- Today we're playing this brand new and awesome 'Majesty' inspired RTS RPG called Crown of Greed! When I say 'Majesty Inspired' I truly mean this as the game essentially plays like a modern successor of the 90's GEM. You will build your fantasy kingdom and defend it by using heroes, however, your heroes have 100% free-will and agency and will make their own decisions. As the kingdom manager, it's your duty to protect your civilization from menacing monsters but also provide your heroes equipment and items that they can use for survival. How do you go about this if your heroes have free will you ask? Well, you must incentivize your heroes with gold by using bounty flags. It's a really cool system that made Majesty stand apart from the rest and it's thrilling to see the same system in use in a modern title!

Description from Steam:
In this Demo version of the game, you will set up your very first foothold and try to survive in the hostile realm of Rodovia. Bend your subjects to your will with an unusual indirect management system. Plan, build, manage and offer bounties to greedy heroes who may or may not take on the challenge.
ABOUT THIS DEMO
Greetings, heir of Rodovia. Are you ready to claim your rightful throne? If so, know this - ruling a fantasy kingdom is no easy feat. Welcome to the Crown of Greed Demo, a classic strategy game inspired by old-school traditions, featuring a unique indirect command system, so unusual among other strategy games. The demo version, being just a foretaste of the full version, will familiarize you with the main mechanics and features of the game.
Your first steps in Rodovia
The Demo version allows you to create and defend your very first foothold. Choose from a range of basic economic facilities, workshops, military buildings, and hero dwellings to secure the safety and well-being of your people. Surround your city with defensive towers and expand your borders to gain new territories and subjects.
Will they agree to serve you?
In the Demo version, you will be able to recruit and upgrade three basic hero classes. Heroes, endowed with free will, will gladly undertake your quests... or not! You can't force them to obey you, but you can try to buy their services with shiny coins. The rogue, hunter and warrior await your first offers. Will they agree to cooperate?
Realms inspired by European medieval folk culture await
Travel through the gloomy, mysterious lands of Rodovia to strengthen your rule. Discover a variety of the Demo version biomes, such as Forests, Deathlands, Swamps or Plains, each with their own locations and horrifying inhabitants. Visit forgotten ruins, caves, graveyards or dens and remember - with great risk comes great reward.
No more direct orders
Discover that authority extends beyond mere commands, and that a King's power is only as strong as his ability to bend others to his will. In this Demo version of the game, you can try out the unique, indirect management system, in which your subjects will decide for themselves when and which tasks they want to undertake. If you want them to obey you, you better get your gold ready!
FEATURES:
Demo based on a single, extensive scenario containing a good deal of mechanics, which you can find in the full version
Unusual RTS gameplay with indirect management solutions
Engaging Orders system, which may or may not influence your subjects and heroes
Opportunity to build and expand your first fantasy foothold
Dynamic Combat and Magic systems
The majestic in-game world, inspired by European medieval folk culture and mythology

Hello and thanks for viewing! After posting this video I got hit with a bunch of copyright infringement notifications because the music in this game uses copyrighted music... I wish there was a better way to detect this prior to publishing but that's not always how it works. I opted to 'remove the music/keep the voice recording' at some junctures and you may notice a reduction in voice quality. Luckily it's brief and toward the end of the video. I wanted to call this out because it's not up to my quality standard, sorry about that! Thanks again for viewing!
I loved majesty, so now I have to watch and like your videos on it. Hope to see more of this, it looks like a great successor.
Fellow lovers of Majesty unite! It's a great series, one of my favorites. I'm glad you got enjoyment out of it! I'll definitely be playing more of this game, the current demo has just 1 scenario so we're kind of tapped out for now, but It's one I'm definitely keeping an eye on! Luckily, I have a full Majesty playthrough on the channel for you to check out if you like. Thanks for viewing my friend! :D
The heroes have free will until you tell them they don't.
That's correct, free-will until you dangle money in front of them. :D
I've been waiting for YEARS for a new majesty game
Been waiting forever!! I can't believe they haven't done a 'Majesty 3' by now. Lucky for us, we have Crown of Greed coming up. Stated release is Q2 of 2025 and it has me excited! Thanks for checking out the video my friend.
Second creator I follow to showcase this. I love Majesty, especially the original series from 25 years ago(oh crap, thats a sentence that hurts my eyes). Hoping it captures the fun again.
First off, thanks for checking out the video my friend! Secondly, agreed 100%! The demo of this game certainly was fun, exciting to see the full release. I has a ways to go before it fills that Majesty void, but it's good to see a modern title playing around with the compelling 'free-will' mechanics of Majesty! :D
Awesome, thanks for showing this one! On the wishlist it shall go!
It's my pleasure, glad you enjoyed! It's definitely one to keep an eye on!
I have never played Majesty, but I love any game where I can play a more macro-management role without too much micro.
Agreed! A lot of RTS games get a little too 'micro-dependent' This game thinks about it in the way that Majesty perfected long ago. Would highly recommend Majesty if you enjoyed the mechanics showcased here today. Thanks for checking out the video!
try Annihilate The Space, a game in space, you build shipyards and the ships fight themselves :D
@ This game looks SWEET! Awesome recommendation, thanks man! I'll definitely take a look at it.
This game looks awesome I was a huge fan of Majesty (still am), hopefully this game captures the vibe nicely and becomes a true successor worth playing!
Glad you enjoyed! This game does have a ways to go before it's in the same realm as Majesty, but it's awesome to see a modern game employing 'Majesty-like Mechanics'. I'm excited to see what this game becomes! Thanks for viewing.
This is very similar to Age Of Empires, which is a game I love. I hope you can play more of this game. As you know, my weakness is RTS games (Supreme Commander). Really fun to watch bro! You’re awesome! Thank you for playing this great game! Let’s go!
Glad you enjoyed my friend! I love a good RTS title, might not be the best at them, but I sure do enjoy them. One of these days I'll take you down in Supreme Commander (lol, yeah right). Haha. If you enjoyed the mechanics of this one, definitely take a look at Majesty (from the 90's) it's a GEM! Thanks for your awesome support, I appreciate you brother!
I don't think I ever played it, but I remember my cousin telling me about Majesty many years ago, and it sounded really cool. This looks like a pretty good version of the same kind of thing, glad to see it being made. And this was a fun playthrough to watch too. Those guards were the REAL heroes though.
Majesty 1 is a classic, highly recommended if you're ever interested! This game emulates Majesty pretty closely actually, which I think is a good thing! Glad you enjoyed the playthrough, thanks for checking it out! The guards are always the unsung heroes, they are unheralded and give their life to their duty. RIP guards, I stand with you. :D Thanks again!

My biggest gaming frustration is that Majesty 2 took a wrong turn at some "features" and they never managed to return... And even worse, noone bothered of working on such an amazing concept that majesty had...
Like, it's pure awesome, how come majesty was the last game to really use this concept well?
I haven't watched the video yet, but the intro and the description are enough to earn my like and hype, I really hope this game is as perfect as the classic one
LOL, Gandalf is the advisor. Man, Majesty was so amazing, I'm now remembering the advisor and his voiceover and sense of humor... What a game. I'd love to see an "endless" stage for majesty, a different approach to the map for a change, a more sincity-like approach could be great
Ok, a few minute in and this seems more and more like a reskinned Majesty by all means, I do love it, but I was hoping to see more of the devs take on it rather than just that... Maybe if this game goes well they might eventually expand, hopefully not make the same mistakes as Majesty 2 with fixed temple locations and the hall of lords shenanigans... I'd love to see more on heroes development, long term, like more skills, more equipment, that's why I'd love to have a longer standing map unlike the usual short-ish missions
A simcity like map would be insane, imagine creating cities like Neverwinter or Baldur's Gate, with it's own legendary heroes slightly influencing the region, another more chaotic town to the west with it's own legendary heroes that could fight or ally to the previous town... Man, this game brings me so many warm memories and also so much potential and hope from the future...
edit:
Got the demo, played it, even nightmare is still pretty easy, the one thing I've noticed is that you can't revive heroes, it changes things... Not for better or worse, just a very different approach
Another change that actually suck is that our spells no are hidden AF and they have a CD, why? f CD, they cost money, if we have the money we should be able to spam at our own peril, CD sucks terribly. If we are willing to babysit a hero and we have the money we should be able to, let there be a chosen one...
Couldn't agree with you more my man. Majesty 1 laid out the template for obviously Majesty 2, but so many other RTS/fantasy type games. It's shocking to me as well that very few other developers in the past 2+ decades have tried touching this indirect control/free-will mechanic. I personally love it, because I don't overly enjoy micromanagement. Crown of Greed certainly is heavily inspired by Majesty, you'll see what I mean when you watch the video! Thanks for such a detailed and spirited comment, I can see that you share the same appreciation as I for the Majesty series. It's a game that still stands the test of time!
You touch on the humor that Majesty had lol, 100% correct, I often found myself laughing while playing it. I actually did a playthrough series of Majesty as one of my first 'series' on the channel and was quickly reminded how funny it is. The Gnomes and Dwarves crack me up. "I'm getting better at this", "There's no fixin' this". I loved how each hero type had their own personality and motivations.
Regarding Crown of Greed, I was joyous that it was so much like Majesty, I think that's a great start. However, I do agree with you that there needs to be more, it needs to go farther. Luckily for us, this is just the demo, showcasing what the game is capable of. With their heavy influence from Majesty, I'm sure they'll try to maintain the spirit of the Majesty series but expand upon it. Endless mode or different game modes might not be out of the question! You have some great ideas, maybe join their discord or leave a steam review, I'm sure the dev team would welcome your feedback!
On another note, Majesty on steam is 'moddable' and there have been some good mods that add some 'custom map' endless wave defense modes. It's pretty interesting for a bit if you want to play again.
Thanks again for your spirited comments! It's great to hear from someone as passionate as I about the GEM that is Majesty and what CoG could potentially be.
I still love Majesty 1 and 2. And i play them frequently still.
Same here! It's a great and unique series that has stood the test of time. It's good to see a modern title adopting the unique mechanics of Majesty. Hopefully they continue to improve upon Crown of Greed, I'd love to play through the maps here on the channel. Thanks for checking out the video, I appreciate it!
Sweet Game man
You got that right! It's good to see a modern take on what Majesty did so well. Thanks for checking out the video brother!
thanks for your opinion, good video.
Glad you enjoyed! Thanks so much for checking out the video. :)
😑...😐...🤨...🤔...😑👌❤️
Hahaha this is a truly underrated comment. Perfectly 'stated' my friend. :D
@AboboKnows Thanx for the video, I just got it and rage quiet 10min ago I'm loving it 😂👌 you're right about getting a lot of heroes cuz if you don't the game will kick your butt going to watch your video on majesty after beating this game
@ Thanks for checking out the video, I appreciate you! Yes, you want a lot of heroes because they generate you the $$ and also defend the realm. Looking forward to seeing what other heroes this game adds. Check out the Majesty playthrough if you like! It was one of the first series I did on the channel before I had a really good mic, but if you like this video format, you'll most likely enjoy. Thanks again my friend!
