar was in a regular proof set and the silver proofs were sold in a special brown display box. While I’m at it the silver uncirculated were sold in a special blue envelope. That was the easy way but the best way is to just keep it in the blue envelope.
Regarding your type 2: the flat surface isn't a distinguishing feature because type 3 has the exact same globe outline. Only type one has a pronounced flat earth feature that is communicated to collectors.
Have a 76 type 2 d and a 76 type 1 silver proof. Would love to see if the value is as much as said was in this or another video. Would even sell for 70 percent of value if as much as you said for the 76 type 2 D error and the 76 type 1 silver proof.
I have a type 1 1972 Ike dollar. I wondered if it was worth very much. If was handed down to me from my Dad. It looks to be in good condition does not look like it has been out there running around. Please let me know if you think it would be worth looking into.
I have a very big brain right now and It is always telling me that it wants to be free from my body and telepathically rule the entire universe, so how do I get paid??
Found this coin, at the bottom of a box that a friend had to forfeit, because he owed me storage fees, cleaned it up and it turns out to be a 1972 Eisenhower Copper/Silver Dollar, type 2. Looks like I’m going to have a nice Christmas.. I believe it’s valued at $9000
You probably already know by now, because it's been 3 years since you posted your comment, but if you cleaned that coin, you lost about 70%-80% of its value. Literally the first thing that you should have learned about coins is that you NEVER EVER EVER CLEAN THEM. Of course, the odds of you finding a coin that valuable, bouncing around in a box, from your buddies storage unit are ZERO. And what kind of "friend" repos his buddies shit for a little owed storage money? You help your friends and family whenever possible and you do it because it's the right thing to do. Profiting from someones misfortune or financial predicament is a scumbag move and karmicaly speaking, you cleaning that coin and screwing yourself out of all the numismatic value is exactly what you deserve. "Friend?" I think not.
Did you mean to put 1971 instead of 1991??? And meant to type 1977 instead of 1997??? Because if you have any Ike coins that have a date from the 1990's..I'm guessing they're worth $0 because they would be fakes. I am pretty sure they didn't make them then.
It's so funny. People whine about how the large Eisenhower dollars were so difficult to carry around yet never hesitate for a second to claim that Morgan and Peace Dollars (exactly the same physical size yet heavier) circulated regularly. NONE on the above mentioned coins EVER circulated in the common definition of the word.
basically made a video saying "yeah im not quite sure about anything guys. here ya go. i literally wasted 9 min i will never get back. bro why make a video if u dont konw hte ansswer
I must disagree with you. The least popular? Than even the Sakegeweya(?)...I doubt that very much. The newer smaller dollar coins were constantly being confused with half dollars (or even quarters). Total waste of metals. I happen to adore the Ike’s, for exactly what you pointed out...the size and heft. I often carry 8 to 10 Ike’s in my pocket, just so I can feel and hear them clank around in my hand. Unliked Ike’s? I should say not.
I had one dollar 1776 to 1976 set silver coin in very good condition sealed in a plastic but do not have idea how to sell it. If you wanna just let me.
This is a nice coin I have one of this well kinda my mother actually has it she has one in where she keeps her jewelry and pretty big bigger than a 1 dollar coin that we use today
Kind of pissed off... Right before me and my ex-girlfriend broke up her mom wanted to know if I was switch her a couple of these coins. I told her no problem and I gave her $260 worth, dollar per dollar!🤦🤦😡🤬
I was trying to find out if my 1776-1976-D Eisenhower one dollar coin was worth anything but face value? If anyone can give me feed back I'd really appreciate it.
if you want to learn about the ike dollar, this is NOT the video to watch. if your going to make an educational video, at least do your homework first.

I have one of these coins and on the back side where the Eagles hat from the left from the right to the left on the wing there's a straight line going across does anybody know a voided are cracked or anything hit me up

Alex, this world is full of people who refuse to acknowledge making a mistake. You are a welcome exception. Good on you, man. 100!
Ike's are my favorite coin right now. I keep 1 slick 1971 in my jacket pocket always. I use it as my card protector when I play poker at the casino.
Have one too keep it In my pocket for luck
I got nothing but boring talk
Dude im sorry to say but damn! I feel like all my remaining brain cells are fried watching half the video.

Yeah u see that copper ring and u know it is not silver
You want to look at the front

Christina Cancilla I'm sorry for your lost.

They are worth whatever some one will pay you. Most Ike dollars, outside of some that are 40% silver, are worth $1.00.
Nice info. I have 1991 and 1997 How much value of this coins?
Did you mean to put 1971 instead of 1991???
And meant to type 1977 instead of 1997???
Because if you have any Ike coins that have a date from the 1990's..I'm guessing they're worth $0 because they would be fakes. I am pretty sure they didn't make them then.

he is right, you totally glossed over the type 1and 2and3 of 1972 . I would expect a video of examples of the types.
@@BigDCoins I enjoyed it... Thank you for your efforts. I can attest to you openly admitting that you don't hold all of the answers... Nevertheless, I appreciate your coin knowledge, your approach & I really enjoy your videos!
