I enjoyed listening as you speak slowly and clearly. I am a teacher and I know how important it is to pace new skills, show and explain each step by step. The other videos I have seen by you tubers, pack too much in. Now I see how you reveal new colours by taking out the previous colours. I couldn’t work it out and now I know. I want to do a face in the same way, so it will be a lot easier, as I see I need to take each colour out and print over from light to dark.
Thanks for the information. You were very clear, and slow enough to make this process makes sense. I also like the fact that you picked a really simple image to demonstrate this process. Thank you.
really cool, thank you for explaining this so simply and clearly. I am not sure my adhd brain can cope with the thinking needed for this, but I might just give it a try for giggles!
Have decided to have a go at Lino printing and watched several of your videos which have really inspired me! Thank you! can’t wait to get started but have to wait for my Christmas presents!!
Awesome! Even as simple as your design is, the layers just make it turn out beautifully! I'm only a year into block printing so this is still waaaay down the road, maybe if even. Something fun to look forward to!
Such a good project for me to try reduction linocut. Still not easy, but luckily I could watch the video again and again while working on my candlestick and lught, Thanks a lot !
Fantastic! And from such a simple design, thankyou! Could you tell me the name of the registration set up you mentioned please? I could only catch....pins and tabs... lol
The ink underneath should be dry ideally. With water-based inks this just takes 20 minutes or so, depending on the thickness of ink and the temperature. With oil-based inks this takes a few days or even a week or two.
Acrylic paint isn’t suitable for printing lino cuts. It will dry fast and stick to your plate, it will also not roll out as smooth as a block printing ink.
8:41 I am going to try a version of this…is that wrong. Seems beginner friendly. Is that wrong? I will let you know how my version comes out. @zenbreeze
These tutorials are really good, nicely paced , straight forward and your voice is clear and enjoyable to listen to. Thank you
Thanks Jay!
wow! at first i was thinking ‘hm that candle drawing looks a bit simple’ and then the result absolutely stunned me!

Hello, thanks for the great video. Do you have to let the lino dry before reapplying ink?
Have decided to have a go at Lino printing and watched several of your videos which have really inspired me! Thank you! can’t wait to get started but have to wait for my Christmas presents!!

It's easier than it looks! Have a go when you feel ready :)

Nice 👌
Thank-you!
An excellent video. Thank you
Brilliant!
How long should you wait before printing another colour on top?
The ink underneath should be dry ideally. With water-based inks this just takes 20 minutes or so, depending on the thickness of ink and the temperature. With oil-based inks this takes a few days or even a week or two.
Can you use acrylic paint.
Acrylic paint isn’t suitable for printing lino cuts. It will dry fast and stick to your plate, it will also not roll out as smooth as a block printing ink.
Can you print straight onto cards
You can, but cards tend to be quite stiff so it can be tricky to get a good print.
Love this..check out 'Art in the corridor' who are delightful and putting reduction lino printing into practice on their narrowboat.
🤩
👍👍👍👍👋☺
