No mention of Jim Gallagher Jr. beating Seve Ballesteros on foreign soil? That was a huge deal and Gallagher went on to win the Tour Championship a month later on the back of that confidence boosting Ryder Cup win.
Faldo / Monty tied Azinger / Couples & n and neither team blinked. The Faldo / Monty team had played as partners, in three previous matches. Their record of 2-0-1, doesn't tell entire story. before Zinger / a Couples who played the match of their careers, and earned a halve. I believe the match you were thinking was PM better ball, Faldo / Monty playing 4th straight match vs Beck / Cook, both rookies and neither having played all week. The dou were hitting balls as Watkins approached them with the news "Faldo and Monty, 1st match off.* I think it was Beck who said " Nothing like getting thrown into the fire" Beck is known for always being up-beat also said something on lines and of " What a beautiful day, how awesome is it to have a chance to play these guys".. I guess Cook than mumbled something under his breath like "I'm sure Monty and Faldo are saying, what did we do to deserve this pair" This would go down as a Ryder Cup Classic and I've seen many people say it's a top ten moment for sure. To the match - Faldo drains a birdie,, his 3rd of match l, to take 1-up lead through 6. Two holes later on #8, Beck makes birdie, also 3rd of match to square match. They traded punches back and forth until Beck / Cook did unthinkable and beat the team of Faldo / Monty. I could be wrong but believe Monty was a rookie in that team and played insanely well. The start to a brilliant Ryder Cup career. On this day though the US won the point and I think changed outcome of this 93 cup. IMO this 93 Ryder Cup, although played with loads of passion, pressure etc. Never got petty between players or player / fan interactions. The actual play had lots of drama and so much pressure. I know these guys are pro's, and tops in the world, but still amazes me, the shots, putts these guys make under that type of extreme pressure. I don't care what current plays say about RC. Watching the Ryder Cup from mid 80's through Brookline was some of the best stuff in not only golf but sports history. The 89 - 95 European Teams were loaded. They were the favorites entering each match. One year the European roster included Woosman #1 player in world, Faldo #2, JMO #3, Seve #4, Langer #7. The experience of guys like Mark James, Rocco, Lyle and a rookie Colin Montgomerie. What a great RC and not only Europe but the USA and entire world were now understanding how good this European team really was
@3:03"..but he would win all three of his four matches". Can someone explain this please ???

Think Monty made his debut in 1991 not 93.
