    Shouldn't the mirror be parabolic and not spherical?

      For most typical telescope mirrors, you make them spherical first, and then alter them to be parabolic. The final goal is a parabola.

      @@GordonWaite I see. How large is according to your experience the deviation between the ideal theoretical paraboloid and the real practically crafted surface curvature?
      How do you measure it?
