This is really cool to see. I've never seen DS music deconstructed this way before. One request is that it would be nice to have timestamps for when new instruments are added to the loop.
Wait, I'm confused about the DS soundchip, where is the DS getting the PSGs channels? wasn't pure MIDI? Is the DS picking it from the GBA hardware? Can DS combine channels from GBA soundchip just like how GBA did with PSG channels on some certain games?
I had lost the content I used to make the final video, but thankfully it's easy to get the files back from VG Music Studio. I don't know if I'll put download links but eventually I'll mention the way I make these videos.
I never owned the DS version but I like it and its amazing how much is going on!
trust me on this, the DS has a better story than the Wii Version
@Burnt Fishy well, he's still not wrong
I love the DS version. Especially as it's a 2D Platformer and I really get confused with the 3D Switch/Wii Version
Listening to this as I finish my final college movie project. This is real addicting to listen to.
Aquarium park probably is my favorite level from the ds game
Same. Act 1 is possibly among the best water levels in the francise even giving hydrocity a run for ita money
02:11 Got some serious Feel The Magic XX/XY and The Rub Rabbits vibes but I'm sure Sonic Team used the same sound tools for all their DS games.

I can work with that :)
This is the one I grew up with and this makes me very happy.

Some channels could be changed from PCM (samples) to PSG (Square Wave).
@@AmigaShorts Oh damn that's interesting, but the PSG takes it directly from the gba chipsound?
@@thiscateatspancakes2451 I'd imagine so, for backwards compatibility purposes.
@@thiscateatspancakes2451 Yes. The PSG channels come from a partition for backwards compatibility with GBA games.
is it possible to do the wii aquarium park? i wanna hear the main melody all by itself its beautiful
doing the wii ost is sadly not possible, as it uses pre-recorded audio instead of being sequenced therefore the instruments couldn't be split
@@sktbox4996 ooh okay, makes sense

Does the music get distorted when underwater?
Yes it changes
