Went with friends to Tekno Train and it was a bit disappointing as we didn't see a DJ (Paul Mac); There were no speakers at the vestibule where people were encouraged to dance; The lights were mediocre considering it's part of Vivid; Adding some laser lights would have been nicer and volunteers dressed in some sort of neon dancing to encourage others would add to the atmosphere; Dressing up the exterior of the train would add to the party vibe to those on platforms. Pretty lame to see most people were just sitting down while music was on. There's plenty potential. Considering it was the first time it was introduced, hope it gets better next year.
It will be fun for me sitting in the window seat in this tekno train with all of this music playing, I started to hate the window seat from January 12, 2024
We went on this last night. There is so much more they could have potentially done to make it better, but clearly didn't for safety or cost reasons. eg it would have been great to be able to move through the train and have different setups in different carriages (but a lot less people could enjoy it per ride) or add other effects like lasers (but then they would also need smoke). It would have been great to have some lights outside the train in tunnels or on platforms - although it wouldn't be an exclusive experience then. A slightly more practical change would have been to stick OLED panels to the roof so they could add animations to go with the sound. Alternatively put it into service as a regular train on the city loop - although it would probably need to be nixed with regular carriages, and I guess there would be insurance considerations with the older rolling stock. The fact they thought to do this and actually pulled it off is seriously impressive in itself though - just refurbishing the carriages would have cost quit a bit of time and money!
Went on the Tekno Train last night, it was a fun experience. The music matched the speed of the train, it was good to experience the journey. Considering techno is 30 years old, the crowd in my carriage was very diverse in age
Agreed.. its a bit lame but a good start to hopefully brighter things to come in future years. Desperately needs to be a non aircon set, so all the sounds of the train mix in with whats going on inside and gives you that true train travel through the tunnels vibe. And cover the train on the outside with lights to add to the spectacle. Now... where can we get a set like that I wonder 🙂. Oh and .. yeah ... substituting your own audio so as to not trigger Spewtube's algorithms... oh and hello Garry Massoud at the end.. 😆
Ye I hope that happens as we only have a Christmas Train in Melbourne and some special Shuttle Trains throughout the year 😃 Tbh I still Appreciate All the Trains we get in Melbourne
This would be sensory overload for me, but I would enjoy the music if I kept my eyes closed. I quite enjoy very loud music as my son was very much into this when he was a young teenager. Thanks for sharing this with us.
That is a different experience and it’s more of a limo on rails more than a nightclub and this setting reminds me a bit like the music video to this years winner of Eurovision. So I wonder if anyone would have an idea to reenact the music video of “The Code” by Nemo.
Hey mate, the thing in the grey box isn't a projector it's a moving head. Moving heads are commonly used on stages for concerts ect. I can't identify what brand or moving head it is from this distance though!
I went on the Techno Train last night. Unfortunately I did not have a good experience on there. The trip was nice but all of the music and lights was far too overwhelming for me. The vestibules were designed to be used as quiet areas, but they refused to let me use them. If I would walk up to take a seat, they would tell me to sit back where I was. In those circumstances, I find it dangerous for anyone with sensory issues to use it. It is not accessible for those people.
That’s a bummer! They said the same things about the vestibules on the pre-recorded announcements yet the staff said to remain seated at all times. Definitely a little mistake there.
Agreed. Passengers come on this train to see LED lights and listen to music, not be lectured on whose lands they’re on. They also couldn’t help themselves mentioning the Mardi Gras. It’s disappointing how woke everything is becoming.
Although, Many have done horrible things to them when they took over their land. It is kind to pay respects to the people who have been treated this way. I agree that we are reminded quite a lot about this and it can get repetitive, We need to show respect to them and acknowledge them.
@McMaster: Its the Anglo influence. Compare how Americans celebrate Mardi gras in NewOrleans to how boring Sydney does it.Americans know how to party thanks to its huge black and latino communities. I have lived in America and been to Mexican babyshowers which was more fun than anything in Sydney.
Honestly, it looked fine to me. Just friends and families out having a good time - kids included. It's not their job to make the UA-cam video more pleasant for you. If you wanted everyone to "shut up" as you put it, maybe the movies would be a better night out.
So over the welcome to country at every single event. Have a look at techno train in germany and see how they play there music and dance as nobody is really seated on there trains

Saved me from buying a $19 ticket
It's sold out any way lol
They still have a waitlist @@Potenti4lz
This should go on spotify
Thank you, that was a great video of the whole trip!

This looks like completely the wrong crowd for a Tekno Train 🤣🤣
You are told you can't dance or anything

Those trains still run. So no insurance problems
Classic set is still on operation on some lines and the old interstate ones on the Parra line

Well considering Techno has been around the mid 80 or early 90s no wonder.
So love this, my friend, you’re an angel 😇

Good video maybe they should dim the lights when train stops at stations so you can see more out of the window
Agreed!
I haven't been to VIvid for a long time like this looks so cool! I might try it $19 not that expensive!
Great Video Elliot, I have also booked tickets!
try to enjoy
@@chriscowally Will do
What would be really cool is if they did this in Melbourne with a recently retired COMENG set! :)

I’m on the train right now it’s amazing
SO disappointed i can't be in sydney for vivid, but hey, i can watch fantastic vids like this one instead :DDD cheers!
Whats with the sudden music change at 28:56? Copyright issue or something?
edit: there were more but I can not be bothered to timestamp them lol
Yeah, the music was copyright, so I just put UA-cam’s default music over those few sections. :)
it would be cool if they did this on every train
10:15 would be great to capture it from the outside at circular quay station. Is it once per night?
I never sit on window seat on trains with no music anymore, I used to until January 12, 2024
They should preserve an 8 car K set and turn it into a party train that would be awesome same with an 8 car V set

We need Timmy Trumpet playing on the train ASAP!!
Lucky for all those that got tickets as they were all sold out by the time I went to purchase one
Why is it still lit at the beginning for.like 6.5 min
WAITING
Would the top or bottom carriage be better
i rember i was there on the green carraige!
As the video reached 4:15 i was below on the train
Good idea, wrong crowd. If this was in Europe, that train would be absolutely pumping with a highly energetic young crowd.
just telling you in advance so you dont think im stealing ideas as i was thinking about getting this train for a while
How did I miss it?
Thought Vivid was meant to be free since last year?
Cool idea but looked low key mid irl.
not worth going then?
@@__________----------__________ It's worth going for sure. The ride was amazing.

Techno music is all about movement
Hi
People obviously havent been ripped off enough already 🤦
Kind of lame honestly. Appreciate you sharing what it was like tho
For party hire.
haha, I wish! :)
A bit boring 🌚 I think because copyright music
1 minute in and the aboriginal dribble begins. Pass.

People sitting down to techno and dance music is the exact opposite of what the origins of the music is about. Sydney again, murdering nightlife.
Horrible experience. We were asked to wait for an hour before boarding the train. Lights wasn't that spectacular either
They couldn’t put more effort into this train like put lights outside and stuff and also America can do better than Sydney
Nah germany does it a 1000 times better with there single deck rolling stock and people dance around to the beat all night long with a real dj playing

I truly want to understand why people like this event. it looks incredibly boring.
How about that background of the ppl talking,,, shut up enjoy the show
I find that to be quite rude. People were singing, having fun, and laughing together. No harm in that.
