3x World-Record Adventurer Talks His Deadliest Expeditions (and Why He's Doing It Again) #19

- Опубліковано 8 вер 2024
- 3x world-record adventurer Ash Dykes talks about his unprecedented treks across Mongolia, Madagascar, and the Yangtze river, where he survived deserts, dehydration, starvation, hostile animals and locals, and the deadliest strain of malaria on the planet.
Now, he's planning on an expedition to Suriname, the last truly wild country left on Earth, where he's hoping to find the source of the Coppename river. But first, and scariest of all, he survived an episode of the Bach and Arthur podcast...

Thanks for having me on lads, really enjoyed it…. See you after Suriname for round 2 😃🙌🏼
Mad props to you 👏 you're such an amazing storyteller and it makes it better that it's actually true
You are absolutely inspirational! Hearing about all these crazy stories, I really wonder how you managed to actually do it all despite the constant warnings and dangerous threats 😳 You have such a likeable personality too and your storytelling made us all hooked throughout. Good luck for your next journey, please stay safe 😭🙏 I really applaud you for still continuing to do this and being so brave and courageous, so inspiring!! 👏
This is the longest time i've seen bach go without saying rose toy or menstruation

I can't believe this comment isn't trending
Or "WHAT"/"bruh"

2 HOURS THANK YOU BEAUTIFUL CABIN CREW ❤️💯 SCARLETT JOHANSSON
It took me a minute to get this 😭☝️
Imagine Ash Dyke reading this after wondering how the podcast was received. 😂
ash is genuinely one of the best story tellers out there i could genuinely listen to him for hours
I was so invested, he should do audiobooks (if he doesn't already)
This podcast makes me realise how much I love learning
Fr
Same! It was so educational and probably the most productive thing I've done so far this summer 😂
why don’t podcasts like this ever trend 😔
Bc if more people heard and understood them it would shatter social norms and create a society that people who vote for Trump aren't ready for
sexy cabin crew

Are you Scarlett Johansson
Beautiful cabin crew 😩
Scarlett’s Johansson 💋
I didnt know who Ash Dykes was before this podcast and one thing i can say is that his strength is so admirable. The fact that he knew what he was getting himself into and still held such a good mindset throughout it is amazing.
Arthur’s giving concerned mum energy icl😭
"oh my godness"
As a Spotify listener I appreciate Arthur for always describing the conversation to make sure we understand the stuff we can’t see ❤
I think this is UA-cam ❤
the malaria story is crazy omg, and the fact that he’s talking about it almost as if it’s like no big deal lmao. this was such a cool episode, i love hearing these kinda stories it reminds me of watching the show ‘alone’ and just seeing people deal with the wilderness in its rawest form.
Why is no one talking about the fact bach has no legs
It’s lovely to see the serious side of these guys as well as the funny jokey side. Went into this not knowing a lot about Ash but really enjoyed hearing his anecdotes and learning about his adventures. Always nice to have something a bit different to listen to. 10/10. Thanks guys :)
This was a different kind of episode and I thought I wasnt gonna enjoy it as much, but Ash Dykes really showcased a likeable personality and his stories got more interesting with each expedition. Cant wait to have him again after Suriname!!
The fact that this man started to plan his next trip while still in Mongolia is crazy 💀 I know for a fact I would’ve never left my bed after that
I would of never left my bed in the first place 😭
@@lilyoliver174HAHA yeah let’s be honest I would never have the strength to do allat 💀
1:57 “a bit more deep into you”
bachs lil eyebrow raise 😭😭 sorry
LMAO i noticed that too like bach was holding back on so many innuendos
I don’t even like walking back up the stairs when I’ve forgot something how is this dude trekking across whole islands
This podcast in general really itches every inch of my brain because Bach and Arthur really do cover everything from memes to science to now extreme adventures. For all 2 hours i was entirely captivated and the stories Ash had to tell are unbelievable and before the podcast I had no clue who he was and now I can’t wait to follow his story. This podcast is the best podcast i think i’ll ever listen to. ❤
this is the only podcast I have ever watched all episodes the whole way through & also the fact that this guy is alive is insane
my friend and i love this podcast so much that we quote "come on" and "wHaT" daily. We also chose those as our bowling names, so thank you Bach and Arthur!!!
What has entered my regular parlance during the day and I have no regrets, love this pod
The fact that Ash Dykes is humble and so charismatic really gives proof to his well rounded personality that clearly is the main cause for his ability to storm through the adventures he has embarked on, and the future ones as well. Thanks Bach and Arthur, this podcast was extremely interesting and perspective changing. ❤
Ok so this guy is SO interesting, one of my favourite episodes I think. Frickin devastated about Gertrude though, I would smuggle it home
I might have commented too early... I don't know the outcome of Gertrude at this point (51 mins in) so just hoping they're a GOATed chicken and went on to have a fantastic life
I love that they both go from doing silly pods about brainrot to sharing serious, interesting and educational stuff. Absolutely amazing 🙏🙏(cant wait for a live show 😭😭)
“Oh my goodness” we all say in unison
jaw was to the floor when he was talking about almost dying, this man is insane its fascinating to listen to. arthur and bach never die pls i more than roughly enjoy this podcast. it actually makes me feel smart compared to the other pods that are just celebrity drama and brainrot
i think this kinda format and podcast type is bach and Arthurs' calling. the questions you guys ask are so good and intelligent. its so gripping to watch/ listen to while still showing your personalities
This is definitely my fav pod! Ash seems such a lovely guy I would love to hear him talk all day long.
YESSSSSSS A LONGER POD EP IM SO UNBELIEVABLY HAPPY RNNNNN
to think i have to wait a whole week for the next episode 😪😪 appreciate the extra long episode "thank you bach and arthur & ash dykes" we all say in unison.
Beautiful podcast crew🥰
Scarlett Johansson🥀
why do podcasts like this never trend 😔🙏
I’ve never seen Bach and Arthur so quiet before 😭
Arthur definitely wrote the title
People like Ash really make me fascinated with people’s will, like I don’t understand the desire to climb Mount Everest or anything like that it’s sort of amazing how far he is willing to push himself
This is fixing my attention span
I was trying to work out a way of saying how this podcast makes me feel, but that’s it Mr G0blin
The only thing that can ease my menstruation-induced misery at work is Bach and Arthur + full strength ibuprofen. Can’t wait to listen, thank you for the laughs!
This guys an absolute inspiration! Mate you should be so proud of yourself!!!
this was so interesting, I was hooked! Great guest and ep boys :)
I agree
make every episode this long please
I’m only 1 hour in and absolutely gutted there’s only one more hour left. I could listen to this man talk all day he is so inspiring and so interesting. He tells the stories whilst remaining humble.
I’m literally from down the road to Ash and I can’t believe I’m only being introduced to him now! Can’t wait to see what he does next this was such a good episode.
Italian bach, and the podcast posting in one dayyy!!
this is so scarlett johansson core
Ash’s book inspired me to cycle around Taiwan. Last year I cycled around Okinawa, and this year I’m cycling South Korea from north to south. Thank you Ash for your inspiring life!
Awesome good luck
@@iRyanMal Thank you!
So far i think bach has said 'yeah' about 200 times and im only 30 mins in
See this is really interesting, the part when he was talking about the ‘voice’ her heard, is the exact description religious people use when they talk about god. Like he said he isn’t religious but it’s genuinely made me think, people say god comes to them when they need them most, appears for them, lifts them up and helps them, guides them and they come out the other end victorious and now a religious person. Recently been going through a bit of a thought process about religion and how it actually happens in the first place so this was really interesting. Also makes me think if god is real and has shown up for a dying man, or if this ‘god’ is something that everyone has in them that keeps them going and manifests their needs. Maybe religion isn’t completely wrong but we as people have decided to follow someone else rather than ourselves and our own insanely creative brains.
beautiful pod crew 🌹🌹scarlett johannsson 🌹🌹why don't podcasts like this ever trend???? #BOOMchallenge
This dude is nuts😭 what possessed him to do all that
This episode is crazy good idk how it doesn’t have 10x the views
I am usually put off podcasts this length but I was pulled in for the whole thing, incredible man and Bach and Arthur both gave a good interview ❤
Arthur sounds like such a worried mother at 1:24:10
This is absolutely so inspring! My toxic trait is thinking I could do some of this, eg climb mountains and hike, but then I remember I can barely even get up early in the morning and I just sit down all day 😂
I love this podcast episode, these types of people and stories are so fascinating !
Put these podcasts on befor I sleep and end up staying up being so deeply interested, good stuff boys x
Just an amazing episode with a truly inspirational man
The best episode you've done so far!
brilliant episode, ash is such an interesting guest 👏 love how this pod can be both funny and serious
When I grow up I want to be a Bachasaurus Rex

I’ve been waiting all day for this
This was an incredible episode! Good luck to Ash on his next adventure
This episode is so so interesting, what a cool man. You really don’t think these kind of adventures still happen in 2024
This was such a fascinating podcast episode, Ash is such a natural story teller and he got me encapsulated the entire time. Amazing stuff

Genuinely the best podcast
potentially one of my favourite podcast episodes, I love this kind of thing
this is incredibly interesting
loved the fellas episode and loved this one. class guy for podcasts imo and class hosts to talk to him
i agree! such an interesting guy, and bach and arthur were great at asking good questions and just letting him talk!! nothing worse than when hosts/ interviewers just cut off the speaker every ten seconds, so i appreciated that they just let him tell his insane stories
THANK YOU SCARLETT JOHANSON FOR THIS 2 HOUR LONG EPISODE🙌🙌🙌🙌
YALL CANNOT DROP THIS A MINUTE AFTER BACH POSTS WHO AM I SUPPOSED TO WATCH FIRST
bro is him
i went to Tanzania last december and visited the serengiti (absolutely beautiful, highly recommend), anyway my family and i had to get around 5 vaccines before going and there was a malaria vaccine, i got so many mosquito bites it was terrifying thinking that i was going to get something, we had so much bug spray but it did nothing to how bitty the bugs were
listened to this on a plane made the time go so quickly this guy is so interesting and very good storyteller
I fw this heavy

Appreciative of Scarlett Johansson squeezing in at least 1 “ᵂᴴᴬᵀ” into this episode
This guys way of stor telling is magnetic. Great podcast guest guys 👍
listening to this made 7 hours of filing much more fun
The best podcast so far, could listen to Ash for hours on end!
Ash spoke at my school a few years ago he was great captivated a usually rowdy group of 100 boys for nearly two hours it was great

Hi guys, this is the best podcast episode by far, ash is one of the most interesting people I’ve watched and I can’t believe I’ve never heard of him?! You two are excellent interviewers and ask the questions that us viewers are wanting to know. If you guys are looking to do more content like this, Geowizard is someone I watch regularly, and if you’ve never heard of him he’s the most underrated UA-camr I know! Would be great if you guys could get him on :)
i actually love them so much what
this is actually anti-brainrot; hope for gen z and podcasts reflecting real conversations. proper life being reflected in podcasts instead of shock factor nastiness. wohoooo

1:50:00 The wikipedia article about the Vanuatu people is not very accurate (as expectable) so I would suggest, for anyone curious, to watch Nova Lectio's video (ua-cam.com/video/dQTbWmAs4-k/v-deo.htmlsi=iiTdXVg_tmA_COXP). It's a really good deep dive by an Italian team of professionals and you can pull the automatic translations up, they should work pretty well considering the team did the Italian subtitles too (quite good translation accuracy I would assume therefore).
Long story short, during WWII the Americans settled in that island and the nearby ones and brought food, weapons, transportations by plane. Because the people would see those resources coming from the sky after the whites reached their island, they linked that to the idea of the good white man, quite literally a living god, and have ever since loved all white men that came by. Nova Lectio explains properly all the story surrounding John Frum etc., so I def recommend checking the video out!
